Of course I had to bring my gnome friend....

Alaska 008

He got drunk and fell into his drink on the plane.

Alaska 030

Downtown Vancouver B C at 11pm leaving port.

 Alaska 146

A whale of a tail........ humpback whale!

Alaska 317

Leaving Juneau at 11pm

I have been on 3 cruises now, and I can say with out a doubt that this was the best one!  I can't even convey the beauty we saw, as these photos don't even begin to do Alaska justice.

It has been really hard for me to get back into the routine of going to work... ugh.  sigh,....I still want to be on vacation.... out of the humidity - out of the rain!!

I told you already how impressed I was with the pictures, specially the one with the whale.

And I giggled with the pics featuring your gnome.

I am curious about the video you took... remember polly posted this blog about posting video on SC:

Ah ha........I caught you guys talking about me. I see Alaska captured your heart and imagination Quiet. The Inland passage is so beautiful.

I drove up the Alcan back in the late 60's, almost 1200 miles of dirt road at that time. I flew up and rode the Alaskan RR, toured Danali, cruised the Gulf of Alaska and my Buddy flew us up the Yukon River and North of the Artic Circle fishing.

It's a wonderful place, glad you got to see it, sorry about the humidity and the damn rain and work and the general bullshit of being home. Best thing to do now is begin planning another trip.

Absolutely beautiful pictures, and I thought that was really neat catching the whale too!  Sounds like it was a really fantastic cruise.  He he, and I hope your gnome friend wasn't too hung over after falling in his drink on the plane!

Just seeing these few of your combined 1,000 + photos is enough to know that must have been such an exciting and beautiful trip from start to finish!  I still like the night city scene--now I know it was of Vancouver.  The train ride would have been fun for me.  You know how I love those trains!  Was it a little scary on the climb up?  How long were you on the cruise itself?  Just wondering how it was on the boat.

Thanks for posting and sharing your wonderful vacation.  I'm glad you got to go and have a lovely time!

hi ya memy, wish you could show us pics of your wonderful gardens... that would be awesome.

paper ~ I went to the site that polar did, but that was just for posting from youtube.  Not to upload one... just to complicated for me!  LOL but thanks!

skald ~ thanks for stopping by as busy as you have been posting in 2 different laguages..... wow!

ginger ~ it was a dream come true for me too... even though I lived so close to taking the cruise out in WA, I never did it then.  So, one more thing off my "bucket list"  :)

woman ~ hi, nice to see you!  yes, it was a wonderful trip and we are all ready to take it again!!

bhalah ~  yes, it is light almost 24 hours a day up there in the summer.  Better than winter where it is just the opposite.. that must be awful.

mobil ~  who else would we be talking about??? hmmmm?  I can see you in the 60's bebopping your way up in Alaska in a hippie van or something.  LOL It is beautiful country, and I am so glad I did finally get to see it!

raindove ~ yes it was a great vacation, that just ended too soon...   :/  but gotta come back to reality some time and save up for my next adventure I suppose!

hedge ~  ha, that gnome took off on me and got lost for a couple of days on the ship!  I couldn't remember where I put him... and no, I wasn't drunk either! but I did see another girl with another bigger gnome doing the same thing.. wish I would have thought to take a pic of both of them!

scipio ~ yes, it is a heavenly place, Gods country for sure!

queenie ~ hi daughter dearest... hehe... thanks

wombie ~ we were gone for 7 days from start to finish.  The ship was Holland American, an older ship, and small as it has to be to cruise the inside passage like that.  But, it was the best room I have had.  We had sliding doors that went right out onto the deck.  pretty cool... the foood........ well, oh yummmmmy!!!!!
  • wombat said on Jul 19, 2009....
Oh wow!  I know that must have been so cool!  I would not have slept at all, afraid of missing a moment.  I would be out those sliding doors and on the deck all the time!  (well, with a life preserver in one hand and a drink in the other!)  I can only imagine, but just the thought of the views, the food, the great room makes me wish you had tucked ole wombie in that bag and taken me along!  Ha.
  • quietone said on Jul 19, 2009....
wombie ~ next time I will tuck you in like I did my gnome!  just don't fall into your drink like he did!   And, I doubt you would have stayed out on the deck, as it was fairly windy and cool!... like 50ish
  • wombat said on Jul 19, 2009....

You'd be surprised how much cool air and wind I can take when I'm having fun with a drink in my hand.  I would not fall into "my drink", but might fall into the drink!  Headlines:  Local woman disappears from cruise ship.

  • UnicornForm said on Jul 20, 2009....
pretty. i wish i could stand the cold.
  • quietone said on Jul 21, 2009....
Unicorn ~ it wasn't really cold there.  About 65 I would say with no humidity.  Nice.
