Pasen is an Italian manufacturer of PMPs that sometimes revel in re-branding remarkable Chinese products, like the ONDA VX989LE   , now called LAZYBUM. There are no a few changes from the old ONDA model besides the name: 2.8-inch Onda Touch Screen VX747  ; AVI, XviD, DivX, ASF, MP4, FLV, MP3, WMA, WAV support; miniSD; FM tuner. Update: Oops, looks like the addition of a 400 MHZ multimedia processor makes all the file support above native to the Onda VX989 , which means no more file conversion, hence “lazy bum.” Pasen also promises new features… perhaps after a firmware update?

When Chinese PMP maker ONDA VX898    is not imitating an Apple product, it can come up with very solid PMP designs. Take the VX989 mini-PMP. It looks like it’s encased in brushed stainless steel. A thing of simple beauty. The screen is a 2.8-inch QVGA (320 x 240) TFT LCD. Compatible files: MP3, WMA, WAV, APE, FLAC, MPEG-4 (AVI), Xvid (QVGA at 20fps), JPG, LRC and TXT. Includes two headphone jacks, FM tuner and microphone. It’s priced at only $99.
