She would most likely make a great first female president, but she comes with too much baggage. She too closely embodies good and positive principles and that drives demented Democrats crazy as we have already seen. The Democrats and the lapdog liberal media jumped on her like stink on you-know-what. Her stance against murdering babies before they are born is enough to cause Democrats to see bright red. They want their candidates to be as demented and perverted as they are. So I would say she does not have a chance and the Republican party would be insane to run her unless we get to the point, by 2012, that I pray we get to -- that Republicans could run a monkey against Borax and they would win. But even then, I would not take a chance on Palin.

  • secretlife said on Jul 04, 2009....
i think she just wants out of the public eye.
it's a cruel and thankless place to be, and i'll bet she's had enough.

as for 2012?  we'll all be broke by then, who knows who'll have a job?  i mean unemployment is at just about 10%-  (oh i guess that's still bush's fault?) and what is there to motivate/stimulate jobs growth?)  (hmmm maybe in  carbon gases?  which we all emit by BREATHING?)  and our government will be running everything-  probably telling us when we can see a doctor, which doctor (but it'll be 'affordable) what temperature we can put our thermastats on, and how much gas we can put in our cars each week-

maybe that's what we deserve after all-
  • Twylarants said on Jul 04, 2009....
Palin is honest, plain-spoken, and loves this republic and believes it should continue to thrive as a republic.  That doesn't suit the agenda of the political elite in Washington and they're frightened of her ability to reach the common people, who are us, btw.
She's also naive and unprepared for the role of president, but that doesn't she never learn.  Unfortunately, she'll never have the support of her party who consider her to be erratic and uncontrollable.

  • kevinunknown said on Jul 04, 2009....

HAHA, yeah funny one, Sarah Palin for president....... oh sorry your being serious. Do we have to remind you that this is the same woman who forgot what the vice president done during the last election campaign; if she’s the best the republicans can come up with they have no chance of winning the next election.

  • SeanRenaud said on Jul 04, 2009....

I don't care to hazard a guess on this move.  It is far to random and out of charachter.  She would make a horrible president that much is clear.  Her stance on nearly every social issue from abortion, to sex ed to scientific issues like evolution and stem cell research is so draconian that she may as well ask that we teach the world is flat and flies are spontaneously generated by rotting meat.

That said I have NO idea what is going through her head.  I mean considering that there were already people hinting that she was a woman ruled by her whims the last thing she needs to do for a 2012 election is prove them right.  Can you imagine the press on this if she runs?  Do you want a president who might just, you know quit on you halfway through?  It's insanity.  Though I have few doubts about her abilitity to whip up her supporters.  Look at ALIEN who swears she's got a direct line to Jesus.  She could easily rock the boat if she so chooses however I doubt that's her plan.

My best guess is that she knows the following two facts.  Nobody currently in the Republican PArty can hope to defeat her in the Primaries.  She is the Republican Candidate for 2012.  She has no chance in hell against Obama assuming he doesn't commit a blunder of historic proportions.  This can't be a matter of opinion screw up say the handling of Katrina which I will forever say Bush handled beautifuly (aside from lying about the levies) but he did everything else exactly right.  It can't be a matter of circumstance screw up.  Like so many Republicans are saying that the reason why Iran is screwing around and N. Korea is screwing around is because they know we have a weak president.  So that must be why they FLEW GODDAMN PLANES INTO US IN WHAT WAS AND IS THE ONLY ATTACK ON US SOIL FROM FOREIGNERS SINCE MOTHERFUCKING PEARL HARBOR!!!!!  But I prefer to stay within the realms of sanity and logic.  These things are what logical people call coincidences.  It just happened it has nothing to do with anything.  It has to be a Jimmy Carter level fuck up of the economy (which actually had less to do with Jimmy and more to do with wrong place wrong time if you look at the facts.)  To get him dethroned.  Presidents get two terms.

this means either she doesn't want to be John Kerry (a.k.a.) sacrificial lamb.  Granted a lamb who got far closer to the goal than was probably intended.  And she'd prefer to run in an actual election in 2016 (in which case she woudl have been wiser to change parties from Republican to Libertarian or something else that shares the majority of GOOD Republican ideals but was unelectable.  So that leaves the idea that she's tired of being torn to bits.  I don't actually blame her.

