      Unicorn,
One of my tricks is to drink 24 ounces of cool water first thing in the morning and then to drink half your body weight in ounces throughout the day.  An RN tells me that will help.  The water first thing in the morning is supposed to kick your metabolism in gear for the day.

      Good Luck!

2 normal size meals a day with mostly vegis & fruit...lots of water and WALK allot!

I agree with CW, and also make sure you eat breakfast every morning, even if it's something as simple and small as a banana.  Just giving yourself that boost so you don't feel like gorging in the middle of the day can help.  Oh, and try to find foods that fill you longer.  Fruits and veggies can be very filling, you'd be amazed at what an apple can do.  Also, popcorn is awesome because you get the snack potential out of it, it's salty, there's crunch, but it's not that bad for you, as opposed to chips and things like that.  Also, try to move a little bit every day, even if it's just a five minute walk that builds up into more.  Good luck, I'm sure you can do it!

the good news is that you're within normal limits already.  The suggestions above are all good ones.  I also find that if I don't eat after 7 pm that I do much better.  I'd like to caution you to not try starving yourself.  This triggers the body to conserve and will actually cause you to gain weight.

My Dr. told me to eat 10 almonds in the afternoon with a glass of water as a snack-when your body wants to gorge before dinner. It really has helped my appeitte. Also I have been walking...not doing anything mayjor just yet, a couple miles in the evening (4 days a week even). Results from little changes like these...5 pds down in 2 months. By no means am I perfect either. I still do all the other stuff I use to.

BMI's not a great indicator of a person's overall health because people are so different, you know?  Bone, muscle and tissue density has a lot to do with a person's BMI and one shouldn't rely on BMI alone.  For example, two people of the same height weighing the same could be very different health wise, if one's a football player and the other a sofa spud, or a Monday morning quarterback, know what I mean?  It is a good enough general guideline, but not one that a person should rely solely on.

      Just my two cents.  :)

      Hi Unicornform,
One of the big problems about weight loss is that we all gain weight for different reasons, and therfore in order to lose the weight, we have to first analyze what is causing us to gain weight. It could be over eating, snacking, emotional eating, lack of exercise, etc.
Each of these reasons has a different treatment in order for you to lose weight. You will not benefit from a diet if you have an emotional problem that causes you to eat because the emotional side will overide the diet and the diet will be broken. Drinking water will not help if you are snacking all day.
For more guidance try have a look at this guideline.
