Replacement HP Pavilion DV9000 keyboard can extend the life of your laptop for two years. before disassembly, Place the laptop on a well lit flat surface. Remove laptop battery and disconnect power cord from laptop. Ground yourself to remove all static from your body. Remove the two memory cover screws then remove the cover.Remove the two screws on each side of the EZ-dock2 expansion port. These two screws are located in the square looking slots.Remove the two screws on the rear side, located on the hinge for the LCD screen.
Turn the laptop right side up and fully open the laptop so that the laptop LCD panel is laying horizontally flat. Then use a flat screwdriver and carefully pry open and remove the upper cover. The cover is held by some plastic snaps. I had success starting at the hinges. Remove the two screws that are located at the top of the HP Pavilion DV9000 keyboard. Gently lift the HP laptop keyboard at the top, then pull the bottom out by moving the HP Pavilion DV9000 keyboard away from you. Flip the laptop keyboard upside down to expose the bottom ribbon cables.
For the large ribbon cable, lift the black plastic clamp on the connector, then pull the ribbon out. For the smaller ribbon cable, use your fingernail or small screwdriver to pull the tabs forward (by a few millimeters) on each side of the connector, the pull the cable out. Reverse all the steps when putting the HP Pavilion DV9000 keyboard back together. Remember to use the same screws in all the same locations as not all screws are the same length or the same size.