The curious part if the timing.  She basically killed the story.  On a Friday, while Micheal Jackson is Dead, during the Fourth of July Weekend?  Shit she might as well have not bothered to hold a press conference and just sign the state over and vanish into the wilderness.  There is something else here.

Expect a shift from her.  Not a Presidential shift I think she knwos she's kryptonite, she's stupid but not retarded.  There is something else brewing in that mind and wait for it, it'll be fun.

  • GrapeKoolaid said on Jul 04, 2009....
How is quitting your first term as governor supposed to help in a presidential bid?  Even if she was to spend a lot of time in the lower 48 getting a lot of public exposure it won't mitigate the damages of her being a quitter.  GOP wantsand needs leaders, not quitters.

If you watch her speech on video, she almost looks panic stricken.

I wouldn't be surprised if she's about to catch a federal case.

That certainly would explain her abrupt departure.
  • beyondtheveil said on Jul 04, 2009....

    btv:  lol.

She does have a few skeletons in the closet (concerning the construction her swanky house by the lake to name one) and I'm guessing that she's resigning in order to dodge an indictment, or is scared the sword of Damocles is about to drop.  Her interview had all the symptoms.
  • D6fer said on Jul 04, 2009....
Is there a Senate seat coming up for bid in 2010? I would like to see her get some more experience before wasting a shot on the Presidential bid....that doesn't seem to be one you can try again later and succeed anyway.

Sean.....Obamas entire Presidency has already been a huge blunder......and he's like Jimmy Carter on steroids!......The economy is not about to recover....I don't care what any expert says.....not only is unemployment rising, but employee hours are being cut!.....those are leading economic indicators....not trailing.

I would agree that it is curious as to why she chose to do this at this time.....I'm not sure I understand the whole "lame duck avoidance" thing.......I just hope the Republicans can unite under any form whatsoever and put the brakes on this runnaway freight train of liberal tyranny!

  • SeanRenaud said on Jul 04, 2009....

Unemployment is the LAST thing to be effected by the economy.  Anybody with even a lick of common sense could tell you that D6.  It's not complicated in the least.  You don't fire your workers (or cut hours) the first time you fail to make quota.  And you don't hire new guys the first time you get swamped.  It's like you live in this alternate universe where none of the basic rules apply.

I swear this is just as frustrating as blaming Bush for everything.  Cept it's worse because the people doing it now have NO foundation to stand on, they are simply doing it out of spite.  They love to sit around and scream about how Dems and Libs were all behind Bush in 01 and 02 and it wasn't until blah blah that they turned on him but they aren't giving the same benefit of the doubt now that the the shoes on the other foot.  Instead they started whining sixth months in advance.

  • kevinunknown said on Jul 04, 2009....

D6- “The economy is not about to recover....I don't care what any expert says.....”. You don’t care what experts say, thanks you have just cleared up why i find most of you blogs so contradictory, one sided and/or utterly confusing.

I always get the impression form you and form others on SC that if Obama was to bring about world peace and save us all you would still criticise, him why can’t you just accept that he’s doing a better job than bush has done? He’s not perfect no one is but hey he’s doing ok!

  • ALIENated said on Jul 04, 2009....

How is Borax doing a better job? By running all over the world and proclaiming that America is a piece of shit? By making moves in his first six months to nationalize financial instutions, General Motors, healthcare, yadda, yadda, yadda. Be honest. If a Republican was doing what OhBummer is doing liberals, Democrats, and the lapdog media would be going ape shit. What is frustrating is people standing behind all his crap as if it is normal. The things George Dubya did were meant to help America, not help Democrats take more and more control of our government and our lives. Democrats need to join Republicans and get rid of the new socialists who have highjacked our country and the liberal media they rode in on. If I had to guess, I would say that the gangsters that now run the country have dug up something on Palin that she cannot ignore in order to head off her challenging the messiah in 2012. I suppose this is the same mentality that can not accept that Michael Jackson was molesting children. Anything goes when you are a black rock star.

