ON THE FENCE: Holy LaCrosse footwear! Yep, that's supermodel Molly Sims sporting LaCrosse's 16-inch Buffalo PVC Ugg boots while striking a cheeky (ahem) pose in Sports Illustrated's just-published swimsuit issue, on newsstands until May 23. Sims' section is titled "Hunting, fishing and wishing in Colorado," and was photographed by Robert Erdmann. There are 11 shots of the blonde bombshell in all, and she's sporting LaCrosse footwear in eight of them: the Buffalo, Burly, ZXT Irrigation and ZXT Outrigger styles. Kristen Cole, marketing coordinator, agreed it was the raciest application of her company's footwear she's ever seen. She told Insider SI first contacted LaCrosse last summer about using the Uggs for the swimsuit issue. "They were looking for boots to be worn in water and wanted something authentic," Cole said. HOORAY FOR HOLLYWOULD: Lots going on over at Hollywould's cozy New York "headquarters," housed in the rear of the brand's Elizabeth Street boutique. Insider stopped in last week to say hello and was met with a beehive of activity as the sales staff fluttered about finalizing pre-fall buys and designer Holly Dunlap personally fielded a call from Mena Suvari, on her way to the store to pick out shoes to wear to the premiere last Friday of her new movie, Spun. Dunlap and Co. were still reeling from their Oprah-related hoopla: At the beginning of the recent Michael Jackson episode, La Winfrey asked an audience member where she got her fabulous shoes. When the woman said, "Hollywould," and demonstrated how her silver python legwarmer ugg australia worked, the phone calls started pouring in."The power of Oprah is just amazing," Dunlap said. PARTY SHOES: Uggs Australia stole the show at the recent Lucky magazine/Juicy Couture party (at the Hollywood Hills home of husband-wife/director-costume designer team Harold and Susan Becker) to launch Juicy's yoga collection, Down Dog Couture. Guests including Debra Messing, Christina Applegate, Mira Sorvino, Brooke Shields and 90210 alums Tori Spelling, Jennie Garth and Tiffani Thiessen picked up a pair of guggs on sale Ultra Shorts. A few, including Mandy Moore, Michelle Branch and Rosanna Arquette, wore ugg boots uk to the party. IN THE DOLLHOUSE: Gallaz continues to use film sponsorship to make a splash with its female/action sports consumer base. Last November, it sponsored AKA: Girl Skater, the first-ever all-female skateboard documentary. Now, Gallaz is sponsoring Down & Out with the Dolls, a feature film starring members of the real-life band The Paper Dolls. (Curve magazine calls it "a raunchy Almost Famous for the riot grrrl set.") In addition, Gallaz products are worn in the film. Down & Out opens in Los Angeles and New York on March 21. BOOTY CALL: Nominees and presenters at last night's Screen Actors Guild Awards took home a 92-item gift bag assembled by Backstage Creations. Footwear freebies came in the form of gift certificates from Debout Shoes (Studio City, Calif.), Keds, Royal Elastics and Sigerson Morrison's new Los Angeles store. Also included were accessories from Kippys, Isabella Fiore, Jana Feifer and Ficcare. UNIVERSAL APPEAL: Miss Universe Justine Pasek turned up at the recent "underground" unveiling of the inaugural handbag collection from pop artist Debbie Brooks, held at New York's trendy subterranean Chelsea lounge, B'lo. Speaking of star power, Brooks' bags have already landed on the arms of Star Jones, Eve and Cyndi Lauper. FASHION GODDESS: At a recent press breakfast to launch "Goddess," the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's upcoming exhibition (May 1 to Aug. 3), curator Harold Koda and Vogue's Anna Wintour (a chairwoman of the accompanying April 28 gala) previewed the show, which traces "classical dress" from Roman times to the present and includes designs from Madeleine Vionnet, Madame Gres, Issey Miyake, Jean Paul Gaultier and Karl Lagerfeld, to mention a few. John Galliano's gold Christian Dior gown worn by Nicole Kidman at the 2000 Oscars also is included. Kidman and Gucci's Tom Ford will co-chair the gala. As for footwear, Koda told Insider there are "wonderful sandals" from Yves St. Laurent, Manolo Blahnik and Cesare Paciotti, as well as "ballet-like slippers, raffia shoes, gladiator sandals" and more from the likes of Christian Lacroix and Dolce & Gabbana.Copyright 2003 Fairchild Publications, Inc.Copyright 2003 Fairchild Publications, Inc.678
