America is one of the better countries out there, but it is merely a country. We sing songs about God blessing America, and one nation under God, but don't be fooled. America is just regular people. It is not ruled by God. It is just an ordinary country full of ordinary people. It is not infallible and it is not synonymous with God.

America, of course, has been guilty of some extremely despicable things. Slavery is the worst of them. The rest of the world was into slavery as well. Reminds me of the old saying that mothers tell their children. If your friends would jump off a roof, does that mean you should too?

America has sunk to the lowest levels of depravity, particularly in the way it treated an entire race of people. Unbelievable! Brutality, exploitation, emasculation, separating parents from children, not recognizing marriages, separating spouses, treating people like property, giving them no human rights at all, and doing this for a damn long time, both north and south of the Mason Dixon line.

We've also been shitty neighbors, which is why some of our 20th century presidents instituted what they called the good neighbor policy, because they knew damn well that America treated Central America like shit. We also treated Vietnam like shit. That's controversial but it shouldn't be. It's the simple truth.

I am very much opposed to jingoism. Patriotism is okay if, and only if, we recognize that God must over-rule Caesar. As Jesus wisely said, you can only serve one master, either God or Caesar, not both. America does quite a selling job trying to say that it is connected to God. No. You can only serve one master. America is just an ordinary country with both good and bad, like all the rest, better than most, but so far below God that it shouldn't even be in the same sentence.

We should always question every single thing our government does, because our government consists of rich greedy people looking out for themselves, not for the American people. It's human nature. You take care of number one, and number one is yourself. Human nature has not progressed to the point where you unselfishly act as a shepherd of God's flock on earth. Our Congressmen for the most part deserve to be hanged for treason because they serve special interests, and they serve themselves, and they do not serve the people who elected them.

There's no country I'd rather be in. All my connections are here. There's no country that is so much better than this one that it is worth moving. But all this rah rah jingo shit gets on my nerves. America is ordinary, period. After we die, hopefully we return to God, and then we see what good really is. America has a long way to go before it is worthy of heaven. And as far as I can see, it isn't pointed in that direction, and isn't making any headway worth mentioning. It seems to be pointed in the direction of enriching Monsanto and bankers. WTF.
