It was a cool, sunny day yesterday.

This whole summer's been unseasonably cool.

In fact, us oldtimers were saying that this was the coolest summer ever.

I had spoken to a friend of mine whom I hadn't spoken to in quite some time.

I quietly disapprove of his lifestyle, which is the reason why our communications dried up.

Regardless, I was glad to hear from him yesterday, as it had been a while.

He was at a mutual friend's house nearby and he wanted to know if I wanted to stop by.

This mutual friend was another guy that I hadn't seen in a long time.

Even longer than my other friend.

I lost touch with him because we're both lazy people.

One could say that we're too busy with our own lives, I guess.

It's not just that...

I was more friends with his younger brother.

It had been a while since I had seen either of these fellas, so I agreed to meet them at my buddy's new place.

He had just bought a house not too far from my house, actually.

So I made the drive over there, parked on the street in front of his house.

That's when I saw her.

She was lying on the grass in between my two friends, who sat on the lawn talking.

I approached them, exchanged greetings, and was introduced to her.

Her name was Shiloh.

She had beautiful eyes, and an infectious smile.

I couldn't help but smile widely as she took an immediate interest in me.

I stood there grinning the biggest fool's grin there ever was.

I never thought I'd be into "that type", but here I was trying to imagine a situation of being with someone like her.

It was just an idle fantasy, but still...

Life sure has a way of throwing you a curve ball once in a while, don't you think?

I took a couple of pictures of her in case you wanted to see.

There...  Isn't she just precious?  She's slightly overweight at 8 pounds, but I think she's just adorable!!!  The second picture I took so that you could see how big she was in relation to the car.

My friend has three others about that size.  One of them is a Chihuahua/Pocket Pomeranian mix named Peanut that only weighs 6 pounds.  He was on a road trip so I couldn't take a picture of him yesterday, but I will next time I get a chance.

I had never been into small dogs before, but I gotta admit, those little buggers are awfully cute.  My friend also pointed out that no matter what kind of a mess the dog makes, you can usually clean it up with a single square of paper towel.  He also said that having four of these little dogs are like having one medium sized dog, pretty much.

There I said it.  That was my confession.  I like teeny dogs.  Maybe one day I'll even get one.  Though for now, they only reside in the realm of fantasy.

I don't know what it says about a man.  I just know that I like them now.  I'm perfectly comfortable in my sexuality to like teeny dogs if I want to.  :P

I hope you don't think any less of me because of this, because that would be most unfair.

Well, it's out there now.

I await your judgment.

As always, thanks for the visit.

Grape.

P.S.

Amore:  Please don't tell Romeo about this.  Let him know that he's always been, and always will be my Il Duce, mio numero uno.  :D

I suspected you might have fallen for someone with lots of hair and big eyes :)

grape- I'm kind of grief stricken that you are a teeny dog lover - I think my dog's head weighs more than 8 pounds - but there's time to reconsider this almost mystically wayward notion.

Think about this, eight pounds isn't even enough to warm your feet on cold nights. This is where the phrase 'three dog night' comes in, it's because of teeny dogs.

But I won't judge you. If you want six dogs to make one, its ok with me.

    MMm.

    Cute dog.

    I like roosters more myself.

You had me going there!  Love this kind of post to brighten my day!  I may have missed something there, though.  Exactly what kind of dog is this?  Whatever it is, mix or not, it sure looks sweet, smart and lovable.

What a sweet little dog, Grape.  :-)  This was a really cute post.

Uni:  Lots of hair (blonde) and big eyes...  And a winning smile, to boot.  What's not to love, amirite?  :)

I guess I've always had a soft spot for short little cute blond things.  :D

Beyond:  I know...  It came as quite a shock to me when it dawned on me as well.  I was a little disappointed in myself as well...

The truth of the matter is, I'm nowhere near responsible enough to have a dog.  I can barely keep myself, you know?  So obviously having a dog hinges on me becoming more responsible, I guess.  lol.  Three dog night.  That's a good one.

Machine:  Do roosters make good pets?  I imagine you must be a morning person.  :)

    Welcome to my blog.

wombie:  I think it's a Chihuahua.  I'm not really into Chihuahuas, but this one was just so darn cute!!!  Wait till I take pictures of Peanut.  You'll love him, too.  :)

CeeDub:  Isn't she just adorable?  Not that I'd ever have a dog (though I wouldn't say never, since I am quite taken by a certain boxer/beagle mix), but it was kinda fun to imagine myself being dragged by a team of Chihuahuas on a dogsled.  :D

I can't say as I care for your type of "girl" in this case, but your story kept me til the end!  :)
  • GrapeKoolaid said on Jul 20, 2009....
quietly:  I never thought I'd be the kind of guy that liked small dogs you know?  But there you have it.  I'd be willing to wager that you would like her too if you saw her.  She was quite the cutie.
  • Hegemone said on Jul 20, 2009....
Oh I knew it was going to be a dog!  I just didn't know what kind, lol.  I'll give it to you, she is a cute one, and looks like she's got plenty of feisty attitude too.  So what if it's a little dog?  Doesn't mean she's not got just as much personality or just as painful of a bite as a bigger dog.  Feel better now that you're out with this?  Lol.
  • queenparanoia said on Jul 20, 2009....
    i thought so!!!!

    i agree she's a cutie... :-)

Grapey, If I'd known you were into that type, I coulda hooked you up!

Jk, Shiloh looks like my dog or well, ex-dog.  I had to give him to a friend when I moved.  I was heart broken but I'm not so sure about the dog.  He's living the life now.  My friend spoils him beyond comprehension.

