Oh gosh, I'm getting so excited just like days before Christmas when you're a kid!

I've always wanted one well, two actually as they are not solitary creatures so having one on its own is very unfare.  I knew that I wanted two boys as the girls can have more health problems.

Today, we went to focus and bought a few metres of cable ducting.  I sat on the floor diligently putting the cables behind the TV into foot long sections that hubby had cut.  It had to be done this way to enable some flexibility of the cables.  Tomorrow I will do the same behind the sofa with the telephone, answerphone and laptop cables and the extension lead itself.  I will also ensure that there is nothing on the floor that can easily be pulled onto some poor unsuspecting, inquisative little creature.

This Friday we go to Skegness to pick up the cage we have already selected.  It is called a 'Reno' and is said to be most perfect for the boys.  Just typing those words 'the boys' I am grinning.  We will ensure the bedding, nest box, wood shavings, litter tray and water bottle are all set up ready for their home-coming on Monday.  I would ideally like to collect them Saturday but I will be going to the local Munch in the afternoon followed by a Biker Night in Skegness.

Monday we go to collect the boys.  We have not yet decided on colour so long as I can tell them apart ha ha!  I'm still thinking of names for them but their own colouring or character may help us with that little dilemma.

So, on Friday 14th when my sister comes up to see me with the twins, I will be able to introduce them to my darling little baby boys.  My darling little rats.

Hey DD - good to see ya girl!!  You;d be amazed what a great pet they make.  They are the cleanest pet to have and you would literally have to be killing them to get them to bite you so, supervised, they make great children's pets too.  They are intelligent so need stimulation and you can teach them things just like a dog.  Like dogs they are affectionate to their owners and give the same affection back and they will come when you call their name too.  Oh I can't wait!!

Hege - I'll take some piccies and put them up here when they arrive.  Honestly they really are just the cutest things.  An old friend of mine whom I used to visit with a bottle of cider every Saturday, had 2, Rosie and Rebecca.  I called her Rebs though cos she was a little rebel lol!  She would stand on my lap, hold my glass with her tiny little hands and take a little sip now and then ha ha!

Rose - aaw, mice are just sooooo cute!  There were 5 all asleep in the petshop in miniature fish tanks.  The way they were just laying all over each other was so commical.  Yes, can't wait to swap baby photos lol!

Rats are ace! No wonder you're excited :) I had one when I was little, they're just so cute!! And their tails, I love their tails. You're so lucky. Glad to hear there is some good news for you at a difficult time. I will be praying for you and your sister. Take care.

PC - That sounds SO cute!  Lol.  I totally can not wait for those pictures.
  • pusscat said on Aug 06, 2009....
Yup DD - I'm gonna have hours of fun and so are they lol!

amethyst (btw, are you amethyst as in born in February?  Had to ask as so am I).  Aaw you ought to get a couple.  We chose them today when we picked up the cage.  The cage is all set with the wheel and water bottles and food bowls etc.  Thank you for you kind words hun :-)

Hege - oh gosh I can't wait!  I originally wanted 2 totally different colours but when I saw the brothers today I had to have them.  The large dark grey one is going to be called Zappa after my idol Frank Zappa and the smaller brother is going to be called Aero as in Aerosmith ha ha!  Monday just won't come quick enough!!
  • Hegemone said on Aug 06, 2009....
PC - Ha, those are such neat and cute names for them!  I can't wait til Monday now either, lol!

amethyst is my submissive name given to (half of) me by my Dom, I'm a June Gemini so more a Moonstone kinda gal. Are you in to crystals? You could try including them in your alternative therapies for your sister :)
On the pet front I already have three fish and two spiders and have been forbidden from having any more as He bought me a house plant a week ago and it's dead already :s
  • WillsRose said on Aug 06, 2009....
^^ i'm terrible with plants but i can't live without animals. i think Master is slowly coming to the realisation that wherever i go, about a thousand animals will have to come with me.

not too sure how He feels about that, not being much of a (non-human!) pet Man Himself! ha ha!

ohh, pusscat, i love those names. rock and roll! how cute! i've got a Sabbath (my cat) named after black sabbath, haha, and my newest addition is named Jambi after a Tool song.

    How exciting!

amethyst - a Gemini eh?  I'm sure you're aware that Gemini, Libra and Aquarious are the only 3 star signs in the Zodiac that can mix and match together with the male/female of any of those 3 signs.  Spiders - I used to have a phobia but cured myself by just loving nature so much, no I will nudge them into safe places, sweep around their little webs so I don't disturb their dinner ha ha!  I will rescue an ant from a puddle or a fly out of the sink lol!

Rose - anyone who loves animals is just a beautiful person in my books.  Cat called Sabbath - that is definitely a cool name lol!  I know Wyl loves you enought to accept them all (the poor man ha ha)
  • ame_thyst said on Aug 07, 2009....
Yup yup pusscat, and Sir is a Libra :) I used to have two lickle gerbils called Slayer and Angel of Death, well just Angel for short. My two spiders are called Fish and Frog, my three fish are called Spider, Fly and Cow. I used to have another fishee called Chicken but he is no longer with us :( I don't really like spiders in general (not that I'd ever say that in front of my babies) but in their cages they're mesmerising to watch.
  • pusscat said on Aug 07, 2009....
Oh wow - that's what I call a menagerie lol!  And those names ha ha!  Brill.  Considering I am one I can't believe I spelled Aquarius wrong but it was early in the morning for me.  What spiders do you have?  my faves are the Chilean Rose Kneed Tarantulas - they are just so elegant.  I love the others of course too.  It's hard to believe I used to be so afraid of them.
  • ame_thyst said on Aug 07, 2009....
Just normal house spiders. W/we just put one out in the greenhouse in her cage as she has been nesting for ages now and was getting really mad at U/us for keep taking her egg sacs out. There's no way W/we could contain teeny tiny babies, they'd be all over the house. Hopefully this way she'll fufil her motherly instincts and not be driven to lay any more :s

Aw PC...rats are wonderful pets. I'm so glad you're getting a couple...you'll have so much fun with them.
  • Swanwing said on Aug 10, 2009....
I like the boys too as they are easier to handle and to train.
  • pusscat said on Aug 10, 2009....
Hello Swanwing - they are quite commical at the moment as they find their feet in their new large cage.  They look so small at the moment bless em.  I am looking forward to training them :-)

    OMG!!!!  Cute factor 10!!!

What an unusual colour too.  Can't wait to take some of my own.  they're so bloody fast aren't they?  Just as the flash goes off they move before the pic is finished grrrr!
  • WillsRose said on Aug 12, 2009....
she is a kinda funny colour. has the cutest white splodge on her face though.

the easiest time for photos is when they're eating or cleaning themselves! i gave jambi a handful of grass and daisies and that was the result. she had the best fun for about half an hour until it was strewn EVERYWHERE and i had to clean her house out. seems to like eating the flowers more than anything else.

can't wait to see your babies, glad you're having fun and taming them- jambi was pretty wild when i got her, too. pet shops are crap for handling.