  • kevinunknown said on Jul 05, 2009....

Unicorn- its a fair comparison Obama and Bush both had to deal with the economic crisis both had to deal with the same foreign policy issues its just that they went about it in different ways.

ALIEN- am not even going to go over with you again on yet another blog why some large business had to be nationalised for the good of the economy and why I think socialism is better than capitalism. But for you to say “Michael Jackson was molesting children” is untrue he was found innocent by a jury of his peers and that remark has no relevance to this blog.

Grape-Rhetorical nonsense that chances are you cannot back up without taking words out of context.

I've asked numerous times why do people hate Sarah Palin?  Simple because she is a Republican, that's it.  A difference in ideological opinions and her and her family have been run throught he scumhole that is the liberal media.  Isn't Sarah Palin what we want our daugthers to turn out like?  Doesn't she serve a good roll model?  And look what we have done.

  • D6fer said on Jul 05, 2009....
Liberals hate Palin because she is everything they want in a candidate for themselves, but is conservative......she has the star power that so few politicians possess.....and that scares the crap out of them.....the number of responses seen here is proof of that....every chance anyone with a liberal leaning can get to bash Palin, they take it.....look at all of the post-election posts on Palin.....it's obvious.
  • ALIENated said on Jul 05, 2009....

...what’s your point, what does Michael Jackson have to do with Palin resigning?

Go back and read my comment. I was comparing people who believe Borax is doing a good job to people who believe Michael Jackson was not a child molester. Too many people testified under oath that they saw him doing inappropriate things. The jury evidently slept through that testimony or were paid off.

  • curmudgeon said on Jul 06, 2009....
It's too early to predict a 2012 run. Considering the amount of vicious personal flack she's taken, I'm guessing that she'll do some speaking engagements, maybe write a book, and cash in while her name can still make headlines. Serving out her last year or so as governor of Alaska assures a fade into obscurity.

I just can't imagine why she would put her family through more liberal media hell for an office that Obama is running into the ground. Under Obama, the office of President of the United States will mean far less than it used to, because the United States will become little more than another of those silly Western European nations - double digit unemployment, stratified economic class separation based on race, a weakend military and a paralytic foreign policy.

But hey, at least we'll have this nifty neato health care system where you have to wait six months to get a referral (not treatment, mind you) for a broken ankle or the flu!
  • GrapeKoolaid said on Jul 06, 2009....
kevin:  ty, ty.  [takes a bow]

smb:  I like how you put the disclaimer "chances are" in there.  Cuz there's a small possibility that I may actually know what I'm talking about.  Thanks for giving me at least a shred of doubt.  This idea that Palin can be a viable candidate for any public office, no matter what party, is a silly idea, is what I'm saying.  It's crazy for anyone to think that this woman needs to be in public office.

Liberals tend to dislike Sarah Palin because she's backwards, provincial with a limited world view.  Basically, urban hipsters hate her because she's a hick.  She clawed her way into becoming the mayor of Wasila.  Not even Anchorage, Wasila.  She then becomes the governor of a state, just another beauty pageant, then got thrust on the big stage of national politics before she was ready.  Plus, under the national spotlight, some of the things she did as mayor don't look so great all of a sudden.

I feel bad for her, actually.  I think she would have made a perfectly competent mayor or governor.  She might have done alright if the national focus wasn't put on her.  Perhaps the scrutiny just became too much, who knows?

