Ferny: Hey you. It's been a while. :)
I think judging by my last sentence about satiating my curiosity, my answers are pretty obvious, too. While it's good to impart wisdom on to others, I think it's more important to stay curious.
I like the idea of being king of the apes....but I would be a kind and generous king :)
I would rather be the second of the other two but get great pleasure in teaching my princess. I think after a lifetime of learning you have to learn to teach and as Jade points out you can learn much when teaching.
Morning Grape! No king here, i'll come in second anyday. I like learning from the rest. I make a good student as long as my stubborn ways don't get into the way! ;~)
Have a great week. Take care of yourself! ~see ya
1. i wanna be the king...
2. learn something from everyone... :-)
3. both...
a good leader learns from everyone and everything and can be humble enough to be a student in order to be a good teacher... :-)
Jade: Heavy is the crown that rests on the king's head, you know? To be responsible for so many people... Shudder to think... I mean, who in their right mind would want all that responsiblity? Not me.
AJ: I suppose one could argue that when one's on top, there's nowhere to go but down, huh?
superb: A kind and generous king? I could totally see you being just that. A benevolent king to all your lowly subjects... That would incite undying loyalty to you as well. Teaching, and learning while doing so is it's own reward, wouldn't you say?
UniForm: Hmm... Stress may be self induced, but what about the pressure? The expectation of your subject wouldn't go away just because you didn't care about them, you know?
seer: An anrchist, eh? So no law and order for you. Does that mean no discipline either? I wonder how one manages chaos. By managing it, it no longer is chaotic, I guess. I have yet to reconcile that little bit. I wonder if you have. If you have, you'll have to teach me. Impart your wisdom. :)
FAnil: What you said just blew my mind. I can't make heads or tails out of your word salad. Are you sure you're not a bot? If you are, 101101011110101110101010111 to you, too. How'd you know that I was trying to shed a few pounds, btw? A psychich bot to boot? :)
MM&I: How nice of you to stop in! Thanks for the friendly wave! I can totally see you being a good student, but you being stubborn? I don't know about that. :)
Hege: You're absolutely right on the responsiblity front. You'd also have to be pretty sure of yourself to think that you're done learnin'. I don't think we're ever done learning stuff. I try to learn something new every day, myself. Even if it's something totally useless. You never know when it'll come in handy, you know?
CeeDub: Teaching by example is an interesting concept. You'd make a fine example, too. I daresay you've got much to teach the lot of us. :)
uni: Why do I get the feeling that I have much to learn from you? :)
java: Good answers, all of them. Very creative. You're not playing by the rules, but that's quite alright. I think there are many of us who would actively promote such rule breaking. :)
doorti: You know, Julius Caesar would say that he would prefer to be the chieftain of some ho-dunk village of primitives than be second in command of all of Rome, so he would definitely agree with you on that account.
UniForm: Another anarchist? How does one navigate through life with no guidelines?
qp: You can't be the king because you're already the queen. You could be the queen regent of the apes if you wish, but unless you grow a penis, I'm afraid you can't be king. :)
RC: That's a real nice way of putting it. Had kind of a poetry to it. The answer to your question is penny doubled every day for me, please. Especially if I can chart the growth on a biiiiiiig graph. :)
owkitty: No one's saying that you can't teach. Here's the thing, though. A mark of a good teacher is that the student surpasses the teacher, right? Which makes it doubly hard if the teacher doesn't stop learning.
UniForm: Non-fleshy leader? Now you've got me all kinds of confused... I will patiently wait for you to satiate my curiosity. :)
owkitty: Thanks. :)
I've also heard that "those who can't do, teach".
A little derogatory statement about teachers, but a well founded one for most of the teachers out there. There are a few good ones that make a real difference in a student's life, but it's been my experience that there aren't enough of them. Most of the teachers I've encountered are lazy, unionized hacks and perverts. They certainly don't adhere to the true nature of teachers. It's a shame, really.
As a matter of fact, one can argue that the current shape that we're in, the unbridled hostility towards the intelligentsia, worship of material goods, preoccupation of celebrity culture, predominance of the myth of individual exceptionalism, obsession over youth and beauty, what's on TV, are all glaring indictment of the failure of the American educational system.
Whoa. I don't know where that tangent came from.
