Saturday night on Showtime, which I no longer get, a pretty good fight card. It went something like this.

You may remember Kevin Randleman and Mike Whitehead. Kevin Randleman is a black guy with a barrel chest, a good wrestler, former champion a lonnnnng time ago. He used to dye his hair blonde, maybe still does. I remember him dumping Fedor Emelianenko on his head and then getting arm barred by Fedor.

You may also remember Mike Whitehead. He's the chubby guy who was the favorite to win The Ultimate Fighter a few years back, and then he lost to Rashad Evans in what was then an upset because people on the show thought Whitehead was great and Rashad sucked. Whitehead was so ashamed for losing to a sucky nobody like Rashad Evans.

Turns out that Mike Whitehead is pretty good after all. He has a 24-6 record, and those 6 losses include two to Tiny Tim Sylvia, also to Brandon Vera, Keith Jardine, and Babalu. He squeaked out a 1 point decision over blondie.

Joe Diesel Riggs pitched a shutout over The New York Badass Phil Baroni. Baroni made a career out of a powerful punch and a cool nickname, but he's really not that great.

Nick Diaz is kind of a professional asshole. He fought Scott Smith, a banger. Diaz smacked away Smith's hand to start the final round, refusing to touch gloves with respect. Remember how Diaz says fuck you to his opponents? I don't know why the guy is such an asshole, but anyway he's a better fighter than Scott Smith and Diaz caught him with a rear naked choke in the third round. Diaz is a Gracie jiu jitsu star, Smith isn't, nuff said.

One of my pet peeves in MMA recently is the way Andrei Arlovski was ridiculously overrated. Most analysts rated him number 2 right behind Fedor the Great. Oh that is such bullshit. Arlovski lost 2 out of 3 to Tiny Tim Sylvia. Who exactly did Arlovski beat? A couple of IFL guys. So what. Rating him above Frank Mir and Brock Lesnar is a joke. Sometimes I wonder why these analysts get paid for their thoughts.

Arlovski didn't deserve to be rated above Couture or Minotauro either. Just who the hell is this guy with the vampire teeth? Then you have all the new young stud heavyweights like Shane Carwin, Bobby Lashley, Cain Velasquez. Tell me you would want your money on Mr. Vampire Teeth against these behemoths.

So they match Vampire Teeth against Brett Grim Rogers, a big strong black guy who can hit. I'm thinking mismatch, Rogers is going to beat the crap out of Vampire Teeth. It went 22 seconds. Rogers by KO.

Finally the Strikeforce title fight between champ Robbie Lawlor and jiu jitsu ace Jake Shields. Shields uses Gracie jiu jitsu to choke the guy out in the first round. Grappler beats striker, nothing new with that.