Until she becomes a footnote, like I said.  I do get the feeling she'll be kicking and screaming all the way into obsolescence via book deals and tv appearances, so we're not done with this harpy yet.
  • andora said on Jul 06, 2009....
    she is running scared

I knew it when she rambled on and on at her press releas like she actually had something worthwhile to say

now it appears the governor is under the purview of a federal investigation, which would explain why she wanted this to be released in a media black hole weekend. But, she can never just make a statement, she has to try to act slick and somehow give out endless victim statements while posturing as a powerful person - today's media is not kind to hypocrites like her and Sanford. This does not mean they are liberal, it simply means that the K street crowd are getting exposed for the un-patriotic scum they are as their deep-pocket puppet masters look fruitlessly for another poster-child to furl upon the easily hypnotized hillbilly class.

She is only powerful bc she has deep pocket oil money behind her and she tells a bunch of hillbillies what they want to hear! I guess the un-educated corporate schills will have to find another know-nothing poster-child for their skewed view of reality. Sucks to be the GOP and I am eating up every little moment that they continue to show their true colors. yehaw!

It will be fun to see what the feds have on her, I bet it wasn't hard to find impropriety in her administration. so no, for all of you who are speculating about her plans for the future....most probably only involves staying out of prison!

    a real bridge to nowhere
  • ALIENated said on Jul 06, 2009....

By the feds, we mean the Borax OhBummer administration. As I said, it would not surprise me if they have something pretty bad on her and are getting rid of her now instead of having to deal with her later. (Remember we now have a Chicago-style gangster administration running the country, so anything is possible.) However, if so, they are actually doing the Republicans a favor. She would lose and she does not need to be around, bogging down the process. If she does become the Republican choice, I will not waste my time going to vote, and I would imagine a lot of other Republicans will feel the same way.

  • stopmediabias said on Jul 07, 2009....

I just find it amazing that if you list the Liberal complaints about Palin, similar to Grape's comment, backwards, provinincial, not ready for public office, this fits Barack Obama to a tee.  Put Palin's political accomplishments up against President Obama's and sorry Palin has a lot less embarrassments and a lot more experience, (and hello Palin was running for VP.)

Grape-Sorry I can take your entire comment and replace it with: "Can't come up with logical reason why I hate her and am just terrified to the fact she is Republican and a lot of people like her."  Sarah Palin a hick? LOL.

  • kevinunknown said on Jul 07, 2009....

SMB- are you being serious because it seems to me that your trying to say that pailn somehow has accomplished more politically  than President Obama and has less embarrassing moments than Obama. Are you living in some sort of parallel universe? When she was running for VC she couldn’t even give an answerer as to what the VC dose! She thinks the earth is 6000 years old I mean really not even Bush was that bad. you also say that Palin has “lot more experience, (and hello Palin was running for VP.)” did no one tell you that Obama was running for President and won so maybe he has more experience. Why can’t you just sometimes please admit that you’re wrong or even that there is a republican who would make an awful president?

Alien- the Obama administration has no need to dig up any dirty on palin she dose enough of that herself and the feds have siad that they're not going to investigate her. But at least you admit that she wouldn’t be a good choice for president so credit where credit is due to you on that one.

  • ALIENated said on Jul 07, 2009....

Palin has fallen prey to character assassin creep. Even liberals like Chevy Chase can have this problem. Once the character assassination starts, it takes on a life of its own. At some point, the person becomes a caricature. People start believing that person in question IS the caricature. When the person is mentioned, all the things that make up the caricature immediately jump into our minds, whether or not they are true. Comedians use this technique all the time. All a cartoonist has to do is draw a thin blackish man with big ears and we immediately know who it is. There was a time that virtually no comedian immitated John Wayne's voice. Then Rich Little did an impression of him, and overnight everyone was impersonating John Wayne, but actually they were impersonating Rich Little's caricature of John Wayne. Sarah has already fallen to this liberal ploy and I doubt that there is any turning back. Every time I see Sarah Palin, I have to wonder is it real or is it Saturday Night Live. Sometimes there is just too much water under the bridge. Sarah needs to figure out a better way to help her party than causing it to lose in 2012.

  • kevinunknown said on Jul 07, 2009....

