The page you were looking for no longer exists

SoulCast, MySpace, FaceBook, Twitter.......it's all the same isn't it?

I mean, isn't SoulCast really just a stripped down social networking site?

In Twitter you have "followers"

MySpace you have "friends"

I'm not sure about face book, but here at SoulCast we have "users"

But whatever you call them, it seems that the "game" is to collect them!

Everyone here wants to be read.....anyone who says otherwise is either a liar or has voices in their head that they talk to.

We are seeking validation for the way that we feel.

Problem here is that in order to get noticed here, you have to collect "users" .Whether you read another or not, you need them in order to get more users to find those among us who will give us that validation, or at least provide us with some conversation or debate.

One of my earliest posts was about blogger reciprocation......the whole "I'll add you if you add me" thing

Some people here seem to have mastered the art of collection, while others seem to be clinging to the idea that they are so bright and insightful, that they will build their readership by shear brilliance! (good luck!)

One of the original members of this site has a huge following.......only after SoulCast changed the way that it listed "popular members" did that person essentially leave......as did a few others that must have enjoyed the spotlight of having their name listed on the front page everyday.

I am no different that all of you in that respect.....I seek the same validation....conversation....arguments ;>......I may or may not read you, but could I use you for awhile? lol.......I am mining this place! The jewels that I am seeking are not just like minded individuals, but opposing view individuals that are not afraid to engage in vigorous debate....insults.....etc......and will still come back in the spirit of friendship to beat each other up again and again! lol

So here's the deal: If we are not already "using" each other....."use me" and I will "use you"......maybe in the process we can find those that we trully want to engage in "anonymous social networking"

SoulCast is organic in growth.....if we reciprocate the attention that we recieve, then it will grow.....otherwise it will.....well.....do basically what it has been doing for the last 12 to 18 months......whither.

i dont read you sometimes because you talk about politics and i dont like politics... i miss your posts when you dont talk about politics because youre a funny guy.

and yup i agree we all want validation. we want somenoe to read the voices in our head. god i wrote so many rant posts in this website...

but hey i'm human!!! and i want attention... nothing wrong with that..

D6..... i read you since your first day here, and you and i have engaged in healthy confrontations more than once.
You are a gentleman in the matter of blogging and conversations with people that differs from your point of views. This is why i still follow you and i don't comment anymore to others.

I am curious by nature. I go around and click on people's name and posts, specially the less read ones, the new ones, and if i like them i subscribe to them because i want them to feel validated.
If they are here means they have something to say and they would like to be heard.
    Same for me.
    Same for you.

We can only hope that those words of appreciation and validation might stimulate them to be more active in this site.

But, hey, are we human or are we dancers? ...;-p

It's funny this post should come at this time.  I am not in a good place right now but that is beside the point.  What you say about Users.  I received a PM from a dear friend of mine who is on here.  She mentioned that someone had subscribed to her whom she had no idea who it was.  They didn't have any posts and they have only subscribed to her.  There is no info on their profile either so I couldn't offer any insight.  It actually made me realise that I had not checked who subscribed to me at all this year.  Yes, that's right, not checked it at all this year!  It has never occurred to me to check it.  I click on My Convos first and read and often comment again.  I click on My Interests to ensure I don't miss any new Doms or subs.  I obviously click on My Users to read my faves.  I can't even remember the last time I checked the pop list!

What I did realise with a twist of my stomache today D6 was how important SC has become to me.  Yesterday (which was last night to most of you but it was all through the day for me!) I so wanted to read some PMs that I recieved late last night.  Far too late to read them then and reply properly.  I also get a sense of belonging when I am on SC.  Sad though that may sound, there are Doms and subs here that really understand me, sometimes better than I understand myself.  I know my lifestyle is very different to most here but the community and camaraderie here is second to none.   Yes - i've been to other sites, fetlife, collarme, Informed Consent, Live Journal, but none of them have the same interaction that I have had here.

Just because I have a different lifestyle, doesn't mean to say that I don't have opinons on politics, religeon, current affairs, wildlife, the environment (I'm passionately green!).  Gosh D6 - what would I do without SC?  As ALIENated's post was about earlier?  The thought of SC disappearing scares the shit out of me!!

