Last week I attended the Video Marketing Expo at
the Hilton Austin. This should not be confused with the Hilton Garden
Inn, which is 2 blocks away from the Hilton Austin, as I did. I was
confused, to say the least, when I arrived at the Hilton Garden Inn and found
out that there was no button for 6th floor in the elevator. After that
early morning adventure, I finally found the conference.
The conference offered quite a bit for those who were interested in starting to produce their own video content. The final speaker of the day was magician http://shwood.squarespace.com/ Brian Brushwood. Although far from an SEO expert, I really enjoyed his presentation on how he "tricked" iTunes. Brian already had a bit of a cult following. He used his base of followers to start convincing people to follow him on Twitter so that they could rocket him up to the top of the iTunes by coordinating a mass-subscription to his iTunes channel in an attempt to "get back back at the man". In one day, Brian went from not being anywhere close to the top 100 to being ranked #3 in iTunes. Since then he has seen his iTunes channel stay towards the top of the list and enjoyed increasing popularity.
