I skimmed to the last bubble -- carbon credits, global warming, etc. When are Democrats going to see the light and stop electing these bozos because they promise to protect abortion and advance the homo agenda.

Fast-forward to today. It's early June in Washington, D.C. Barack Obama, a popular young politician whose leading private campaign donor was an investment bank called Goldman Sachs — its employees paid some $981,000 to his campaign — sits in the White House. Having seamlessly navigated the political minefield of the bailout era, Goldman is once again back to its old business, scouting out loopholes in a new government-created market with the aid of a new set of alumni occupying key government jobs.

Kudos to the writer and Rolling Stone for running it.

alien....you got to read the whole thing.....as far as I can tell, Clinton and Bush are up to their necks in this shit....look at the time line...they are all guilty.
  • ALIENated said on Jul 16, 2009....

That makes sense. Maybe they are the Illuminati or whatever the real name is. Politicians on both sides do some things that are just hard to fathom. Maybe it is because some powerful organization like that has something on them or something. I was thinking the other day that we squawk about freedom and liberty, but how much freedom and liberty do we really have. Both sides seem to want to control everything one way or another. Government has gone from a necessary evil to Big Brother in my lifetime. By the way, does the article explain who Goldman and Sachs are (were)? Sounds like a couple of old Jewish guys. (I am right according to Wikipedia. Goldman was a German Jew and Sach was his son-in-law.)

yeah.....it gives the whole story.....they started ripping people off in the 20's and haven't stopped!

Evaporating pensions....commodity manipulation....it's just a big shell game scam!
  • javadewd said on Jul 17, 2009....
Didn't we just send Madoff to jail for the rest of his life for this shit?

So let's see? Domestic terrorism = Blowing up a thieving financial company?

Definitely puts a black eye on capitalism. Those bitches should pay!
  • D6fer said on Jul 18, 2009....
jd......I don't understand why more people aren't up in arms about this.....our President is involved in this.....Bush was involved....Clinton was involved....maybe even Bush 41, I don't know....Reagan? Carter? ETC?

This will never change unless people become aware of it and speak up!

This should have been my longest thread ever.....but people don't seem to care or want to get involved.....Every American should be on the same side on this issue....anyone from any country for that matter......as much as our economy affects the world, this should piss off anyone!

    Typical.
  • javadewd said on Jul 19, 2009....
No, D6, it's just that no flaming liberal would dare stick their neck out to defend it. That's why it isn't longer...

I still stick to my guns that the back-lash of the current president's policies will send this country down yet again the wrong road. Once he's done fucking it all up, the corporations will come in and turn this country into a William Gibson novel. In essence, if you think Goldman Sachs was bad, just consider all aspects of government that are failing : health care, employment, assets, etc; being privatized. It's slavery in reverse, but nobody sees it. If McCain would have done half of the shit that BO has done so far, I'd be screaming just as loud and maybe consider changing my vote to the next democrat. We already knew that no matter who came into office, money to some degree would have been spent and taxes raised. Those issues at face are of no consequence. The amount of such is worth complaining about (no matter which side of the isle set it in motion) and so is all the residual crap including : overloading bills will over a thousand pages and giving congress no time at all to actually read them, meeking out the US to every other country in the world, taking over private industry using the veil of bailouts, attempting to cap salaries (at any level) and otherwise circumventing capitalism as a whole. It sets the stage for a type of ultra-capitalist back-lash.

JD.....here's the problem......they are all in this together! Republicans too! This isn't about political affiliation.....it's about corruption.
  • javadewd said on Jul 19, 2009....
Yes, but whoever is in power = not corrupt, according to whoever is in power.

Yes, both sides are corrupt. Who has the power to change that? You'd think it was the people, but the people are bemused by who is in power. Lemmings! Shit, we'd be flogging McCain with a whip if he did half of what Obama has done... Just think of what will happen when corporations use their influence on media for the purpose of propaganda to gain global power! Like I said, if you thought Goldman Sachs was bad...
  • D6fer said on Jul 19, 2009....
uh....Goldman Sachs is doing just that....did you read the whole article? There isn't a single corporation out there that is bigger or has more influence than Goldman Sachs.
  • javadewd said on Jul 19, 2009....
But to what end are they dictating public policy through mass media is the question...
  • secretlife said on Jul 22, 2009....
hey - just so you know i did read the whole rolling stone article and have been talking about it to everyone i knew ever since.

i really did know about goldman/sachs......i mean how many of the people in leadership roles have something to do with g/s?  it's too much of a coincidence-  in politics i don't believe in coincidence.

i think people might be aware d6, but i think nobody knows what they can do.  what is there to do?  they're always 10 steps ahead of everyone else, manipulating everything-  they know the in's and outs, and put their people in key spots .......what can the regular folk do d6?
  • D6fer said on Jul 22, 2009....
For one we can contact our representatives and put some heat on them.....we stopped the last amnesty attempt that way, as well as the Dubai ports deal.

People need to forget about linear politics for awhile and look at each issue simply  from a right and wrong perspective......what is fair and equitable.
  • javadewd said on Jul 22, 2009....
I hate to once again agree with SeanRenaud, but there are an easy handful of issues that conservatives can easily solidify before trying to tackle the others. Where I differ is that those others need to be tackled either as part of the bigger push or in some immediate fashion. To have open issues dangling is just easy pickings for the marginalizing left.
  • ALIENated said on Jul 22, 2009....

... and look at each issue simply from a right and wrong perspective

That would be fantastic and totally unrealistic for politicians. It is all about retaining their power, not about doing right and wrong. Most representatives and senators are simply trying to impress the people back home in hopes of being re-elected and thereby retaining their power.

The only way you can lead a politician to water is with cash and by stroking their ego.
