Smoking is bad for you, but we love to do it anyway. Whether the habit is psychological or physical, the addiction is brutal. It's really a useless habit to have also. What are the benefits? Is comfort worth the health risks? I personally don't think so, but still I smoke. In fact, I am smoking while I'm typing.
I have quit smoking before for 8 years, then I started again, and at such a great time it seems. I wish I never picked up that cigarette. I could kick myself in the ass.
Government:
Why do they insist upon telling us it's bad by putting labels on them, but still allow it? Money.
The taxes are outrageous. They know it will kill us (so do we), but they are raking in the dough. They have banned smoking in a lot of places, and continue to ban smoking, everywhere. The smokers are banned to the corner. "IN THE CORNER, thank you for the money!"
These are hard times and the people that can't stop, for whatever reason, are spending a pretty good percentage of their money on cigarettes. That takes money away from other things. It keeps money tight for a lot of people. This useless habit is robbing people from the resources they need. Yes, our priorities are fucked up sometimes. I take full responsibility for my habit...and it's killing me.
The taxes will be used for health care, they say. If I remember right, the hospitals write it off and the government funds them any way. So why the taxes? Money.
Government health care cannot be a good thing. I have good insurance and still can't afford my medical bills. Do I want their nose in my ass? No, not necessary. I know I can't afford to go to the doctor, even with insurance. Filling the script for the holy grail inhaler and accessories are out of the question sometimes also. It will probably be what will kill me, and a lot of smokers. But it's not like we don't die a lot already. I just don't believe the government should be in charge of our own genocide.
Is nothing sacred??
