hey there guys!

i got an e-mail from a fellow soulcaster the other day (sorry about the delay in responding!) and that reminded me i haven't been around here for a while.

so, the update:

1. still looking for a new job in the worst economy we've seen in 70 years. i'm in a much better place mentally than i was last time, and that's thanks to a few networking groups in which i've gotten involved. indeed, i'm giving some thought to starting my own very small one, in fact, for the place i live in.

2. tonight, the mrs and i will be babysitting our niece and nephew, who are 2 and 4 respectively. they're adorable kids and i'm really looking forward to spending some time with them. they're a blast--although a bit tiring, to be sure. we'll be hosting them through sunday. the reason we'll be seeing them tonight is because our eldest niece graduated middle school (yeah, thanks for keeping us in the loop cuz we would've liked to have been there for that!) and we're celebrating that event tonight. of course, the reason for the timing is because their mother is having outpatient surgery tomorrow morning--nothing serious, thankfully, but she could use a few days without the little ones to facilitate recuperating.

3. while in church sunday, the pastor asked the congregation to say a special prayer for the people of iran, whose obviously rigged election is causing terrible turmoil. i thought that was pretty surprising, but certainly welcome.

so what's going on with you?

Hey Ed, its always good to hear from you. I remember you writing about the process of finding a new job in today's world and I wish you the much luck in that matter.

I'm sure you and wifey will find the little ones pleasant and 'invigorating' and my best for mommy's recuperation. If you ever find the need to come back here on a more regular basis, rest assured you'll be welcome with open arms.

May you be happy and prosper.

Well, well, well.  The prodigal fish smacker has returned! LOL

What's going on with me?  You know me, always in love (or getting out of it, or getting into it, or trying to figure it out) and busy with life, work and kids.

Hello Ed. It's nice to see you here. I miss reading you and I'm sure others do too.

I'm writing a lot. Often into the wee hours of the night, trying to finish my father's biography.  I'm loving retirement and the freedom it gives me. I'm smiling each day through the summer weather and trying to forget the bitter winter.

I hope you stop in more often. It's sad how many people have left SC, or just drop in for a bit. Not the same and I miss the days when everyone was more active here.  Take care and I hope the perfect job finds you soon.

beyond, great to see you again! thanks for the well wishes. we're looking forward to seeing the kids, should be a lot of fun. i don't think it a good idea for me to spend the kind of time here i once did: that was, ultimately, unsustainable for me. but i do miss it sometimes. :>

u-i: i wouldn't say "returned", so much as "dropped by to visit"...so which is it right now, getting in it, out of it, or figuring it out? :>

woman: i miss being here, but like i said to beyond, i don't believe that's sustainable for me. not anymore, anyway. i remember you mentioning that biography a while back, i'm glad to hear it's progressing. :> thanks, i hope i can find even a not-so perfect job. :D

This are my latest blogs about someone I'm very interested in.  Should probably give you an idea of what's going on in my puny brain.

Hey there, silver printmaker. :) (You did a good job, too; all but one of the entries on the front page of my My Conversations tab had trout prints today!)

Best of luck with the ongoing job search. I'm glad you're in a better place about it.

That'll be fun with your niece and nephew (I giggled at the "tiring" part of that, since little one just turned 4 and linebacker is 2! I know that kind of tired! :-D). It's nice of you and the Mrs. to take them for a few days.

Life here is full of merry chaos, as usual. Mini-Ferny is four months old and still a delight (little one is making her laugh right now, so cute!). Our main bathroom is a wreck; I've got a sort of photo diary of the remodel on Facebook...it's a nightmare, but hopefully worth it in the end! (We're doing all the work.)

Good to see you and best of luck on the job front.  With your brains and talent, I'm sure you will settle where you belong before too long.

Good luck with job searching - I know it's pretty tough out there.  A friend of ours just got laid off from his trucking job where he had worked 16 years, and he hasn't been able to find any other trucking jobs.  So now he is working at a paint store - and far away from his home - and only part-time.

I'm still coming and going around here, and still trying to find something interesting to do. I did buy a photo scanner and scanned all my kids' childhood photos, put them on DVD's, and mailed them out.  But now that project is over and I have to find something else to do.

Nice seeing you here again, Silver.  Have a great summer!

Hi, ed.  It's nice to see you popping in again.  I really hope you find the perfect job really soon.

As for me, I have taken my loom knitting to another level and am selling my creations online in an Etsy store.

    Hello Ed,

Good to see you again.  Sorry to hear about your job situation but hang in there as things should be picking up soon (I hope).  I hope that you find a job that can fulfill your needs at least if you don't find the perfect one for you.  I guess you should be able to free-lance it for awhile.  Right now I'm working 2 jobs...1 full-time and 1 part-time but I'm pacing myself by working the same hours.
Meaning that I work 7 days no days off (since January).  My goal is to go on vacation and visit relatives in South America so hopefully soon as I get my papers in order I will get the ticket,  and I hope that I get my papers soon as I have a specific window to take my time off or I lose it.  I'm pretty sure I got plenty of time and I'm really looking forward to visiting my younger brother down there.
Other than that and taking care of the problems at work (and paying bills etc.) things are boringly normal for me.
