The warm pool Snorri Sturluson used in the 1170's
Snorri came here out of the tunnels to enter his pool.
Hraunfossar.
Barnafossar, Childrens waterfalls.
At the playground.
At midnight.
First of all this is the second last post.
I woke up at 10. Pálmi was connecting a gas container to the camper. He had woken at 9. He went to the road shop and got the gas.
It had been warm in the night. I knew it would get too warm in all those cloths and had prepared my self.
I laid a thinner cardigan on the bench beside me. I also laid the cloths that I was going to use the next day there. I woke up in the night and could not find it. Pálmi had put it in the other bed, I found out later. I was not happy.
The children were warm and we woke them up.
After breakfast and some preparations we set off. We drove through the county Borgarfjörður, where we were.
We came to a hot spring named Deildartunguhver. It had the most water of European hot srpings. The water comes up 100 C and it is clear.
After that we visited a place named Reykholt. There is a school there, churches are there and there is a little pool, that Snorri Sturluson who wrote sagas in the 1170's had. He used a tunnel to go to his pool. There he would sit and soak in the warm water, just like we still do in the so called hot pots.
Now we went to Hraunfossar and Barnafossar where some children drowned trying to go over a natural bridge made of stone. This was in the 1700 hundreds and they were left alone at Christmas while the people on the farm were in the church. Today we don't understand this but it might have been different then.
Now we went to the place Húsafell where we stayed. We camped and Pálmi took us to a very expensive restaurant there. We just had 4 hamburgers, french fried and some soda. This was almost 8 thousand kronas and we paid for something like that at 2.500 kronas before. Well.
I took the children to the swimming pool at the camping place and after that they wanted to play in a play ground there. We went back to the camper got the camera and Pálmi went with us to the play ground. The children had a good time
We came "home" had a soup and sandwiches and played cards. After that we went to sleep. The evening was wonderful. It felt like a little village there. There were family people all over, mums and dads with children, grand moms and grand dads with children, couples, and foreigners enjoying Iceland.