Alien that was quick lol. I do agree with you to some extent she is definitely a caricature now it all started for me I think when she was recorded on the phone with who she thought was the French president and it turned out to be a comedian. But it’s a trick tried on all sides not just by liberals.

  • eurekame said on Jul 07, 2009....
I'd vote for her! I like her, and what she stands for.
  • GrapeKoolaid said on Jul 07, 2009....
smb:  [sigh]  Fine.  I was hoping you'd be sharp enough to figure things out on your own but since you insist on having the obvious pointed out to you, I'll continue.  Maybe if I rub your nose in it, you'll finally realize it's s**t and you shouldn't do it in the house.

Now let's just examine what I said a little closely then, shall we?

1).  Doesn't believe in giving teenagers information about sex.  In 2006, she stated, "Explicit sex-ed programs will not find my support" in a questionnaire by the conservative group Eagle Forum.  What she does support is saving yourself for marriage and keeping a penny in between your knees.

2).  Believes that the US military is on a mission from God.  In a speech she gave iin June of 08 at the Wasila Assembly of God, her former church, she stated, ""Our national leaders are sending them out on a task that is from God," and "That's what we have to make sure that we're praying for, that there is a plan and that plan is God's plan."

3).  believes in punishing rape victims.  She believes that rape victims should be forced to have the child of their rapist.  She said on Huffington Post that she would "oppose abortion even if her own daughter was raped."  Her daughter was 14 at the time.

4).  believes that the earth is 6000 years old and that creationism should be taught in schools.  In the 2006 gubernatorial race, she said of creationism in schools, "Teach both. You know, don’t be afraid of education. Healthy debate is so important, and it’s so valuable in our schools. I am a proponent of teaching both." (Quick side note:  It's funny that she thinks a healthy dialogue is great in this instance and yet so hostile and afraid of sex ed)  There are plenty of other examples of this lady's lunacy, but I'll leave it at this for now.

And yes, she's a hick.  Hence "Caribou Barbie".  What, you think just because she's pretty people will forget?  You can take the girl out of her dreary white trash roots, but you can't take the dreary white trash roots out of the girl.

Obama may be inexperienced.  If you ask me, he doesn't hold true to liberal principles either, and he's just as war hungry and bloodthirsty as the last guys, so he's not getting a passing grade from me either, but Chicago is far from provincial or backwards.  Though he was a freshman senator, the democratic machine politics in Chicago groomed him well for the position.

Also, I'd like to point out that I don't hate Sarah Palin.  I think she's a ridiculous person and shouldn't aspire for public office, but I have nothing against her.  Like I said, I think she even would have made a decent enough mayor of some quaint, backwater town, where her "hockey mom" shtick would have gone over better.  The governor of Alaska should have been the pinnacle of her political career.  She didn't stand a chance on the national circuit.  McCain was out of his mind to choose her as the "fresh face" of the party.  She couldn't handle the spotlight and that much was obvious even to her handlers in the McCain campaign.

Now if we all stop talking about her, she'll just go away.
  • UnicornForm said on Jul 07, 2009....

ug this is retarded, so has obambo been faced with the decision of war?

  • D6fer said on Jul 07, 2009....
I think Palin is damaged goods now.....she will most likely join the ranks with Ross Perot as a "could have been"....but like Ross...she quit.....hard to comeback from that.
  • GrapeKoolaid said on Jul 07, 2009....
The problem with the Republican party is that it doesn't know what it stands for anymore.  It's no longer a small government party, it's not the deregulation party, not the party that ends the wars...  Now it's just a party that hates baby killers and f*gs.  What kind of a political base is that?

The unholy alliance with the Christian Coalition did much to betray the basic tenets of the conservative movement, see?  Social conservatism calls for greater federal control, which goes against what political conservatism stands for.

Democrats don't get a passing grade from me either.  Obama's continued support of suspension of habeas corpus goes directly against what the founding fathers had envisioned.  The bill of rights is quite clear on this.  Also to provide retroactive amnesty to torturers makes him complicit in the matter at best, international war criminal at worst.  His stance on gay marriage, drug policy, foreign policy, financial policy, it's all wrong.  This is change I can't believe in, because it's the same old sh*t.

