Got to work this morning and the "cool" river whooshing by at daybreak wasn't so cool.  It smelled like dead fish, or garbage.  Or more like dead fish in the garbage!  It was too dark to see, but I wondered if I was witnessing a C.S.I. moment there for awhile.

Had a busy, fast day and came home.  As soon as I parked and got out, I could smell something good cooking, but shook my head nah...as it's rare lately that cooking smells come out of here with our schedules.  But hubby had cooked pork chops and fries and saved me a plate, so that was a pleasant surprise and it hit the spot, as I hadn't eaten a decent meal in a few days.  (Unless you count take out pizza and bread sticks)

I've been at loose ends lately, and kind of down.  Won't go into that, but I couldn't go to sleep last night and was trying to think of something I could buy for myself that would cheer me up.

I guess money can't buy happiness.....because I couldn't think of a thing.  Nothing that would really cheer me up, anyway.

I guess a home to come to that smells like pork chops instead of dead fish is good enough for now.

I'd be excited if I came home to a homecooked meal.  Mostly because I'm pretty much the only one who cooks for me lately.  Sounds like the hubs did good.

U-I:  Yea, he did.  And I thanked him with a big smile and a burp!

It's been so long since I came home to a cooked meal. Just the thought of it makes me smile. :)

Wow, sounds like a pretty good meal there!  Makin' me hungry.  Well hey if you can't think of a thing else you need to make you happy ... maybe you've got everything you need and it's just time to take another look around?

well let's see, do we count take out pizza and bread sticks as a good meal? first of all, did the pizza taste like cardboard with some red on it? did you enjoy every bite, even the crust? i think we need a little more info to answer that question.

superbozo:  Well, me too.  I wish there had been leftover chops for today!

Hegemone:  I'm looking around.  Too tired to shop, anyway!

lfbno7:  I barely remember the pizza.  I was tired and just scarfed it.

Queen:  Maybe so.  I hate getting up so early, and feeling so tired when I get home "early!"

UnicornForm:  I could sure use it!  My job basically "stinks" most of the time!

I'm with you on shopping making me feel better.  I do it all the time when I'm bored or depressed.   I feel better for the next few hours after shopping but then I think about it and end up cancelling the purse, blouse, makeup, whatever.

Zaraida:  Hey Z!  It seems like when I have a little money to spend on myself, I never know what I want.  The rest of the time, I keep thinking, "I need this or that."  Or, "I wish I had a...."  Funny, isn't it?  Well, I've always wanted a piano....ha!  (can't play, just wish I had one!)

UnicornForm:  Didn't mean to slight you with the "non-boldness!"  Just messed up there.

  • Zaraida said on Jun 23, 2009....
I used to play the piano when I was a kid, but now I can't remember how to play with my left hand (no problem playing with my right hand).  I keep trying to learn and buying different keyboards, but then end up giving them to my grandkids because I'm a lost cause.
  • wombat said on Jun 23, 2009....
Z:  Well, maybe you can play half a song, which is more than I can!  I bought one of those organ keyboards, and had fun with it, but am no better at it than I am with the harmonica.  I tell people I can play that, but it's only when I have the blues on and I am buzzed.  I just say, ....I didn't say I could play it well!
  • Zaraida said on Jun 24, 2009....
Geez, I tried the harmonica years ago also and I couldn't learn that.  I even tried playing a flute and returned it because I couldn't blow it hard enough.
  • wombat said on Jun 25, 2009....

Z:  I can't really play the harmonica--it just sounds good to me when I'm blowing along with the blues!  Hey, I tried playing the flute in grade school!  I practiced at home for awhile before classes began, and found out I was holding it the wrong way!  I never could get used to it holding it the right way!

    Well, I do everything backwards!!!!

  • Zaraida said on Jun 25, 2009....
That's pretty funny.  Boy, you and I have even musical problems in common.
  • wombat said on Jun 25, 2009....
Imagine how hard it would be for me if I got a piano!!!!!!!

(and I find it amusing how a post about smells turns into comments about backwards flutes, pianos and harmonicas.....gotta love this place!)

Yes, it's pretty entertaining sometimes.  But other times I get disillusioned by some people's very angry and nasty posts and stay off for a while.  Anyway, have a great weekend!
  • wombat said on Jun 26, 2009....
I try to skip over the angry, nasty ones if I can hold my tongue.  I just like having this element in my life to look forward to, even if sometimes I get in that mode to stay away for several days at a time myself.  It's like a telephone...I get irritated when it rings and I'm busy, but when I need or want it, I'm sure glad to have one!  Ha!  (I'm kidding.  Sort of.  I really enjoy having this website and don't tell the others, but I still like it better than any other!)

    Okay.  I won't tell a soul.  Ha!
