I need to vent a little about my bank. My husband opened a savings account for my granddaughter two years ago, so far he had saved $1,500  for her.

He recently decided to sign up for online banking to pay his bill. While checking his account online he noticed that the checking and savings was fine and all accounts was showing up except one grandchild savings. I told him that he should call the bank and inquire about it.

When he called the bank they told him that he was not the authorized owner of that account so they could give him no info on it. My husband was the one that opened the account for her and put money in this account for her every month so that was a shock.

He goes to the bank and he soon came back and said that he needed to take her to the bank with some identification. By this time I was really upset.

When he came back I found out that they had put her account under someone name Stella Shepherd, we don't know anyone by that name plus  the fact that my husband was the one that opened the account. They finally straightened the mess out but how do a bank make a serious mistake like that?

I should not be surprised because this is the same bank that lost $21,000  of ours some years ago, he deposited a check for 22,000, a week later he found out that they had put it down as 2,200 but luckily I still had the deposit slip, you can't imagine the mess that was to get straight.   I tried to get him to change banks then and he wouldn't do it so I didn't waste my breath arguing with him this time

Well I feel better just venting about them here.I recomend that you be sure to check your deposit slips and all transactions when dealing with the bank.

I would have had a couple of coronaries if those things had happened to me!  Geez.  I mean those were large sums of money as well, not something to play around with.  I hate how banks do that though, they'll make a legitimate mistake and try to back peddle out of it as hard as possible and take as little blame as possible and try to blame it on you the whole way, and if you make one tiny little accidental flub you're the end of the world to them, you get charged out the wazoo and then you might have a flag put on your account too!  Those sneaky, stinky banks.  Yet another thing that makes me want to hide all of my cash in the mattress.

So this was Bank of America? No doubt. They suck! I practically lost a paycheck because they "lost the deposit" and hammered me with so many overdraft fees (because there was only a few bucks before said deposit) that they wouldn't refund, I finally gave them the Mini-Me finger(1:06) and went to another bank. Sons a bitches!

Hege I would like to take every penny out, They mess over you every chance they get with no apologies.

Glad you were able to get the situation straightened out.

I'm with Bank of America, too. Once they tried to charge me a $10 service fee. When I confronted customer service, I was told it was because I had called the 1-800 automated number too many times during that month. I was stunned, as I had never spoken with an individual; I had merely checked my balance. Fortunately, I was credited the $10.

Do you think you may switch banks now? I've been feeling paranoid about Bank of America, considering the negative (economic) press.

Jade that is terrible, No I can't get my husband to move. Is it OK to call your husband an idiot?

Is it okay to call your husband an idiot? Sure, why not? I call mine an ass all the time. Once I pissed off a co-worker because I called him an asshole. She made sure to run and tell him about it, too. He responded, "She's telling the truth. I am an asshole."

Jade I think they deserve to be called names sometimes.

MsStar, I'm with you on that sentiment. I hope you haven't had further problems with the bank. I try to just put in enough money to cover the outgoing bills. FDIC or not, I'm still paranoid.

    Good night! :)

The Misses and I found out this week that over two years ago when she got a consolidation loan and paid off three credit cards that MBNA left her pay-off check sitting on somebody's desk and let the account go late. Since my wife didn't think that MBNA were a bunch of fore-flushing low-life bastards (she hadn't read the news at the time), she ignored the first few statements, but after three months was curious as to why they were still sending them (since her bank paid off the card and sent an accompanying letter to close the account). She found out that they nailed her with a finance charge and then late fees thereafter. Now after having these cock-suckers burn 30+ points off her credit score, she has to pay them another ~$150 to make the shit stop. What a bunch of fuck-tards!! And these anus roaches got a shit-pile of billions of dollars from the government, too. Sons of bitches!!