Whoops!  Carried away there ha ha!  If i subscribe to someone and they don't subscribe to me, at first I did feel a little peaved like, why don't you want to check out my posts!  Now, it really doesn't bother me.  As I said earlier, i've forgotten to check lol!

queenie.....I'll try to do a few more non-political posts.....but golly they are so much fun! ;p

Ginger....you were one of my firsts here I do believe.....you paint a vivid story, and I can feel your cultural background when I read them....I like that.

pusscat.....well now you have a new reader.....no guarantee I'll be into all of that.....but maybe the extra boost will help you find someone who will be! ;)

Oh D6 - bless you!  I always enjoyed reading your posts and your comments and banter with ALIEN and SeanRenaud (!) and trav, and you're still wetting my appetite :-)

hello D6, your post is exactly what i need to hier, for me this place is a good oportunity to said things we never talk whith people we usually fine in our normal life, is an oportunity to live in your ourn island, and be conected with others to,  nobody has the interest to talk, abaut deep feelins, or social problems, so here is the place for that, and i am sorry theres not an spanish place like this, couse if ,my english is geting better, isent enought to write and make others understand me, plus, i dont understand sametimes very well what they said, but i am totaly agree that we all are looking for attention, the reason wy, maybe coul be another post, but the ways we find to guet that attention make people so active or not, i hope,  one day not to be so active but have a bit of feed back, from others,  here asweall, theres good writers, cualificated ones, and normal, which even i cant iclueed my self, to eny couse im not eny one of thouse, but  i m looking for attentions is true, and if i start to write little by little here,  you make me think wy? and that will be my next post if i can, if you see my first post, i do understan nobody can said very much abaut, which of course i will apreciate if you said samething, no cares what it is, the answear give the going on,  but btw,  this is all for me, and hope use you, to fine you use me, dident read eny abaut you, think, is the first time today, but i will , i wiil try to know who you are, see you asweall, if you want,  have and idea who i am, but dont give up to soon, have a good day..

Gee... I feel so... Used... Whoa... I'm being used!

IMHO, blogs were originally for an entertaining look upon one's life. One of the nice things about a blog (actually, a real life ancient weblog in the day) was to track random thoughts, feelings and accomplishments.

The wonderful thing about the evolution from the weblog to the "blog" was the ability to be the exact opposite of a media celebrity. In a blog you have simple anonymity, and should you have any self-respect for your personal sovereignty, you can provide this virtual self-image of yourself on a blogging site to the avail of your own ego and esteem.

I like the validation angle, but let's get serious, some people abuse it in the sense that they want to be popular "rock star" bloggers, and quite honestly, those that think they are so great aren't really worth a tinker's darn unless they're showing their tits and making sweet money at it...

bhalah....welcome to SoulCast!.......Are you from Mexico?.....I am sure that there area lot of people here who not only speak and can write in spanish, but that can help you improve upon your english as well.....I hope you find what you are looking for here......and now you will have a new user!

jd......I guess I've never been one to keep things to myself......being the youngest of 6 brothers maybe I crave the spotlight a little? hmmmmm......actually, I really don't care about that all that much....I find it embarrassing sometimes.....I just enjoy the time I spend here.....helps me wind down, relax.

    O

Statistically, however, SC is growing. Weird, huh? And why they replaced the old pop members with the new is beyond me. The new ones have fewer subscribers and, regardless of activity, the old blogs are still a good read. But why else would folks like silverwhisper, zayda, TNP and such have all virtually vanished into cameo appearances? They are unappreciated even in pop recognition (no $ ever paid of course)

And yeah, it becomes so chummy that it really is social networking without accountable details.

I have yet to figure out the new popularity ratings....there seems to be no rhyme or reason to them.....I have noticed though, that if I am too active in my own posts, I get kicked off the featured page.
  • mOOn_platOOn said on Jun 23, 2009....

Fascinating. That would explain why some of my most viewed and commented posts aren't on feature pages. Guess we have to gauge our responses if we want popularity!

i find it easier to be (a closer version of) myself when i'm not listed as a "popular member." that only happened to me once that I was. it's gratifying, yes, but what i like the best is the conversations, like this one for instance, that force me to think a little. (that and giving a bunch of unsolicited advice.)

I really like what you have to say about getting involved in good arguments with people who have opposing views and then returning in the spirit of friendship.

i think i talk to some people through soulcast that i'd rarely ever talk to otherwise in my daily life (either because they live somewhere else entirely, or because they're older or younger than I am, or because they're much more interesting than you'd ever be able to tell just by looking at them, or just because there's less pressure involved in these interactions). i like that i make unlikely connections here.

Misty.....I think the simplicity and anonymity of this site is what makes it so nice....I kind of like to not know what people look like at times.

I personally like to discuss a variation of matters.
I just look around and see who has interesting views, sometimes just arguing with them for the arguing part.

Also I am present to present a different view from the general public, which I believe I do have. Basically sharing info, ideas and the whole ball game.

Maybe I should come by more, we could love to hate each other, for the sake of debate. lol

    Going to workshop now, later.

I never like to see what authors look like. It effects my response to their ideas.

D6fer, concerning validation, I think you are right on. Otherwise, why not keep a diary? I'm willing to bet some of us come here in place of seeing a shrink; it's much cheaper.
  • D6fer said on Jul 31, 2009....
exactly! why would you keep a public diary?.....thanks for the point!
