I check my email today and notice I have a few from Ebay regarding my successful listing of a Chanel Handbag....15 times. Then some more concerning my misuse of a trademark and suspension from Ebay.
"GASP" I gasp. "Those silly phishers have gone too far!" I exclaimed with an air of sarcastic enthusiasm. I moused over the links within the email and noticed that they weren't of their usual suspicious calibur. They looked very real in fact. Real enough to prompt me to check my Ebay account.
I sign in and am instantly told that I have been suspended via a bright RED warning urging me to take action in dealing with my suspension. So I write an appeal:
At first I thought the couple emails I received from ebay were phishers attempting to scam me. But upon checking, I am indeed suspended from Ebay.
How did this happen? I'd love to know, as I'm sure I have not signed into Ebay in over two months. Nor do I know what a Chanel Bag looks like, let alone want to sell it.
Please get back to me. I feel my online activities may be insecure, and this event proves it.
But Wait! There's More!
One of my bank accounts, specifically the one linked to my Ebay account, has had a negative balance for some time. By checking my account history, I can see that the same day I received these emails ( Thursday the 7th of this month), my balance mysteriously returned to zero.
Now I am thinking to myself, what did I do online last night? I set up a quick test blogging community on gobble.com, I created a new email address on inbox.com, checked out a friend of mine's geocities site, and listened to music from di.fm, as well as check email.
When did I sign onto Ebay and list 15 purses for sale? Never!
As a final thought, I am currently in a dispute with a company and I've been dealing with them through the Better Business Beareu. Maybe they've launched a shmear campaign against me?
Off I go, changing my passwords to everything.
