Today I gave some students a word search to do. As I waited for them to find the first word I scanned the box of letters and on the bottom line I saw

B G N I P E E L S

Now I know the human brain is wired for pattern recognition and that when presented with an incomplete pattern our brains will try to fill in the blanks with whatever stored pattern best matches the incomplete one. So my brain put together

BIG NIPPLES

It was the B G N I P that I saw that made me think of BIG NIPPLES. Obviously the word PEELS stands out too, or maybe BIG NIP-EELS. But I was curious about how I had come to think I had seen BIG NIPPLES, so when the students were looking for SLEEPING I totally failed to notice that I had already found the word spelled backwards with B as an irrelevant letter. The kids were saying, "I found it," "There it is," while I was scanning the letters looking for SLEEPING. And there it was in BIG NIPPLES or rather BGNIPEELS all along.

Hot, lmao, that's absolutely hilarious.  I've done that with word searches too.  It can bring quite a rousing came of 'word search' about if you purely look for dirty words you can create!

Your brain is the brain of a very typical male, my friend.....;-p

Ok Here goes.......I reiceved an eiaml not lnog ago taht selelpd erevyhting worng. It seems according to research that the brain only really looks at the first and last letters. The letters inbetween can occur in any order and the brain normally sees the pattern and recognises the word regardless. I've tried to find it but can't sorry it was research from some University in the US.

I would rather be seeing Big Nipples than Sleeping :P

queenP, there are times when I am glad my students don't know what I see when we play alphabet games.

Hegemone, as I wrote above to QP, alphabet games are often very amusing for the adult mind and it's good the kids don't know what I know.

ginger, bags in peels? I don't see it. How's that interesting. Big Nipples provides much more entertainment. Wouldn't you say?

MissMimi, Belp Sing? Belpsing? Sounds like an eastern European dance. Wearing traditional clothes of many colours, the young men were belpsing down the street.

bluegum, I am sure you can do a google search and get some good results. Just remember, men have nipples too!

superbozo, I have seen that email too. I base my excuses for poor spelling on that research.

RollingC, as I wrote to bluegum, remember men have nipples too so be careful what you wish for.
