I'm reading my diary from 1973. I was out of my parents' house by then. My cousin Gary slept in my room for a few days for some reason. My parents did him that favor, I forgot why he needed it. Probably related to his job. While he was using my room, he snuck through my drawers and found some old letters from a female cousin, Jackie. Jackie's letters revealed things that she would not have wanted Gary to know. And I never threw those letters out. They were still in my old room.

Jackie's letters revealed that she and her little sisters weren't virgins. Asshole Gary started blabbing about that to my aunts. Cousin Lester confronted one of Jackie's little sisters demanding to know if she was a virgin. Unbelievable! There was a lot of trouble in Jackie's house. All because she wrote me honest letters and I liked her letters and never threw them away, and didn't keep them hidden well enough.

What do you have laying around the house that is incriminating to someone? Whose letters have you stuffed in a drawer, and what do they reveal?

I don't have anything. I've burned a few poems, etc. that I didn't want anyone to read.  They were filled with pain and I never wanted them read.  I've also deleted a few posts here.

That's too bad that your cousin was sh** stirrer.

my "letters" are all email on my computer.  I would guess that anything I know that might embarrass someone is on my harddrive

Lenny.....oh, i know i have a spy in my house.....
    Its ...MY DAUGHTER...lol.....

She has this uncanny ability to go through my drawers looking for something and always finding something else...
And this means that, mindlessly, in the past i forgot here and there to hide some....evidences....lol..

But I remember i was doing the same with my parents stuff....
Its a teen age thing. i believe..

So i tried to hid what i don't want her to read or see...

Privacy is something very precious....but its not that i have many places in which i can hide my things......maybe i should keep everything in the trunk of my car?

Aw I hate when that happens!! I always leave stuff lying around thats found later.. and then I hae to explain etc etc.. sucks! I never learn either! I'm such a hoarder.. and I forget about stuff I've hoarded too so no chance of cleaning up! Its all a big mess! lol..

Yep...I know what you mean.  But it's really the people with sticky fingers that get me pissed off.  The other stuff I can take with a grain of salt.

hmmm there isn't a single thing actually, not that I receive too many incriminating letters anyway.  I'm like Uni, its all on my lap top and my husband and others use that so nothing there in the first place.  Borring huh?

lenny, having grown up with 3 siblings, two of them boys with whom i had to share a room until we left home, i faced this problem early on.
very thoughtfully, our parents provisioned the boys' room with three study tables with lockers
this token of privacy became so habitual, we sometimes forgot to lock our sanctum sanctorums, but didn't touch each other's stuff anyway.

a lot of me is in my study room.
there are two desks there: one for me, and one that my older son and sophie often use when they visit.
then there are tall open shelves and closed archive bins.
half of my artifacts and archives are there, including diaries, pictures, love letters, dried flowers and cards, ready to yield all their secrets to anyone who can gain access.

the other half is in safe hands.
    'nuff said... :-)

Shoot, there's probably enough incriminating evidence sprinkled throughout all my crap, I could get quite a few people.  I am one to save letters as well, if they're worth it. I especially like the ones that don't amount to a hill of beans anymore, but did around the time they were actually written, and now are only fodder for giving people shit.
