I am pretty visual..............i have to see to better learn, i like to see details, keeping in any of them to form the puzzle ,keeping in as much details as i can, people watching is a fun hobby for me.....
I am saying this because earlier i was picturing in front of me all of you fellow soulcaster typing at this very moment in front of your computer like me and i was wondering if the room or the location of your computer could mirror your personalities....some how....for a kind of feng-shui thing....

For example, my computer is in my bedroom, on top of a small computer desk that a friend of mine gave me when i sold my comp armoire, too big for this tiny apartment.
I have my living quartier here...books i am reading, pictures, drawings made by my daughter, bills to pay, (too many). My chair is a black wooden chair i painted when i was still living in my house in Italy. I brought it with me with the rest of our furniture.

I have a round table on my left . On top a medium size lamp that i bough at Target years ago to match the curtain and the bedset of my ex bedroom. It's blue (my favorite color) with a French country motif. My home phone and papers are close to the lamp.
On my rigth, my priceless printer on top of a file cabinet.
On the top shelf of the desk a stereo and cd holders.

I am living so many hours here lately......
So, where is your computer, dude?

    lol!
    dudess here-

i have a home office; i work from my home so it's a necessity.
In here i have a large desk with this laptop and a printer. My chair is the swivel cushion variety. I'm usually here with a phone attached to my head via a headset from 8-5 or 6.

To my left are two bookshelves - floor to ceiling.
Behind me is a 70 gallon aquarium on a wood stand.
To my right is a full wall where I hang some of the kids artwork.

There are two large windows, one to my immediate right where i can see my driveway and side yard.
And one to my left where i can see my back yard.
This time of year, as the mornings and evenings are cool, i open my windows and can hear the birds and sounds of the neighbors mowing their lawns, etc.

I have two trees next to the house and i have a bunch of windchimes in them...i love hearing them as i sit here.

    can you picture me?

Oh yes, Secretlife. i can picture you.....

your room is lovely.......homy and full of nice daily details....it reminds me a lot of the living room where i used to have my comp armoire, at the house i lived in before the divorce.
You make see the birds, hear the lawmovers, i can see the trees and i can hear the voices of the kids in the frontyard...

You made me cry....all of a sudden i had all my room back to me, i forgot how much i loved to sit there like you do now, in the mornings of early afternoons drinking coffee, watching the flowers i planted in the front of the house: roses, hibiscus, lilies, rosemary,, sage, lavender...
The squirrels running, the blujays flying....

Enjoy your room. Thanks for let me in....

I feel your pain, silver, same here....but yet you keep the details for you....:-) it's ok....

i might have taken that from the overall feeling you room gave me.....and BTW a desk is kind of supposed to be messy....:->

mine is in the living/dining area, much to my wife's distress (actually it's the laptop and I've got two chairs by the wall being used as shelfspace) the townhouse is small but quite practical, easy to clean and doesn't leave you feeling like a sardine. Sliding glass doors to the covered patio and small yard in the back with palm trees (the kind that grow bunched together) in the back. Although they would look better allowed to grow full length, they are too close to the covered patio (excellent shade though) and my main concern is Hurricane season. Their deep roots keeps them from uprooting but they'll whip against the roof of the covered patio so they're not allowed to get full length. Have a small room/den with a desktop p/c that needs rewiring and that's on the fix it next list. And we all use her daughter's p/c whenever a printing job needs to be done.
A p/c in the bedroom is something that my wife will shoot me if I put one in there.

I have an "office". It's a room that has become the storage area. I'm renovating the house and that will be the last room renovated. So by definition, it's over cluttered with construction equipment and materials. It has all the unwanted things that don't fit in the rest of the home in it. I spend as little time as possible in it.

The temporary workaround? My work laptop. So I'm generally on my couch with my computer on my lap looking after the kids or not paying attention to a tv show that my wife's watching and I don't care for (say.. Gilmore Girls )

I have a laptop which I keep on a corner desk in my dining room. I have books on writing scattered about, sheets I've printed out with writing markets, my printer, a desk lamp, and a little CD player. I have an assortement of pens to which I can never find when I want to make a note. :-)

I have an executive chair that is too big for the space it's in, but there you go. Directly behind me is the dining room table and behind that is my curio cabinet with my angel collection.

It's all a tight fit in a tiny room.

My view out the window to my right is cattle pasture.

CW, I feel your pain about the pens.....they are lke the amazing always disappearing socks when i do laundry........somebody will have to explain those two misteries to me...

Cattle pasture from your window? Looks nice....

Raft....Gilmore Girls....me and my daughter rarely miss an episode....i know, very girlish.....

Rolling....LOL...pc in the bedroom...yep, it's a killing mode i agree...i don't like the tv the bedroom...yet, i am alone now so i can put my pc wherever i like...one of the few advantages of living alone....:->a

gingersoul: I've had the "pleasure" of watching many shows (since my wife had it turned on). Ultimately don't identify with any of the characters (except maybe Luke), and after a few bait and switch games with the plot line just to keep characters pining away again, I stopped watching. I'll say the same thing I tell my wife: "You go ahead and enjoy your show, I'll just work on my computer". No fuss, no muss.
  • gingersoul said on Sep 16, 2006....
raft, no fuss, no muss has always been applied to my house....only exception when i wanted to check what the fuss was for him watching American Chopper...you know, that father-son duo who builds custom made bikes?

For heavens' sake, he thought i really liked it and it was the end of the mutual tv vision experiement....after few episode i was in front of the comp while he was watching the dudes by himself...

    Don't unite, what taste divide....:-)

My computer is in my livingroom, it's got to be there or my bedroom and if it was in my bedroom I'd never get any sleep because it would "call" to me all the time. :D

I have a small place with just the things I need, or feel I do. A TV with VCR (yes, I still use a VCR) and a DVD player, a couch and a love seat, my computer desk and chair and a table that almost never gets used to eat at and a book case. In my bedroom is just a dresser and a bed and I have my trusted coffee pot and a deep freeze. Other than a few lamps, that's about it. From my computer I can see my TV so I often have it on while I work at my computer - it gives me a nice background noise. I work on my computer, I'm a digital artist, and so most of the time I'm either doing art or I'm on the net - oh yes, and I exchange a lot of emails, mostly business related. I almost always have a large cup of coffee at my side and normally I have music playing. I made mp3s of all my CDs and records and most of my cassette tapes. Music has always been a very big part of my life - it's almost as if I have a sound track that I live by :D I guess that about sums up where I am when I'm here.
