Global economic hardship. We all feel it. More and more people are losing their jobs, less and less employers are able to pay their employees. What about small businesses? What about private business owners? Can they keep up with the financial pressure?

I lost my job. I will, in 30 days, stop working for the company that was the base of my 5 year plan calculations. I have loans to pay back, and the bank rates just jumped a little higher lately. I have to pay rent, and the rental prices just jumped a little higher as well. I have a child, and the cost of raising him decently just jumped a little higher too.... And I lost my job.

I am a remote admin assitant currently. That means that I am working a typical office work from the comfort of my own home. Anything that has anything to do with administration, inculiding invoicing, scheduling, system updates, paperwork processing - you name it, I do it. I even manage the debt collection over an online phone service, so I can call people anywhere in the world to remind them how much they owe the company, and how far behind they are with their payments. Yes, I can do it all from my own home. I never met my bosses, not even one employee of the company I work for. They only know my name and my voice. The other good thing they know about me is that I am doing a good job, and I do not require an office to be kept for me to work at. I am a supplier, not an employee, which means no benefits, no cost to keep me. It all worked out for every one up untill today. The company can no longer keep up with the market. They are closing down.

So I'm thinkg..... What really stops me to provide the same type of services, even part time, depending on the financial abilities of the given customers? This is the age of the computers and remote businesses, isn't it?

Tell me! If you were a small business owner, with no office, or a small budget, would you hire a remote secretary service to manage the borring administrative part of the business? In stead of having an office to hold just so you can receive phone calls, and e mails and all, and to go over all the paperwork and invoicing, etc., you can hire me to all that for you, saving you the office rental, and bills - would you be interested to take up on that offer?

Thank you for the comment UnicornForm. Yes, I agree that the hardship will become more and more of a pressure in the future. I see the hopeless job situation out there today, and I think people start to panic about it. While employers are basically donig us a favour hireing us these days, we can take this to the next level and "do them a favour" by giving them a service they can actually afford. I think there is a future in this remote service, but I can already tell that it'll take time till people will warm up to the idea. Sadly, by that time I believe there will be so many of us offering the same type of services, that that competition will then become my biggest problem. We'll see.....
