I dont know what I think of it...im torn down the middle...I have only thoughts id like to state...
First thought...little girls play with bottle fed babies and breast feeding is better than bottle feeding, so it seems alright to have a breast feedings baby doll....
Second thought...the tank top that practically exposes the little girl with the doll, that is over board...
Third thought....I think its good to promote breast feeding...and I think its good that the first thing a girl learns about her breasts is that they are meant to feed a baby and not for her first boyfriend to play with...
Fourth thought...the fact that parents think its inappropriate to teach kids about breastfeeding but think its alright to teach them about bottle feeding is the entire reason i stopped breast feeding...I was locked in my house when i did it because i was practically tied at the stake and burned alive when i tried it in public...
Alright, after writing these thoughts down...I think the breastfeeding doll is inappropriate only because of the tank top that objectifies the little girls playing...I think its good to teach kids about breastfeeding though, but I would NOT want my little girl to run around in public half naked pretending to breastfeed, i would worry about what pervert is watching her...but I WOULD teach my little girl that breastfeeding is good and better than a bottle....
Hows that? What do you think?
Is this shit for real? Seriously?
Nothing wrong with breast feeding, of course.
Nothing wrong with promoting breast feeding as a better way to feed a baby. Of course, it is. (duh.....the human race didn't come with Platex bottles and rubber nipples)
But daisy nipples on a shirt and sucking noises from a doll for children to play with? More than just inappropriate. It borders on commercialism for the sole purpose of making a buck, while coming this close to being sexually explicit, and maybe even abusive. A child can learn of the natural form of feeding a baby in the natural way like we all do.
Or they can just go check out Angelina Jolie's statue, I guess.
Promoting breast feeding is an adult issue. And talking to children about it is the adult's responsibility.
What's next? Stirrups and breathing exercises for pretend birth? Somebody get a grip!
hegemone: you know youre right... you could use dolls like this for pregnancy class but not for leisure toys for kids...
secretlife: no for me too...
star: i'm with you about breastfeeding... it's better to breast feed than bottle feed... but for toys for kids??? and they put flowers instead of nipples??? i'm hegemone that it's better for dolls like this for pregnancy class than toys... keep up breastfeeding little remy... i heard kids who breast feed learns faster than kids that were bottle feed... :-)
hugecock: whatever...
one_wired_kitty: sadly yes it's real...
trav: there's some interesting comments in this post though... :-)
cayenneman: how about pregnant G. I. JOE's???
wombat: the last sentence you made just made me laugh... but youre right.. we all learn this stuff naturally... why can't the next generation do the same???
wow. that is so wrong.
I have 3 daughters at various stages of the growth and developement tree and all three of them think it is disgusting. I have also breast fed all but one of my 5 kids and they have all seen that particular function performed (modestly of course, but i didn't hide it fromt hem). The boys don't think it's kosher either. The thought of their little sister running around with a "baby" attached to their shirt making sucking noises made them both say "ewww!"
Breast feeding is definetely best, and i will teach and support my girls and hopefully my daughters in law (when the time comes) to do so, but small ones don't need to get into all that. I agree that it borders on explicit. It's just wrong.
