Makes you wonder.  I have worked with people who obviously weren't wearing underwear, but I didn't have to observe privates or I'd have told them to go put more clothes on.  I'm not sure about the nothing but ears pierced thing.  I mean, that does seem a little conservative and unenforceable.
  • gingersoul said on Jun 18, 2009....
Yes, that piercing thing..i agree with you..

I too don't recall any situation in my past jobs that were THIS outrageous to require an ordinance.

There was this guy in Italy though who loved wearing very transparent t-shirts in summertime......he was doing a lot of work out....his nipples were always pointy, i have to say.....we girls all looked....lol..

Now at my office there is a girl who has the same 'features' plain in sight....no one complained either...
  • wombat said on Jun 18, 2009....
Well I'm all for those drooping pants with the boxers showing on guys and the thong strings showing on gals being over-the-top rediculous.

Same with no bra, when you clearly should be wearing one.

But basically, I do hate being told what to do, so there.

I don't recall seeing any men with "no underwear" though.  Not at work, anyway!
  • Lucytorial said on Jun 18, 2009....
Well who's to know if I am or not wearing underwear?
  • uniquely-ironic said on Jun 18, 2009....
Lu - some people won't wear it but then they'll wear clothes that exposes the fact
  • wombat said on Jun 18, 2009....

Case in point:  My female instructor wore a filmy long, clingy dress one day, and you could see that there were no panty lines.

Couldn't really see anything.....but could see what wasn't there.

    So, what's the harm?

  • gingersoul said on Jun 18, 2009....
Wombie.....geez, there are severe good taste disasters going on here too, believe me.

But, again, you can't prohibit people to make a clown of themselves if they want to..
Some really have a wooden mirror at home..

Lucy....the fact is soon or later no-underwear fans will do that move that will bust them...
OK, i wear thongs...nobody see my thongs, right?..
Well, at the company picnic two weeks ago we were having a pinata time...hit the pinata, candies fell on the ground, we went to pick up the candies....now the girl who was in charge of taking pics of the event got a pic of me bending over for grabbing the sweets....

Guess what was on the computer screen of all my co-workers the next day?
My pink and black ruffled thong line perfectly showing from my jeans...
Was my intentions to show it? No.
Should the girl have deleted that pic and NOT posted it with all the otehr ones?
    YES.

But this shows how easily you can get busted....and at least i WAS wearing my underwear.....lol....
  • gingersoul said on Jun 18, 2009....
    U-nee-k......yep..read my above comment. ..;-p

Wombie....don't you hate those panties lines though?...;-)
  • wombat said on Jun 18, 2009....
Only when they creep up my comfort zone......ginger.
  • Lucytorial said on Jun 18, 2009....

Good lord Ginger, is everyone so anal in Texas? far out... I have this beautiful sheer navy work shirt, it shows my bra underneath just a little bit... my bosses think its beautiful! no dramas there, no "you can't wear that" as long as its smart, looks good and I am well presented.  Obviously not slutty, I understand some do dress that way but sheesh!

I just can't get over the prudity of some Americans...

So you had a cute thong on, that girl is a bitch and should have been told so.  I would have actually had a go at her.

  • gingersoul said on Jun 18, 2009....
LOL....you said the right word......they do creep out in the most embarassing moments......that's why only thongs for me...;-P
  • wombat said on Jun 18, 2009....

Hey...I have some thongs too!  But I don't advertise them with low cut jeans.  (for butt crack reasons)

    That was my point.

    I actually like thongs!

was given a poppy show when in my younger days by a younger spicy one and i almost tore my retnia with the eye strain trying to lift my eyes to look at her face ,oh hell at least i tried lol.blue
  • Lucytorial said on Jun 18, 2009....
Blue you crack me up! tore your retina? LOL
  • gingersoul said on Jun 18, 2009....
Lucy...don't make me start with the Victorian mentality of these Yankees.....lol...

That, btw, is a double standard mentality in many cases.

