I return from my adventures in Disney to find that I have been invaded by mice!  Under my kitchen and bathroom sinks, in the cabinets, there are lots of tiny little doo doo turds!

In Disney, it's okay to see live adult super sized mice walking around, having pictures taken, but not in my house.  They must die!

It took me at lease half an hour, but I finally set the mouse traps.  I hate setting those things, takes me forever and I usually smash my finger a couple times.  I did good last night, no smushed fingers.

And this morning, I found one in my trap!  I'm gonna get all of them for leaving turds behind in my house!

Speaking of mice, my hubby had his photo taken with Minnie Mouse.  I was yelling the whole time for him to grope Minnie, grab her butt or her boobs or something, but he didn't.  Good thing too, cause later that night while watching television I heard about a 67 year old man arrested for groping Minnie!

Oh well, alls well that ends well!

Get 'em Bama, get 'em!  Those sneaky little suckers, they must all have planned it, they talked to their cousins Mickey & Minnie and wanted them to get you outta the house so they could take over.  Oh how dare they!

Ewwww! mice!  I usually try to talk others into setting and emptying the traps whenever that issue pops up.  As for groping Minnie ...... shame on you!

Hege - Such a conspiracy, it had to have been Minnie trying to get back at me!

Uni - Some people think Minnie's kinda hot, just ask that Grandpa that got arrested, things just got a little out of hand!

I'd rather they go fast then to be stuck to a sticky trap with them staring at you. Have you ever seen them ? The guy who came up with that idea should be tarred and feathered . . .

CM - I don't like using those sticky traps, makes me feel bad to see them suffer.

What did you do at Disney?

Nooo! They're so ickle and cute. When we had that in my house I caught them with my hands and set them free in the fields. Once I had to do it with a rabbit in a pub (my kitchen manager wanted to turn him into a Korma!)

I killed a mouse with a broom once, then felt bad.  But there were extenuating circumstances.....

Glad your hubby isn't the one who copped a feel from the Disney version, and felt the long arm of the "law."  I'll be careful around the court house statue from now on.

Good you are catching them, I hope you enjoyed your trip.

I used to work in a pet food and supply warehouse. I have had to deal with mice, rats and Indian meal moths. The moths are the worst to get rid of but mice were the ones that did the most damage. They'd settle into the bottom of a pallet of dog food bags and gnaw the paper to shreds. They didn't want the dog food; they wanted the paper for bedding. They'd crap and piss around on the bags so that even the un-gnawed ones were unsellable. Then they'd sneak around and gnaw into seed bags for food. So I can't say I have ever been a big fan of Mickey or Mini.

I hope you get those little rodents out. I don't say I don't like mice. But outside is where they belong.

I was in the pest control business for over 25 years.  This is what you need to know.
Mice are dangerous. They will chew through electrical cords to cause fires.
They each put about 2000 droppings (poop) on your floor, cupboards and drawers each day.  They urinate about an ounce each day contaminating your food.  They will BITE you in your sleep!
Mice get into the house through any opening 1/8 of an inch wide or larger.  They will even wait until you open a door to get in.
They nibble, not engorge in one sitting.  They will chew here and there, contaminating many of your food stuffs with disease.

They multiply very quickly.  Usually they are outside in the field and you can have about 20 mice per square yard of field.  They must be killed out there to control them inside effectively

Baiting by professionals (not the stuff you get at the store) is the only way to do this.  A single baiting can get rid of 99% of the entire mouse population in the house in a single day even if you have hundreds of mice.  Do not try to kill them all yourself. This is a mistake.  Give it to the profesionals.  Decon can take up to 7 days of daily feeding for a mouse to get enough to kill it.  That is rarely the case.  The mouse has plenty of opportunity for other food.

If you do try to do it yourself buy mouse traps by the dozens and place them one every 10 feet around the infested area.  IMPORTANT! Place the mouse trap perpendicular to the wall with the trigger facing the wall.  The mouse has very poor eye sight and will crawl along a wall feeling it with its whiskers.  It will come upon the trap best that way.  The trap should be baited with fresh food.  The things mice like best are butterscotch, apple and fish - not peanut butter.  In fact you should tie a bit of food onto the trigger so it won't steal the food without tripping the trap.
Other than food, you can use a cotton wad.  They need it for nesting material and will go for it as much as they would food when food is abundant elsewhere.
Putting the trap in the middle of the floor at night is as effective as against the wall.  Mice explore their territory every time something changes in their environment so changing the location of the trap daily is a good practice.
Use glue traps.  They are gross but they work.  Get them at the store.  The mouse gets stuck (alive) and will cry out in pain and tear at its flesh so  be prepared to be grossed out.  Professionals can use live traps to catch them to be released into the fields.  It depends on your personal choice as to what method you use.
Mice are territorial.  They will make an area 10 feet in circumfrence.  They will fend off other mice so you might have one mouse behind the refrigerator and the next one will be on the other side or in another room.  They do not group like rats will.
A mouse will stay where the food is.  Place a mouse in a sack of grain and several generations will live and die in that sack.  They rarely will go from one room to another unless they are crowded out.

Dust the floor with talcum powder just before you go to bed.  See their foot prints in the morning to find out where they are and where they are going.  Be carefult.  Talc is poisonous.  Do not let children or pets into the area and be sure to vacuum thoroughly so as not to ingest the talc.  You may also use flour but that can be a food source.  It is not to be done lightly, especially if roaches are present.
Bottom line: Call a professional.  You can't do it alone.  You will find this out.

That was really informative. We used glue traps for mice and rats. The rats got stuck the most though we got mice as well. I remember a rat, stuck from tail to jaw on the glue trap, blood seeping from its mouth, and its dark eye seemingly watching me as I came in to check the trap.

WithoutShade - Went to Epcot and Animal Kingdom

Seer - Nothing cute about them when their in my house

Wombat - We went into the shop and I put Minnie ears on and held up the Minnie dress against my body and took pictures with my hubby groping me, thats the best we could do!

MsStar- The trip was a success, thanks!  It was hot, though, about 100 degrees and very humid, no wind

Hotaka - Never heard of indian meal moths!  Mice do too much damage.  Sad story about the one that got caught in the glue trap, poor little guy!

WriteCD- Good info, I didn't know they were so hard to get rid of.
