I've never blogged before SoulCast.  I'm a newbie at this.

I was thinking about what I'm trying to accomplish by this.  Heres what I came up with.

1.  A way to vent, express myself, release my feelings and feel better about it.

2.  I'm not great at putting my thoughts into words so I thought this may help.

3.  I have a secret desire of becoming a humor columnist, even though my blogs are not humorous, maybe this is a start at finding out if its a real interest or if I'm any good at writing at all.

4.  I'm very much an introvert (unless you know me) in real life, wondering if I'm any different  here or if it can help me be any more outgoing in my real life.

Now that I'm here, it's very enjoyable.  I love reading others blogs.   It's like a look into someone else life and/or mind.  It's almost addictive at times.  I have a few favorites and I can't wait to read any of their latest blogs.

I don't always comment b/c some have so many comments already, I don't always feel I have anything new or fresh to leave.  Sometimes I don't comment because I don't know enough about the subject to comment.  But I enjoy reading, and whether I comment or not, my thoughts are with you!

So what brought you here and have you learned anything about yourself in the process?

All good and valid reasons to blog.  I came because I needed someplace to vent, and rant since I had no outlet in my day to day life.  Further, I have been infected by the 'writing bug' and I viewed it as an opportunity to be able to write and get it out of my system, even if it wasn't a conventional 'story' but a blog, it was still writing.  Some of the same rules still apply so it works for me.  I never imaged I'd form the bonds I've formed here but I have and I wouldn't change it for anything.

What brought me here?  Sort of an accident as I was casually searching blog sites, after hearing about one on a late night talk show.  I looked that up, and off to the side was an ad for Soulcast.  I clicked on it a few times and decided to finally join--so I could be completely "anonymous" and sort of "be any one I wanted."

    That lasted about an hour.

I am just me, always have been, always will be, and proud to say I have never pretended to be anything else.  Sometimes I get paranoid about that, but I have loosened up more and more over time.  (3 years!)  But still can't post pics and have never shown my mug here.

What have I learned about myself?   That I am a caring person in spite of what some people think in my personal life.  I am always careful to try not to hurt anyone's feelings, I have felt deep emotions from other's posts about their problems, their joys and their dreams.  I've also learned that I can open up and share my own without fear of recrimination.   These folks are the best!

I could say so much more, but I am getting long-winded here.....Hope you continue to enjoy SC and stick around a long time!

Hege - It's funny for me to read your blogs complaining about others, and then I read your comments in reply to other blogs, it's obvious your a kind and caring person.  I can feel you emotion while reading your blogs.  I'm enjoying trying to write out my thoughts.

Wombat - Funny, I thought the same thing when I started, that I could be anyone I wanted......and then found out that I'm still just me.

It's interesting to get to know these people and to feel for them through their blogs, without knowing what any of (most of us) look like.  It makes me realize how much emphasis is put on appearances and how judgmental that people can be.  I'm forming opinions of others based solely on personality.  I like that.  I hope all that makes sense!

I followed a friend here about 3 years ago. I read a few friends now, when they post. Other than that, I occasionally scan to see if there's anything that tweaks my fancy at the moment.

    Hi Bama.  :)

It's been my experience here that you get exactly what you put into it.  I used to contribute more often and more consistently but I no longer have the time and the opportunity to blog as much as I once did.  I have a million stories to tell, just not enough time online or IRL to do it.  I do keep plugging away though.

Hope you do the same.  :)

For me it was to see if I could find out a little more about who and what I had discovered I was - a submissive.  My first Sir told me about the site and said there were quite a few posts I could read to gain more insight.  Little by little I read, got scared, read some more, began to learn and grow.  I have met some wonderful people here in that 3 years.  I then began my own posts (not up anymore though) to gain further insight.

I do also use it to vent and rant or I would go insane - erm - it's a bit late for that I think lol!  I still use SC for the wonderful network of friends I've made, in the lifestyle and not.  I am very rarely judged here and those who have deemed it ok to judge me are just jerks who don't matter ha ha!

Wombat, I joined for the OPPOSITE reason. I used to blog on Myspace, but I watched a program about teen pregnancy, and wrote a blog about abortion, which is a touchy subject, and a 'friend' threatend me with legal action because she said the article was about her abortion. So I had to take it down. Then other blogs I realised I was writing for an audience, like in conversation you will sensor maybe some of your more extreme views and thoughts, so I'm on here to be ME, not to be a censored version.

