i'm finding that i'm learning things about myself through the course of various conversations i've had here. i'm learning that it's possible to trust a stranger--to an extent. i'm learning that apparently, i write better than i gave myself credit for. and i'm learning that apparently, the extent to which people are willing to be a friend is limited almost exclusively by trust.

so what--if anything--have you learned about yourself?

I was going to just answer "yes", but I guess you also want an explanation.

I've learned that some of the things I think about are also worth writing about, and some of the things I write about are also interesting to others.

I've learned a lot about my own feelings on intimacy...confirming some feelings I already had, and learned a little on how to cope with some of those feelings.

I've learned that other people have some of the same problems or questions as me, are searching for some of the same clues, or even have some of the answers.

I'm learning to share my feelings more often.

Silver, you stole my idea..you thief!!! :->

I was reading a book last nigth and i thought that there were a lot of passeges that were visualizing and defining better my own thoughts.
And i thought that actually this is what is happening here at SC.
I didn't have any idea when i joned that i was going to have so many strangers giving me so much needed support and appreciating my writing as well.

I have learned that sometime i tend to forget that for some people i am not that too much peculiar person i tend to consider myself......

I learned that people with problems sometimes heavier than mine still find the time to read about mine and open up and share. And anybody's struggle can be everybody's struggle.

I've learned that it is fun to be a bitch. I like being aggressive when I debate on here and I won't back down. I have only exercised this technique a few times, but I am looking forward to more.

I have learned that people are interested in really whack stuff. My dream about Denise Richards is interesting, but my nightmare about MRIs is not.

I also learned that I hate bullshitters (I may have already known that), and that I am getting better at judging character. I've found that certain SC members who grate my nerves like the Magic Bullet are f.o.s., and I have known it from the beginning. Go me!

I still haven't learned how to get a lot of ad clicks, so I will keep experimenting with that.

    one more thing,

I have learned that I need to go to my basement and pull the power cord from the network router so I don't have to sit here for 11 hours to get 8 hours of work done.

Wow, scaly...SC is really a teacher of life! LOL
  • secretlife said on Sep 11, 2006....
scaly - lemme know if that works, will ya?

i'm not sure what i'm learning about me-
(i'm sure there's gotta be something!)

i am learning things about new people, though, which is always alot of fun.

gingersoul....it's the sharing of experiences of the people here that is the teacher of life ( < did I really write that?)

Secret....it only works until you plug it back in. which in my case was about an hour because I had to email some files to the office. Oh, and you learned that you are OK with where you're at, so you did learn something about yourself.

    silverwhisper,
    i completely agree with u.
besides, i have also learned HOW NOT TO IGNORE OTHERS FEELINGS.
one moment , analysed by others in millions of ways, does taught you some thing new everyday , some thing which is difficult to express in words but that definately remains within heart.

i feel u touch very sensitive topics.

kinky fellow: hey, thanks for dropping by! my interests are many and varied and since i blog about my interests, i'm bound to find something in common w/ just about everyone, i figure. :>

rollingc: it really isn't that hard, dude. pick a topic about which you feel strongly and let loose: that's all any of us do. :>

Like scalywag, I need to get my life back. I have never spent so much time reading and writing things that are not related to my goals in life. I realize more than ever how easily I get sidetracked by instant gratification.

I have learned that it is easier to express my thought and not feel ashamed.
  • hotaka said on Sep 13, 2006....
Giving this a little more thought I have concluded that I learned three important things from blogging.

    1) There are things I have learned or thought about that I have forgotten. Reading other people’s blogs helps me remember those things. I realize that I know a little about a lot of things, and even though I may not be able to hold a debate on most topics, I can contribute a little to some discussions. Also, writing blogs about what I have read helps me understand it better.

    2) Sometimes you have to give people a chance to express themselves more before you can form an opinion of them. If from the start you disagree with what someone says and think him or her an idiot, and tell them so, you are not giving that person a chance to get his or her idea across in the best way. Some people (me included) don’t have the mastery of language to express our ideas clearly enough, or we don’t take or have time enough, to accurately state our opinions from the onset. Also, there are often misunderstandings and strong opinions expressed as a result. Give people the benefit of the doubt and give them a chance to explain themselves before antagonizing them.

    3) Though there are disappointments in my life and I have made some wrong choices, there are others here who have greater problems. In one way it is encouraging to feel that my problems are not as bad, and that those people with bigger difficulties are dealing with them and coming through. It means that if someone can handle such a difficult situation and come out on top then my problems should be a lot easier to master.