The number of genuinely disenchanted will grow to another political movement.  The return of the Whigs maybe?  Political parties die out all the time.
  • ALIENated said on Jul 08, 2009....

All it will take is another 9/11 type event and everyone will be back onboard with the measures George Dubya put in place (waterboarding, airport security, border security, hunting down terrorists and throwing them in prison). Only this time OhBummer will use that power against U.S. citizens as well. That is the difference in Democrats and Republicans. Republicans want to limit the rights of terrorists while Democrats want to limit the rights of our citizens. Republicans do some bad things for the right reasons. Democrats try to do "good" things for the wrong reasons. Democrats want a nanny state and to do that they have to collect higher taxes, which the middle class ends up paying because the rich know how to shelter their money or move it offshore. Republicans are still the party of smaller government, lower taxes, and the moral high road. No one president will change that. George Dubya's main problem was compromising too much with Democrats to get their support for the war. He should never have been for the amnesty of illegal immigrants, but even that makes you wonder. Reagan declared amnesty in the 80s as I recall. Maybe it is just easier to wipe the slate clean and start over every once in a while. Instead of throwing people out of the country, you can then arrest them for tax evasion.

  • SeanRenaud said on Jul 08, 2009....

Yes, one ... questionable ... citizen -- Padilla, who was eventually proven guilty. We will see how many OhBummer throws in his detention camps (set up in the stimulus bill) before he is done, if he gets the chance. And I think he will. Anyone who thinks babies can be left to die simply because they made it through a botched abortion, is capable of anything. Bush cared for this country. At best, BHO cares for the Democrat party and more likely only for himself and his legacy, which is true of most Democrats. And BHO is the worst kind of Democrat -- an extreme leftist/marxist, which again makes him capable of anything. Palin may be a bit wacky about her love of this country and her belief in God and the Bible, but I would take that any day over BHO's lack of belief in anything and hatred for our system of government and way of life.

  • stopmediabias said on Jul 08, 2009....

Grape-You seemed to prove my point for me.  You have taken her statement way out of context then corrected it.

Doesn't believe in giving teenagers information about sex is far different from: Explicit sex-ed programs will not find my support.

Has Barack Obama ever had a position in which he had to run anything, especially a government?  What if Sarah Palin started her carreer in a terrorists home?  What if her preacher was racist?

And holy moly why do Liberals fear any kind of dialogue that even remotely points to a God?  When it comes to God you people need to grow up and get a life.

Explicit sex ed program is one where they explain the mechanics of sexual intercourse and the specifics of reproduction.  It's not like the kids will be watching hardcore porn in class or anything.  It's just that the kids will learn what a penis is, both in and out, and how it goes into a vagina, in and out.  The old in out.  :D

What she's saying is that she is in support of abstinence programs and not giving proper information about sexual intercourse, the risks and ramifications to young people.  I'm not twisting her words it's what she says.

I don't really care what Obama's qualifications are.  He's just as big of a phony as all his predecessors.  He's not changing anything, he's towing the line.  On government secrecy, foreign policy, drug policy, it's all business as usual.

Though I will say that a junior senator from Illinois is more qualified than the governor of Alaska.  Or most states, for that matter.  There.  I said. it.  Though I'm partial because I live in Chicago.  Chicago is a hub for the country.  Alaska is a backwater outpost, a kleptocratic oil state. (See Ted Stevens)

Besides, aren't you the one bringing up Rev. Wright?  Who needs to grow up and get a life when it comes to God?

It's time for political conservatives to distance themselves from the social conservatives.  Social conservatives are caustic to the political conservative ideals.  Sarah Palin is not the person to do this.  Nor is she someone that can effectively bridge the gap. (Though I think the gap should be widened) Simple as that.