Yes, i went to her and asked her:
"Did you screen those pics before posting them"
She said. "Actually, i was in a rush and i just uploaded them from the camera"
I told her "Way to go. Go back and see what i was wearing that day"
She apologized to me. I am hoping she didn't do it on purpose. But I don't have any reason to think in this way....

The fact is that the double standard walks on a thin line...
We had two meetings telling us what to wear and what not...for a corporate point of view i can understand though.....

In a less formal enviroment and business would be different....
    You have a reasonable boss.
  • gingersoul said on Jun 18, 2009....
    Wombie......lol......what not to like?

Blue......ouch.....that must have been painful....well, at least you tried.....LOL...
  • Lucytorial said on Jun 18, 2009....
I'm greatful I have reasonable bosses, both the women and the men, two of each.  But thats Queenslanders, we aren't really freaked out by that stuff.  I mean if I were to pair that with a mini skirt of course that lacks class and style, however I am not that kind of girl LOL
  • Battycat said on Jun 18, 2009....
ok not to wear underwear, as long as we don't have to look at whats not covered! I think the piercing is a bit OTT :-)
  • gingersoul said on Jun 18, 2009....
Lucy.....yes, everything has to be mixed up in tasteful way.....this is the main point.

    Batty.....keep the jewels refreshed but covered.....got it.......lol....
  • Hegemone said on Jun 18, 2009....
Wow, that makes me wonder what kind of people worked there in the first place if it became necessary to cite those rules!  Lol, I had to laugh when the one guy claimed it took away a person's freedom of choice about wearing underwear.
  • gingersoul said on Jun 19, 2009....
Heggie.... sorry for the long delay in answering ....SC was dead all day...

Yes, i had the same reaction at first.......wth, what a people!

  • Hegemone said on Jun 19, 2009....
Gingie - No worries, heh, I couldn't get on here either.  I'm still laughin' about that story though, man, I wonder how many people it actually applied to broke out laughing when they read that.
  • Voltaire said on Jun 20, 2009....
Depends on what work I am there to do, if it's boring work; heck no.
And yeah I bet some will wrongly interpret this message. ;-P
  • queenparanoia said on Jun 20, 2009....

  • gingersoul said on Jun 21, 2009....
Queenie.....i bet they find it offensive as well...i mean once you cross  a line...everything has to stay behind that line or is out...

Goose....you know......this is what would tick me off....lol.......yack@@@@@
  • Goose21 said on Jun 24, 2009....
should men wear vests incase their nipples can be seen through theri shirts ?
  • gingersoul said on Jun 24, 2009....
    Goose......no, please nooooo.......lol...
  • Voltaire said on Jun 24, 2009....
Well I can agree about the underwear thing, but deodorants?

I see it from a different perspective, we all have a natural smell, this smell is there for a purpose. It's purpose has, among other, to do with love, sex and the likes.

    http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/82728.php

So I personally rarely use deodorant but rather try to shower more often.
I would hate to miss a good person because of that I choose "the wrong" deodorant smell. ;-P

Regarding showing private parts, common sense is a valuable asset.
It can be, especially on a job VERY distracting if it's the right gender/sex.

  • gingersoul said on Jun 24, 2009....
Voltie....i agree with the deodorant thingie only in the meaning that, yes, natural smell is nice.......BUT...some people really abuse the concept and stretch it way too much.

Did you read The perfume of Suskind?.....great book... read the summary here.

Imagine having an exasperated olfattive system? Each slightly bad smell would be a torture.

I understand the idea of taking more shower and using less deodorant but i am against taking too many showers...you know.....i dont like waste water...:-)

  • Voltaire said on Jun 25, 2009....
    Ginger,
I understand what you are saying.

I never read the perfume no, I'm not much of a reader.
    Not literature wise at least.

  • gingersoul said on Jun 25, 2009....
But......they made also a movie from the book....:-)
  • Voltaire said on Jun 25, 2009....
Think I missed that one to, Ginger.
I read a bit about the book, and to be honest it did sound boring..
However it doesn't have to be.
