after fighting, pleading and complaining for weeks with several different washington mutual customer services representatives, managers, tellers and everyone else, i finally got them to credit me back for the second unauthorized charge. however, i had discovered that apparently the staff at washington mutual is incredibly incompetent. i had received an unauthorized claim affidavit form, filled it out and went to my local bank branch and asked them to fax it to the right division. after calling the debit card services division they told me several things: first, that when i called to inform washington mutual about the second disputed charge, no one at customer service bothered to inform the debit card services dvision that there was another disputed charge. and on top of that, the affidavit form that i had my branch send out went to the wrong division! debit card services hasn't seen it. the first time they had heard about the second unauthorized charge was when i called them and complained about things not being credited to me as they should.
now let's be honest here, it doens't take much effort to pass a message on, to make sure a paper gets to the right person or to double-check what you're doing. the fact is that they conduct business with people's money carelessly and thoughtlessly. and because of that, you shouldn't do business with anyone who's that careless when it comes to your money.
