Not all of the fights from Sacramento were shown on Versus, free television. The first fight on the card was squeezed in midway in the show on tape. It was Rolando Perez vs. Seth Dikun. They were both losers back in January on the same show, Dikun losing a decision to Charlie Valencia and Perez getting clobbered by the dangerous Jose Aldo.

Dikun sports a Jewish star tattoo on his arm. That's a good marketing tool for him. Everybody is looking for a way to be noticed. Anyway, he caught Perez in a triangle choke by jumping into the air and coming down in that triangle choke. It was a fancy move. But it apparently wasn't the most technically perfect triangle because it took Perez a very long time to tap out. Dikun needs to make his technique more precise, but maybe it was the fact that he jumped into it that made it a bit sloppy. When a real jiu jitsu star puts on a submission hold, the tap comes quickly. Dikun eventually won by tapout.

Antonio Banuelos and Scott Jorgensen are WEC regulars who lose against top competition but are good. Jorgensen is the guy with the skin condition that Michael Jackson has, white spots all over him. This fight was entertaining. When Banuelos was given a split decision I thought that Jorgensen was gypped, and so did the crowd.

Manny Gamburyan was a pretty big deal two years ago when he was on The Ultimate Fighter and finished second due to a shoulder injury. Since then he won twice in the UFC, then lost twice in the UFC. The UFC dumped him but just sent him to the WEC where they matched him against some kid who was undefeated against nobodies. Gamburyan won all three rounds but I don't know where his career is going.

Jens Pulver was matched against Josh Grispi, a young up and comer. I didn't know who to call the favorite because Pulver is way over the hill and just keeps losing these days, but he used to be a star, and he's been losing to good fighters. The fight was embarrassing. Pulver got caught in a choke almost immediately. Ring commentator Kenny Florian said that Pulver was in the process of escaping, but I said no he's not, and Pulver tapped out and was disgusted with himself. Then the crowd cheered him and he said how much he loves them all, and that maybe he quits, maybe he doesn't. It was kind of a shame because we didn't even get to see him fight. It was over so fast.

Donald Cowboy Cerrone fought a newcomer named Krause who had an undefeated record in small promotions. It was obvious that Cerrone was a clear favorite to win, and he did. He was beating the kid up with punches on the mat, and then the kid let himself get choked out, the end. It was the punches that did it. Sometimes people just let themselves be choked out when they get sick of getting beaten.

I don't know why the WEC matched Jose Aldo against Cub Swanson. It was one of those 100-1 mismatches. Cub Swanson was TKO'd not that long ago by Jens Pulver, who is over the hill. He didn't belong in the ring with Jose Aldo, the most explosive and dangerous featherweight in the world. I don't know why Swanson accepted the match. It only lasted a few seconds. Aldo threw flying knees at him right after the bell rang, and caught Swanson over the eye. It was really bad. Swanson went down as if he had been shot in the face at close range. They showed the cut, extremely deep and brutal above the eye. An 8 second KO.

After the fight they interviewed Aldo through an interpreter. The interviewer said to Aldo that both Urijah Faber and Mike Brown said Aldo is the most dangerous man in their division. Aldo said no I'm not that strong. What a weird thing to say. Either he was being modest (false modesty) or he was just unwilling to agree with anything that those two guys said about him, even compliments.

Then came the big rematch between WEC darling Urijah Faber and the guy who took his title away, Mike Brown. They have very different styles. Mike Brown reminds me of Chicago even though he isn't from there, just because he's a blue collar hard nosed kind of guy with nothing spectacular about him except for how tough he is. By contrast, Faber is fancy as can be, The California Kid, spinning around, throwing really high kicks that miss by a mile, breaking all the rules, ad libbing as he goes along, giving up his back all the time even though that is supposedly the one thing you should never do.

Faber gave up his back a bunch of times, and it didn't do him any harm. How the hell he manages to get away with that I don't know. Brown seemed to be winning the rounds by a small margin. Faber broke his hand so he kept hitting with his elbow instead. After 3 rounds it started getting boring and tiresome for me, and was actually the most boring fight on the entire show. Brown won the unanimous decision by 3 points.

I have to assume that Brown's next title defense will be against Jose Aldo, and I expect Aldo to knock him out. Then again, it's hard to knock out a guy made of granite. Aldo is much more interesting than Brown, so it would be good for the WEC if Aldo beats him. Since Brown was nowhere near dominating Urijah Faber with a broken hand, I don't think Brown is unbeatable. Aldo is a piece of work.
