  Wow your very narrow minded have Cleary have no understanding of Middle Eastern politics. The “Israeli Palestine” question is incredibly complicated to truly understand if one has to read up on hundreds of years worth of history (The Palestine-Israel Conflict: A Basic Introduction is a good book to start with). Personally I have sympathy with the Palestinians for years they have been subject to harsh treatment by the Israelis and now that they have their own small bit of land the Israelis block it off from outside help and build onto their tertiary in breach of their sovereignty, if that was me i would start to lob some missiles.

  With regard to the Cynthia McKinney case I support any one that tries to get humanitarian aid out to the Palestinians. If it was a republican who tried to get the aid out to them i get the feeling you might have a bit more sympathy. Also it’s worth pointing out that it was the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) that stopped her getting into the country by taking control of the boat she was on carrying humanitarian aid into Gaza, that is the true outrage not that she was a liberal democrat. SMB sometimes you have to get past your own political ideology in order recognise the good that some people trying to accomplish, regardless of their political ideology.

  First of all anyone who makes a statement like:

  is seriously ignorant in regards to the whole situation.  The Israelis gave up the Gaza strip and the Palestinians continue to wage war.  It is far more complicated because you have different factions of Palestinians but bottom line, every action taken by Israel is a result of some unprovoked action by the Palestinians.

  If you would like to get into whose right and whose wrong I would be willing to take on such a debate.  

  But the bottom line and the really harsh truth is this:

  Palestinians show legitimate calls for peace agreements Israelis always come to the table.

  Versus...

  If the Israelis gave into all the Arab demands, even the ridiculous ones, the Arabs would still attack Israel and still try to destroy them. 

  Check your history this is still Isaac versus Ishmael and it will never be resolved until the fanatics on the Arab side are gone.

  My ignorance, to this history. Well maybe you should check yours the Israelis never gave Gaza to the Palestinians because it was never there’s to give in the first place. In May 1948 Brittan granted Palestine independence, and with it the creation of an Arab state. However this state was under Egyptian occupation to defend Gaza form the Israelis then in 1967after the 6 day war Israeli occupied Gaza and build onto roughly 20% of their territory, it was not until 1994 with the Oslo Accords that Israel gave up their occupation of Gaza. This is a very short history with odd bits missed out but that’s the bare bones of it and I really don’t want to have to write a whole blog in the subject.

  Discussing Israeli Palestinian relations however it not the subject of this blog, the subject is about this woman trying to get humanitarian aid into Gaza which is desperately needed I think she should be released at once and allowed to carry on with her humanitarian mission.

  Also i would like to point out that saying “it will never be resolved until the fanatics on the Arab side are gone.” That strikes me as almost resist I sincerely hope you don’t man all Arabs.

  Recently the Israelis pulled out of and ceased occupation of the Gaza strip and the Palestinians under Hamas turned it into a war zone.

  The Palestinians need a Martin Luther King, they need a Ronald Reagan they need a brilliant and unafraid leader to speak their cause and reject these fanatics.  Jews and Arabs can live together is peace but when you mix Arab radicals in, there will never be a resolution.

  They may have pulled out but they have still got most of the country blocked off from outside aid. The point hear however is that it’s morally repulsive that Israel are refusing to allow this aid through. Do you have a problem with the Palestinians receiving humanitarian aid? Or is it just you would rather it wasn’t a democrat giving out the aid?

  Israel does not withhold all aid and the only reason for the blockade is to prevent weapons from getting in. 

  The humanitarian aid is a joke and waste of resources.  When is the world going to wake up and help the Palestinians become free from the terrorists who continue to hoodwink them into believing the whole rest of the world is filled with  evil infidels.  If Hamas was gone and someone with no political hangups represented the Palestinians according to the real world there isn't a country in the world that wouldn't support them.

  If it is just weapons they are stopping getting into Gaza then why did they not allow that aid into the country? Hamas were democratically elected the only reason for the civil unrest is because Palestine is split in two, Gaza and the West Bank. The West Bank is ruled by Fatah and Gaza by Hamas the two sides are both seeking over all control of Palestine this is what lead to the 2007 civil war.

  I know this sounds very arrogant but it’s difficult to have an academic debate with you over this considering you very apparent ignorance to the Palestine situation and Middle Eastern politics as a whole.