Social conservatives are only caustic to god forsaken liberal Democrats. Much of what conservatism is about is living by Biblical principles and ethics, which should spill over into politics as well as every other aspect of life. The government should not tell us which church to go to or that we can go to no church at all, and it should never be able to separate us from God. Reference to the wrong Rev. Wright are references to his bigotry, not his religious beliefs, questionable as they may be. Democrats (or liberals for sure) most likely fear God or any concept of God because they cannot stand to think about being held accountable for their despicable stance on so many issues today. Just about everything the Democrats now stand for promotes death and perversion to some degree. And they seem to thrive on putting this country down one way or another. Republicans usually make mistakes in their efforts to do the right things. Democrats are usually just mistaken about the right things to do. They are so worried about appearing politically correct, they have a hard time keeping their lies straight.

Grape-You are blurring the issue.  Do you even know specifically what she believes?   If she were here defending herself would her opinions on sex fit into "Doesn't believe in giving teenagers information about sex." No sorry they wouldn't.

And I'm afraid you are slightly delusional on the experience aspect here.  A governor for two years (after mayor for two years) of an oil/energy state (when oil and energy are a massive issue) versus a senator for which most of his time was spent campaigning.  And Palin is far outside the sludge of Washington politics.  Palin would have been better to run against Barack Obama than McCain.

    Alien-Very well said.

smb:  If she were here?  She'd probably threaten to sue the interwebz.  Those tubez need to be brought to justice.  Those tubez need to pay!!!

Or maybe she'll tell us that she's not a quitter.  When it's rather clear that's what she did.  Maybe the mean old media just hounded her out.  If she can't take the heat, she should make herself useful and get out the kitchen.  Go check some coats in or something.  I'm sure there are plenty of coats in Alaska.

I already told you of my bias.  I live in Chicago.  What's your excuse for your infatuation with Caribou Barbie?  Is it just because she's a looker?  Only compared to some.

Even if the social conservatives and politial conservatives want to bridge the gap and revitalize the base, she's not the person to do it.  If she ever was, not anymore.

So why we still talking about this?
  • ALIENated said on Jul 09, 2009....

I agree with that. She was a flash in the pan, but ultimately a McCain mistake that helped him lose the presidency. However, I am not sure anyone else would have saved him. It was time for the usual party turnover. We have some problems neither party is going to solve, but people were tired of Republicans and were obviously willing to vote for a monkey as long as it was a Democrat.

They were discussing her motives on FOX News yesterday. One guy was running the numbers on what she is potentially going to make in the next couple of years from speaking engagements and book deals. Millions more than what she would make as governor. She is giving the speeches anyway. Now she can charge for them ($100K a speech I think they said.) She is just striking while the iron is hot. By 2012, we will all be saying "Sarah who? That governor that wrote that book? Whatever happened to her?" If not, Republicans deserve what they get ... again.

Other than the fact that Ron Paul could probably have one the election for John McCain (and been kept from doing any real damage) everything ALIEN said is spot on.  I"ve nothing to add.

A "monkey"???? How offensive. Haven't we moved beyond that?

I'm a New Yorker. Compared to my city, Chicago is nothing but a tiny, freezing ditchwater piece of crap that happens to have produced a decent pizza. If size matters, Mayor Mike is more qualified to run this country than some community organizer turned junior senator from the Windy City.

Jeez, you'd think the Governor of Arkansas (population two million, the equivalent of ONE bourogh of NYC) wasn't qualified to run the country...oh yeah, right, one did and all the world just loved him!

Obama went from running absolutely nothing - with no more foreign policy experience than Sarah Palin other than his heritage and his summer trip to Germany - to running the country and we're seeing the results: Higher unemployment, a looming tax increase which will lead to further economic stagnation, North Korea, Iran, and the terrorists based in Pakistan all thumbing their noses at us and lobbing missiles.

Damn - I'd take Palin's management experience as mayor and governor over some guy with nothing more than an expensive piece of paper with his name on it.

But the Palin point is moot, at least for now.

No, I just blogged about the environmental wackiness going on in Washington State.

I'm a New Yorker born and raised!
