I knew this kid once.  A really gifted musician, super-talented.  Bordered on being a genius, you know?  Back in the day, he was a state ranked pianist and a nationally ranked violinist. Been playing since the age of 4.  A prodigy in every way.

He was also one of the more pessimistic people I knew.

He was convinced that there was a cloud that hung over his house.  Even if it was sunny elsewhere.

It's cloudy out today.  The sky seems cold and indifferent.

Perhaps it's the unseasonably cool weather but I can't help but feel a little nostalgic today.  The way the clouds hang so low, it looks almost like winter.

Winter in July...  Isn't that the darndest thing?  It's like I'm in South America or something.

    Cold and cloudy? I wish...

It's been ridiculously hot here and I would love it to be cooler.

Do you know the Cloud Appreciation Society ? They have some rather wonderful photos.

It's 70 degrees and cloudy out right now.

I'm not complaining by any means.  It's a wonderful change of pace from a week ago.  Quite refreshing, in fact.  It's not the temperature, but the way it looks out today.  Almost wintry.  :)

Thanks for the link.  I know a certain someone who loves clouds as well and she'll love the link.

And there you have it.  :)

Perhaps I should submit a few photos that I took last week.  What do you think?

You know, sometimes there can be peace in those cloudy cool days though, lots of time for reflection for sure, as it seems.  Isn't it interesting how we find that people who should seem to have a happy existence are sometimes the most tortured?

Hege:  Everyone has problems big and small, I guess.  It takes all kinds, you know?  It was weird, really.  The sky was so gloomy out that day and my first thought was, "I wonder how C-----'s doing right now'.

He's married, has a kid and is the assistant to the concertmaster at a big city symphony, so he's doing alright for himself now.  I wonder if he's as pessimistic as he was before.  Wouldn't surprise me if he was.  :)