  No, you seemed to be missing the point.  It's not the aid, it's the weapons that matter.  This while missles are being lobbed into Israel.  There is no shortage of aid in Palestine, but it seems the corruption outweighs everything.

  One would think it would be more difficult to debate someone who is an expert.

  This comment is a projection of the fact you cannot convince me your side of the debate therefore I must be ignorant.  When the truth is your side of the debate is weak.

  You are a highlight of Liberal soundbites that are made by numerous Liberal websites who live in the delusional world their ideology is somehow mainstream. 

  I'm tired of the Palestinian/Israel question so I generalize.  The whole conflict is a land dispute.  That's it.  But when you mix different religions, centuries old traditions, extremists, biased medias on both sides, and war all around it gets a bit more complicated.

  Weapons are no longer an issue; the militants in Gaza have almost ran out of weapns anyway. The main weapon systems they were using to attack Israel was the Katyusha short rage missile (most analysts believe they have ran out of these) or the Qassam rocket that only has a range of 1.5 mile’s therefore it can only reach major Israeli towns and cities form inside Israel, considering no one can get in our out of Gaza this is no longer a major threat. Although I have to admit this is only possible because of the blockade. My problem is however that they are blocking everything getting in even humanitarian aid.

  I am not a liberal I consider myself to be an A-political modern socialist. The reason it is difficult to have an academic argument with you is because you appear to have no understanding of how all the different issues affecting the situation are interconnected and by your own admission have generalised the situation.

  This however doesn’t seem to mean much to you because no matter what I say you’re attitude will not change form the “I am right” mentality it is very frustrating. Also you are arguing who is right and who is wrong in the Israel Palestine conflict were as I am trying to stick to the original blog and argue that it is morally disgusting that Israel are blocking international humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.

  The Palestinians and all these nutcase extremists fought and fought for years to get Israel to pull out of Gaza.  Finally they do and Gaza breaks into a civil war-esque type mob conflict while continuing to attack and threaten Israel.  This is very clear who is right here because this is good versus evil.  The Palestinians have become puppets of evil and groups like Hamas are pulling the strings.

  Israel has blocked everything except basic essentials but what exactly to you propose they do?  Everytime they loosen, in comes another ship full of weapons and rockets then on again with rockets being tossed into Israel.

  This entire conflict will never cease until one of several things happen:

  1-Israel conquers the Palestinians and tells the surviving population either live with us in a free society or get the fuck out.

  2-The world powers conquer the entire area which includes a mass destruction of all holy places including the wall, the dome, the Al Aqsa Mosque, everything, just completely level it.  Then draw and brand new map that both sides can agree to play nicely in.

  3-The Muslim countries of the world unite and nuke Israel and wipe out every person who wears a yamica and doesn't own a Koran. 

  4-The Palestinians find a leader that speaks of legit lasting peace and rejects all violence past, present, and future.  A leader that calls for an end to this stupid hatred and will agree they can share everything they all hold sacred without trying to destroy each other. 

  Until is reaches this level of change we are always going to see this conflict.

  McKinney is a demogogue sticking her nose in where is doesn't belong unaware a large segment of the population in Gaza would kill her or take her hostage because she is an American.  People should not get away with this crap.  How many poor people in McKinney's district could use the aid she using as a political tool?

  I really don’t understand why you are bothering to argue with me anymore on a subject you clearly have no understanding of. Hamas are not the only group at work here. Now as for your 4 ideas on how this could be brought to an end: scenarios 1, 2 and 3 would all bring about world war 3 at best and nuclear annihilation of the earth at worst. Scenario 4 would be ideal but as things stand in the political climate of the Middle East it is incredibly unlikely that it will come about any time soon. With people with your attitude about it’s going to take much longer because the main problem here is understanding.

  This stupid notion of bi-partisanship is about as nonsensical as the people who preach it.  There are ideological lines drawn and you are either more on one side or more on the other side.  If you are more to the right your are a conservative, if you are more to left you are liberal, or progressive, A-political, ashamed independent, moderate Republican, etc etc..

  With issues like abortion and war there are clear sides who will never agree and anyone who says different is selling something.

    This stupid conflict has been going on for too long.  People like McKinney should be finding or helping to find #4.
