at our camping place in Akureyri. We rented a camper and took the grandchildren Freyja and Þór on a tour to the north of Iceland.
I wrote a diary on the way as I usually do and here are som things form it.
Pálmi was waken by the phone at 8 am. He thought this was the man who rents us the camper. Pálmi was too late taking the phone so he phoned back.
It was not the man but this lead to us getting the camper at once.
We were not to get it until betweeb 3 and 5. It was just as well as it took us hours preparing, even though we had packed and all was ready to go in the camper the night before.
It was half past two when we set off.
Þór made a song and he sang it and sang until Freyja and I were singing with him too; Our first stop was in Baula, Borgarfjörður.
We drove for a long time and the children were ever so good. We stopped in two more places. Had hot dogs and hamburgers in the next one.
We came to Akureyri at 9 o'clock. I phoned a friend who said we could camp in the medows by her house in a village near but this was just false. She said it was not allowed.
So we camped in the camping place by the swimming pool in Akureyri. I did not like the place and I did not know where the other camping place was.
It took us a long time getting ready. It was difficult getting the door in and the gas heater would not ligh up. Even though it was 14 c it felt cold. The wind from the sea was so cold. In Reykjavík 14C feels warm. So it is not always just the temperature that tells the story.
Finally we got the heater to do it's job. It was 1 am when we could go to sleep.

It made me smile from ear to ear to see your blog on My Users, dearest skald <3

    (((huggies)))

I love camping, and have done a trip with K in 1996 from Thuringia through the former East Germany tour, until we reached the biggest island in Germany, Rügen.  K fulfilled my wish of a camping holiday, and it was one of those memorable memories of Germany for me.

I hope Piet and I can one day do it with the children, and tell them the history of how the West & East Germany united.

BTW, I might stay a week in Berlin after the 24th :) .

Again, thank you for posting, dearest skald.  It lifted my spirits up reading your words archiving memories of your life , and the familiar style of your images.  It brought back pleasant memories of the past - very calming.
