I agree with you, but then I go on the faulty assumption (possibly all the way to approaching 1%) that they are all narcissistic. It's a matter of degree with them, what percentage of the lives of politicians is spent in front of the mirror. Their god is the camera with limelight.

    boy do i ever agree.
and why does he have to talk down to us like we're his "students" and he's the master instructor?
  • ALIENated said on Jul 23, 2009....

    Because he is the Fuhrer.

  • SeanRenaud said on Jul 23, 2009....

Of course he's a narcissist.  If were a historic (no matter how the world turns) member of an elite unit of only forty four members and I beat the obvious winner I'd start believing my own hype too.

Though as far as your link goes you may as well have linked back to your own home page and used it as proof that everybody thinks OBama sucks cus you've said it eighty billion years.

One thing that frightens me about him is that he speaks better with the teleprompter.  Almost like a puppet.  Bush can't read.  But when you catch him off the cuff he's pretty damned good.  I'll never forget the chill that went up my spine when (Harriet Myers I think) started to interupt him and he replied "I'm the President of the United States and you will hold your questions until the end."  And what he actually meant was shut the fuck up.  I'm speaking.  It was fucking awesome.  Wish I had it on tape

sean, i had the same thought- that all of the presidents had to be a little bit narcisisstic-  it is an elite boys club.

but they didn't all come off to the american people that way---or as arrogant, which is what my husband called obama last night-

I suppose that link was a little too general. Try this one ...

    http://www.faithfreedom.org/obama.html

In it the author says ...

Not surprisingly, Adolph Hitler also wrote his own autobiography when he was still nobody. So did Stalin. For a narcissist no subject is as important as his own self.

I always thought it was a little weird that Borax had already written about himself and he really has done nothing but stir up trouble. The article also says something we have forgotten ...

For twenty years Obama was part of Jeremiah Wright’s racist church and listened to all the hate which that man spewed against the Jews and the “rich White America.”

This would still be mentioned every other day if Borax was a white man that had attended KKK meetings.

Holy Shit! Call Guiness!! Sean said something un-insulting about Bush! ALIEN - Record this moment...
  • ALIENated said on Jul 24, 2009....

Sean is too smart to be a liberal. I suspect that he only plays that part because it is required that you be a liberal if you live in California.

  • javadewd said on Jul 24, 2009....
Yeah, I actually like reading his stuff. He makes sense when he posts in his own blog, but to me he never makes much sense when he posts on anyone else's... It's a mystery to me!
  • SeanRenaud said on Jul 24, 2009....

I've never been a Bush basher.  When he does (did) good I praise, when he fucks up I bash.  Same as OBama.  Also not a liberal.  Pretty damn close to the center.  Being prochoice and progay does not a liberal make.  PArticularly not when balanced by being pro-capitalism and pro-guns.

It is interesting that Obama seemed to have believed his own hype prior to getting into office.  Though I haven't done enough research and that link while interesting is so biased it's like bringing up Moveon.org as neutral.

  • ALIENated said on Jul 24, 2009....

Yes, it is a bit slanted. But the whole narcissism aspect is interesting and would explain a lot. I think most presidents have to believe in themselves and their abilities, but I would not agree that most of them are narcissistic, preoccupied with themselves and their greatness. As I said, I have always thought him already writing his autobiography was weird. I suppose I would write my autobiography if I thought anyone would buy it and read it, but I am not the narcissist OhBummer seems to be.

  • SeanRenaud said on Jul 25, 2009....

I haven't read his autobiography as a result I don't know what is in it.  With that said he has lead a somewhat interesting life.  He's been raised around the world mostly by his grandmother and mother, managed to come from those humble beggining to graduate from one of the top colleges in the world and close to top of his class if I recall properly and became a US Senator.  That's a quite a bit more than most people ever accomplish.  Again I still agree it's kinda weird.  Mostly cus I think that basically your Autobiography is supposed to be that thing that you don't even finish.  The last two chapters are supposed to be written by someone who admires/love you and writes the afterword because you're dead and the story is over.

I'm sure there were Presidents who were not narcissistic.  I would say that Reagan, Bush 2, Clinton and OBama probably were.  I'd stick with that the audacity it must take to think you believe to be the most powerful man on earth being a narcassist is practically a prerequisite or else we'd have what "supposedly" happened with OBama in 07.  I'm not running for President I'm not ready.  *Crowd.  Shut the fuck up and do it."  No.  "Right goddamned now."  Sigh.  Fine.  But I'm gonna loose to Hilary.

Granted I don't truly buy that story but that is the way it was presented.

  • ALIENated said on Jul 26, 2009....

No, I do not buy it either. It makes a good cover story if he had lost. I was listening to a lady on the radio last night (not sure of her name) and she is convinced that Hillary will challenge Borax in 2012. That would be something. It would end her career, but that would be something if Borax could not even win his own party. I suppose he could run for the Socialist party. I really doubt that a Deathocrat will win in 2012 unless they change their tune now. If not, by then things will be so bad a Republican monkey could win, which would be the 2000 election all over again. No matter how "popular" Al Gwhore might have been at the time, the powers that be knew that he should not be president, and everything that could go against him did go against him. That is the purpose of the electoral college. The popular vote is not always the right vote. The 1960 election proved that ... to Democrats.

  • SeanRenaud said on Jul 26, 2009....

Wow.  You live in this crazy fairy land where the 2000 election wasn't won by a combination of "I'm a Kennedy Damnit!" and even then PLUS a scandal was so close it had to be decided by the US Supreme Court.  The powers that be?  Pshh.  It was a freak occurance and Gore should have been president.

One a side note Chenney was picked especially because he was so old that he couldn't be president afterwards.

Hillary won't challenge, she effectively can't.  If she made a serious run at it it would more than end her political career.  It would send Democrats into the hole that Republicans are in now only a few notches farther down.

Republicans really need to start circling the wagons and they aren't.  The only way that Republicans can win (which you seem to be admiting) is if OBama turns out to be the worse president ever.  If he is truly Jimmy Carter and he gets Carters problems (namely Iran and the oil embargo cus without that he would have had a chance in the next election.  A slim one cus RR was damn good.  Kinda like Bush would have gotten eight in any universe that didn't have Clinton.) that you win.

  • ALIENated said on Jul 26, 2009....

Borax will not be able to pull the economy out of the dumper because he will not do the right things. He cannot do the right things because he is a Deathocrat. By 2012 the economy will be so bad, even if he did not add to it with things like his horrible, horrible healthcare legislation, voters will vote for anyone not a Deathocrat. Even now he is merrily skipping along, focusing on the wrong things (like healthcare) when the economy is the most important thing right now. He needs to do the things a Republican would do (or at least try to do) like cut taxes and get government out of the way as much as possible, drill for our own oil, kick job-stealing illegals out of the country, etc. This is a time for tough love, not a nanny state. Anyone who can still afford to drive a car in 2012 will have a bumper sticker that says something like I VOTED FOR CHANGE, NOW THAT IS ALL I HAVE IN MY POCKETS.

Sarah Palin would be a disaster for the Republicans,
in my humble opinion.