I hear there are groups that people like you can attend for this sort of thing.  I've seen them on TV.  Everyone sits in a circle then one by one, you have to stand up and say, "Hello  My name is Grape and I'm a Teeny Dog lover". . . hee hee.

Gotta admit though Grape, that sure is one gooooooorgeous little honey :-)
  • hotaka said on Jul 21, 2009....
I saw it coming. Lying between your two friends? I figured it must be a dog. You sly dog, you.
  • alabamagirl said on Jul 21, 2009....
I believe you must be a softie,  a softie with good taste!
  • CayenneMan said on Jul 21, 2009....
Hot damn !  She is really hot  !  I don't know what I would have done had I missed this post :o) !  Thank God I left a trail of bread crumbs and brought plenty of rope . . . hopefully it won't take me long to climb back to the top and get out of here :o)  !

Hege:  I do feel better now that I've admitted my affinity for cute little critters.  I'd always been more of a cat person and I guess if I were to have a dog, I'd like one that a cat could beat up.  :)

qp:  I know!!!  I was gushing the other day when I saw her.  :)

fearing:  Oh...  :(  I'm sorry to hear you had to give away your little friend.  I hope you still get to visit him once in a while...  :)

secret:  Your comment got truncated, I think.  "that little..." could end in so many different ways, you know?  :D

ed:  Nice to see you too, ed.  Sorry.  I live in an age of broken consumer electronics so my time online is rather limited.  I'll send you an email soon and we'll catch up, ok?  I apologize for not keeping in touch.

RC:  Ack!  I was afraid of your judgment!!!  XD

It's not the size of the dog, but the size of the fight in the dog, right?  She sure was spunky.  :)

PC:  Hmm...  Teeny dog lovers anonymous?  Support group for burly men who love little dogs?  (Though to confess, I'm not really burly) I'll have to look in the phone book.  I wonder if there's a 12 step recovery program...  :)

hotaka:  It's not like I tried to hide it or obfusticate the issue.  Of course it was a dog.  :)

bama:  I'm sure there are a few folks out there that can attest to the fact that I am indeed, a softie.  Geez...  Is that another important admission about myself?

Thank you for your kind words.  I'd like to think I have good taste.  :)

CMan:  Isn't she though?  If you look at the second picture, you can see that she's about as big as the headlight on that old Honda.  Which makes her about...  10 inches?

Hope you find your way back out ok.  :)

MStar:  Shh!  Thanks for keeping a tight lid on this...

Psych-ed:  Thanks for stopping in!  I'm glad you enjoyed the post.  :)

To All:  Do any of you think that liking a toy dog says something specific about a person?  If so, what would that something be?
  • pusscat said on Jul 21, 2009....
Ha ha!  Only a 4 step programme - one for each paw lol!

To be honest my thought is that it is a sign of wanting to nurture.  Big dogs do tend to have that look about them of, "I can take care of myself", whereas a teeny dog needs much care and guidance and nurturing.  To be loving and nurturing are fine qualities to have Grape :-)

LOL! Can I admit I didn't need to scroll down to confirm my suspicions?

    Cute dog. ;-)
  • secretlife said on Jul 21, 2009....

awww i hate when that happens!

:-(  i have no idea what i was saying besides twice the size of that little doggie.

oh oh i just remembered!  lol

the smaller the dog is, the bigger their attitude!

  • gingersoul said on Jul 21, 2009....
    No way!......lol.....

"That thing has a name??"  (as Hermione would say...)

And actually the only thing i like about her is her name.....Shiloh is pretty cool.

Sorry, but I think BeyBey nailed it!........;-D

i see doggy purses and doggy stollers in your future, cute little doggy outfits...lol!
  • GrapeKoolaid said on Jul 21, 2009....
PC:  That's a nice thing to say.  Thank you.  :)

Truth be told, I'm not a dog person at all.  I mean, I understand the idea of companionship and loyalty and all that, but they're entirely too much responsibility for me.  They lose out in the cost/benefit ratio for me at this point.  You have to walk the damn thing every single day come rain or shine, no matter how you're feeling.  I actually feel bad for a lot of dogs that have to stay cooped up in a house or an apartment, especially in the city.  These dogs were bred (talk about intelligent design) to cover great distances and now they take a stroll around the block on a leash.  At least toy dogs don't have to cover as much ground, I guess.

I think that's why I like cats better.  Because they're more independent, can take better care of themselves.  The dog will protect your house and belongings.  The cat will eat your face when you die.  Yup, that's why I'm a cat person.  :)

Alyss:  Oh you know I'd never stray.  :D  [slaps knee]

secret:  You know, that's so true.  I think it's probably because they have more to prove.  Amirite?  :D

Amore:  You don't like the Staffies, don't like the Chihuahua...  Only Boxer/Beagle mix for you, huh?  No pleasing some people, I tell ya...  :P

You didn't Romeo, did you?  [bites lower lip nervously]  I wouldn't be able to look at him in the face if he knew...

fraggles:  [gasps]  The things you say!!!

I personally have a weakness for blue eye's, I meet her once, Elsa was her name.
    She was a great husky.

I personally don't like small dogs, like beyond.

    But I won't judge you.
  • speaking_up said on Jul 25, 2009....
I do judge you, grape...this is just an abomination!!!!  Your attractions are very weird indeed.

    *smiles*
  • GrapeKoolaid said on Aug 03, 2009....

Voltaire:  Blue eyes on a dog is cool.  I've seen a few dogs that have blue eyes...  Kinda freaky, actually.  Take all kinds, I guess.  :)

How would you feel about a little dog with blue eyes?

speaking_up:  Well, leave it to you to speak up on your disdain and your judgment.  ;)

You wouldn't think my attraction so weird if you saw Shiloh in person.  :P
