The page you were looking for no longer exists

The uses of the Internet is constantly being pushed further and further.  When my family first got an internet connection with was with a 28kbps modem.  The web pages were very basic with very few graphic and it was quite difficult to navigate.  That was not many years ago and now our lives revolve around the Internet.  At work most communication is done through Emails.  I use the Internet to find information I am not too sure about or to order supplies from companies.  It is pretty much an essential of everyday life.  It is because of this that the Government is considering subsidising the cost of broadband to help people get online.

Subsidising the cost is not the only thing that has to be done.  Some people are not able to access high speed Internet because of a lack on investment in the countryside.  Because there are a lot more people living in the city compared to the countryside it make more financial sense for companies to invest in the city.  To get over this using Freesat is being considered.  Because overhead or underground cables will not have to be laid, if they can make the technology available to people in the countryside to received Internet though a satellite signal then it would provide the perfect solution.

With the increase in technology faster and faster internet speeds will be needed.  We can now watch TV programmes that we missed using programs like BBC iPlayer.  We can talk to people all over the world for free using Skype.  How long will it be until the 2mbps is thought of as being far to slow to use the Internet with.  The current set up is optimised to download information a lot faster than you can upload information to the internet which is fine for what we use it for.  At the moment we are used to voice calls over the internet, the next step in video calls to be common.  When this happens we are going to want to send a lot more information though the Internet.  We will need a new type of connection.  This kind of system already exists but is mainly reserved for use in business.  SDSL is a constant Internet connection that is high speed in both directions and is where I think connections will go in the end.