Alabamagirl, good to see you're on here with this attitude, look forwards to reading your posts!

Good post. Annonimity is a luxury you can enjoy on SC and vent out all your feelings. After reading the various posts on a variety of subjects - it seems, we ordinary mortals on SC - experience the same feelings and have the same social interactions - regardless of where you dwell on this planet.
At least here the SCasters will be giving you honest and down to earth advice. And of course informative too ! Welcome, and looking forward to reading your posts.

I came here originally just to share stories of my life in Japan in case anyone found them interesting. I enjoy writing and telling stories or sharing information and I find blogging is a good medium to practice writing and getting feedback. In the process I have gotten to know a good number of great people from around the world, a few of whom I would call good friends by now.

Like you, I enjoy reading what other people have to share. With some people you can follow important episodes in their lives like marriage, pregnancy, divorce and moving on, etc. But because you can interact with these people I find blogging - at least here on SC - is often more entertaining than TV. It is easy to get addicted to posting, reading, commenting and following up on comments you made or one's others made.

Unfortunately, I have little time for SC these days. Yesterday and today, with some classes canceled, I have had some extra time to visit and leave a trail of comments. But soon I expect I will be off again, returning only fleetingly.

I hope your SoulCast experience remains a good one! Thanks for sharing.

Satyr - I don't personally know anyone here.  When I was thinking about blogging I searched the web and this is the first thing I found and it stuck!

Abbonzai - I've noticed your posts are mostly informational.  Is that what you prefer to read, the informational posts?

Grape - Your right, I've noticed the more I participate, the more response I get.  I enjoy your posts, usually make me laugh.

Unicorn - Same here, just a search and I found all you great people!

Hotaka - I like reading stories from other countries or learning how things are different.  Makes life interesting!

Pusscat -  Good point, great way to find others like yourself, or who you have common interests.

Seer - I'm on Myspace, but don't enjoy it as much.  Just a way to find out what old friends are up to.  Otherwise we don't really communicate much.  Like to look at their pictures and family.

Scipio- I like the variety here, too!

alabamagirl, I am not really a blogger.  I am a rather private person.  I wrote quite frequently when I first got here ... was told the more you read and comment the more readers you'll have.  I took down most of my posts a couple of times, then relented and posted more - LOL.  Go figure.

Satyr - I just read what you have wrote (what wasn't taken down) and enjoyed it!  Congrats on becoming a grandfather!

bama:  Well, my life is pretty funny, I guess.  It has it's moments of pure unadulterated silliness.  I feel it's my duty to share the ridiculousness that is not just my life, but life in general.  If I can get a smile, or a chuckle out of a person, then my job is done.  :)

Kinda like a guy who walks into a disaster area and says out loud, "what happened here?"

I look forward to seeing more posts from you.

    Hello there Alabamagirl (:

I recently came to SoulCast in a way of meeting new people who are fascinated with the hobby of writing like myself. Writing is my passion. I love to express myself, to vent, to help understand myself and the world better through it. It helps heal the broken soul and gains insight. I love to read and write about the topics that matter to me, that nobody else in real life seems to care about, except the SC community. There's always the thoughtful posts and questions that really make me sit down to think for a long time that people out here pop out, and that's my favorite part. I have kept my writings secret in the notebooks, composition journals, flash drives, et cetera... but I wanted somebody to still read it. People to still read it. Without them being from my real life. So I could still get feedback on things that not even my real life family, friends and acquaintances could stand to read because those are things they don't know or understand me - or things that I knew they would fail to understand, know or accept because I'm a very complicated person even at 19. I think and worry about things that I shouldn't be at my age. If you want to know, go see my first few posts especially the one titled "There's no escaping  you." I think you'll understand a bit more.

SC offers a whole bunch of friendly, caring people who reach out to share details and exchange thoughts together. This is exactly what I was looking for, versus MySpace or Facebook. Along the way, we venture together and learn about ourselves in new ways that we hadn't thought before. It's an unique journey I can say for sure. And we will form amazing new friendships on our jouney that we will never forget. Welcome to SC!

I look forward to reading more of your posts (:
