spirit -- a supernatural, incorporeal being, esp. one inhabiting a place, object, etc., or having a particular character: evil spirits.
People who yell a lot at a ball game are said to have team spirit. We all have a spirit about us, something that sometimes makes us look possessed. Once Jesus started His ministry to others, He often cast spirits out of people. As I recall, He even cast out a spirit that caused a man not to be able to walk, which tells me evil spirits come in all shapes and sizes.
I think homosexuals have a spirit of homosexuality. Some more than others. Some are truly interested in the same sex and some are just interested in the lifestyle -- it is advantageous to be a homosexual. I would imagine the boy in the article was drawn into homosexuality while in reform school. He probably adopted a homosexual spirit in order to survive. Once free of reform school, he probably wanted to be free of that behavior as well.
If they were hurting the boy in some way, there should be legal action. However, I figure the main rub is that the church believes "a man should be with a woman and a woman should be with a man."
I find it funny that the book and movie "The Exorcist" was so popular in the 70s. People were evidently onboard with the whole being possessed by evil spirits deal. I think it may, at best, have the same effect as intense counciling. Or it is like going in front of a group and saying "I am not going to do that anymore". People that go to AA meetings are in essence exorcising their alcohol demons. But, of course, they are not stepping on the toes of homo activists who want to promote homosexuality, not try to repress it.
I also think it is funny that you "call upon the right to denounce these obvious loonatics." It seems you are admitting that the left is not qualified to judge anything that might remotely have something to do with the spiritual world. And you are probably correct. These people are trying to help someone out of a lifestyle with which they disagree. Do you think the people who support AA are also lunatics?
Actually ALIEN in a strange way you made a point. You went about it in a strange way but I can't debate that it doesn't matter where you find the strength to overcome a personal problem just that you find the strength to overcome it. I don't care one way or another if what a person does in their bedroom but your comparison to AA forces me to think.
However my point about calling on the Right to denouce these loonatics is the same as my next post that you already commented on. The right is the side you has to tame the insanities of their side just as it is up to the Left to tame the insanities of things like gun control. If it was left up to the Right everyboy would receieve a tank and a nuclear missle on his 18th birthday.
I consider myself to lean to the right, or at least right of those that now call themselves liberals, and I would not advocate anyone having a weapon if they do not want one (like myself). I think we have the right to arm ourselves if for no other reason than to protect our homes in these bad times. However, you can get yourself in a world of trouble if you shoot and kill someone and the circumstances are not just right. It is all about common sense, which seems to have vanished from the American psyche, or at least on the left. For example, the things Bill Maher thinks and says are so stupid it is incredible that he can draw a crowd of more than two people (his parents). He thinks everyone, including the Democrats, are moving to the right. I think he must be possessed or so liberal that even OhBummer looks conservative. Good god.
I thought I tied Maher to possession pretty well.
