Gadgets! A few years ago a mobile phone used to be size of brick, and now they are on par with Star Trek communicators, and even the cheapest models come with video playback. It's common now to be on the streets of London and see almost everybody talking on their mobile! Even in the cafe's loving couples can be seen sitting together enjoying in intimate conversation ... not with each other, but with a friend on their mobile.

Apple\'s popular iPhone

And as the next generation of mobile keeps on developing, lead by the iPhone, is there really any need for an best mp4 players ? Well, yes of course there is! Firstly come on guys, why have just one gadget when you can have two. So no matter how great the iPhone becomes, do you really think that Apple are going to let it kill the iPod?

No way! In fact, quite the opposite, the Apple sell more iPhones, the more they are they are selling iPods. It's really quite simple, no matter how great a mobile phone becomes, it will never totally be a substitute for your usb mp4 player, with 4 big reasons:

1. Battery life, mobile phones just eat up battery time - where as a well run touch screen mp4 player can churn out 30 or 40 hours of music.
2. Memory - How many mobile phones offer 32GB or 40GB of storage? The top of the range iPod Touch has 32GB, and Archos have several players with a mind blowing 160GB storage, including the Archos 605 Wifi.
3. Video - The latest MP4 players have very fast processors such as the ONDA VX747 that can play all the most popular video file formats without compression. Mobile phones just do not have that kinda 'technology
4. Displays - OK, fares' fare here, the iPhone does have a great screen, but do other phones even come close to that? I do not think so. When watching video is coming on even popular mp4 media player , a great screen playing a full 30 fps is a must!
