I remember my first serious relationship with a malay muslim guy. He was working in a pub that I used to frequent as a waiter. He had long hair at that time. He looked so handsome with the long hair even though he was a wee bit of the slim side and had crooked front teeth. We were together for two years. When he started studying and I started working, I kinda met someone from my working place. He was a year younger than me but age doensn't matter right, as long as he's matured. He was a tall guy too, at least one head higher than me! Do you think I'm cruel for dumping someone for someone else? I have been doing that all my life. Well I think we just need someone who is much better for us right? Do you agree?
I converted to Islam at this point but not because of anyone but because I was actually very interested in the religion. My mum had lung cancer at that time and I don't know why I just had that urge to convert at that very moment. my mum passed away a month after that. Maybe it's just a sign or lesson for me to understand. :-(
Anyway, lets continue with my love life...
I was with the current guy for about three years but than something happened. You know, I was in a gameshow (the Malaysian version of Wheel of Fortune) and won some cash and holiday vouchers. To cut the story short, they still owed me one holiday and it was already a year. So they replaced it with another holiday voucher. One of the vouchers was to Perhentian Island. Have anyone been there? That was the first time I went there and I totally fell in love with the place! My voucher was only for 3 days 2 nights but I really had the urge to go back again and so I did. I went back just after a few days. That was when I met my husband....
It's funny that I actually didn't miss my boyfriend at all at that time. Didn't want to think about about him at all! I'm sure you all had had that feeling that you miss your partner if they're not around right?! I felt something was not right. At that time I met my husband. He didn't talk much though when we first met, his friends were the one chatting me up. We exchanged phone numbers after that as they were going home that very day. He messaged me and called me that very night and we communicated the whole week!! And you know what? He proposed that same week on the phone! Unbelievable ain't it?! We are happily married now with two cute boys. But in the beginning we always quarelled. But as time passes by we grow to love each other more even with the quarrels.
Anyone out there had similar experiences like me?
