I am currently employed by the United States government, and have been for the past 6 months. My job description is to find and apply for a minimum of 3 jobs per week, with no maximum. These jobs can be found online, through agencies, through job fairs, through friends and relatives, or by any other means of finding an open position to apply for, regardless of my qualifications to actually get and perform that job. The only restriction is that the position must actually exist, it must be a legitimate posting for a job.
My job description also states that I must continue with my education and maintain a passing grade. I am currently in my Senior year at ITT technical Institute with a GPA of 3.89 and a quarterly average of 99%.
I set my own hours, I have no supervisor, and my only deadline is a weekly filing for proof of jobs applied for.
For meeting these two job requirements, the government has agreed to pay me a defined amount .
This is a temporary contractual position without benefits and I am responsible for my own taxes.
This position could be classified as 'unemployed', but technically it is not, I am providing a requested service to the government of the United States for mutually agreeable weekly compensation and meeting all the requirements of that position on a daily basis. Therefore, my job classification comes under research and education.
