Gardeners are - let's face it - control freaks. Who else would willingly spend his leisure hours wresting weeds out of the ground, blithely making life or death decisions about living beings, moving earth from here to there, changing the course of waterways? The more one thinks about it, the odder it seems; this complusion to remake a little corner of the planet according to some plan or vision.
~ Abby Adams, What is a Garden Anyway

Today i reap my rewards for the labor i have put into my gardens. I feel like someone has whooped on me but i'm all smiles. I worked my gardens from noon till 8 today. The gathering of fresh veggies are simply a blessing. I still have my herbs to cut, gather and dry.

Humor me..... ;~) I dug up at least, if not more, 50lbs. of potatoes, 15lbs. of carrots, 20 huge bell peppers, loads of sweet peppers, too many cucumbers, summer squash out the butt, at least 10 lbs of green beans....oh, 5 eggplants. *smile* The tomatoes are unbelieveable, i don't allow them to bloom till june.... makes bigger and stronger plants....i quess fruit too. The tomatoes will be made into spag.sauce and paste.

This was not the first picken. I have had three wheel barrows full already plus the daily gatherings these past few weeks. My freezer looks good! And it ain't over with yet! This winter there's going to be alot of veggie soup!
Well i just wanted to share my abundant day with you. *smile* I hope you all had a nice day or night.
Thanks for stopping by. Take care xo ~see ya

Wow, your garden makes my head spin, lol.  Ours is I'm sure tiny in comparison to what you've got going on.  Although, my dad having picked 27 cucumbers from our garden today, with a probable equal stock for tomorrow, is still a lot to me.  Oh there's going to be so many to pickle.  I hope the process goes as smoothly as the last round, lol.  I bet it's so rewarding for you though, being able to provide for yourself so well, and I bet it all tastes delicious.  Oh all of those fresh veggies are making me hungry now.

I so admire anyone who gardens.  I think it takes a special love of plants to nuture a garden along and it must give you immense pride to see it flourish as greatly as yours seems to!!  That's a lot of veggies!  There is nothing like a home grown tomato, they really do taste better. :)

Hegemone ~ I know the feeling! lol.... lordy! the first gathering i froze in containers. i'll be doing the same today with all this food. with the cukes, i'm going to make this chow-chow. i have several recipes, don't know exactly which one i'll use. but i have had a bowl of vingeger, sugar, onions and cukes sitting in the fridge since....oh.... weeks! good stuff. i made stuff peppers and cabbage rolls a couple of weeks ago and froze them. yup, it's rewarding and alot of back-breaking work and sweat! i deserve to have a freezer full! *smile*

Batty ~ been there and done that! i hoe alot....lol. this spring i got Preen, i like how it works. all organic, stops weeds before they start! it doesn't kill weeds just a preventer. (i'd make a good commerical huh) LOL i am blessed! *smile*

Queenie ~ i have taken pictures of it all. from beginning to every harvest. i will go to radio shack and get the cord i need to load onto this computer and then....i'll have show and tell here on SoulCast. today for meals, i'll make squash and pepper fry, green beans with onions, fried egg plant and a nap. lol....

Secret ~ lol..... if not more lady! potatoes as huge as my fist. carrots that are huge and sweet! yup, i'm a crazy woman that has been blessed with food! i have 18 pepper plants that have saved me a good hunk of cash. you figure at the store i have paid 72 to 90 cents a pepper....i love peppers in almost everything. so i chop and freeze on a cookie sheet, they don't stick together so when i want a handfull put into something, i can! . too cool! *smile* fried taters everyday too. lol

Uniquely ~ everything taste better from the garden....safer too. yes i do take great pride in the whole act of gardening....from seed to food. *smile* my love came thru each plant. you should see my flower garden, i'll take a walk........ right out the back door is my circle of herbs, smell.... ;~) then  :~o morning glories in full bloom, pink, blue, purple and shades in between....sunflowers 12 foot tall, great birdseed.... cosmos as tall as me, not saying much since i'm only 5 ft 3..... daisies, larkspurs, tressils of gourds and their beautiful huge whit blooms..... and my favorite snapdragons, all colors, so showy. theres more but ....i won't bore you. *smile* oh and don't forget home grown fried green tomtoes!

Well Thanks for sharing a wonderful moment with me! this is good for the soul, all away around. ahhhhhhh have a great day. i'll be busy this afternoon, go figure! take care xo ~see ya

Raindove ~ it was just a cute quote i liked. i'm a quote nut. most gardeners are picky about things, like cooks! i do that too. one day, my dream in life is to own a "you pickem" small farm. from berries, fruits and veggies with my craft flowers to make things with and sell. someday, i dream it, wish it and i WILL have my desire. cut and dry! lol. take care ~see ya
