Who's reading Angel~of~the~Light (2):
I have come to find that there is often at least a grain of truth in the myths and legends of the past that have survived through today.  One I find fascinating is that of the vampire.  Many different cultures have had a legend of a vampire-like creature...the 'undead', the monster, or, the wise and ageless phenomenon.  Some people I have run into claim to be real vampires, and most certainly not the Hollywood variety.  So far, I have come to see that it is more common these days.  Of course, I am a skeptic, it goes with the academic territory.  But life has brought its share of 'surprises' my way, so I certainly don't completely doubt this either.
So I have some questions to pose to real vampires out there, as well as those who are just fascinated by the subject or have studied it.

To start, here are some questions that were posed in another blog:
"

What, exactly, makes YOU a vampire, vampire-like being, or scholar on the subject (again, not a knock even though it sounds like it...jst curious)?

How 'old' are you, really?

Are you just the balance to the 'light' side of things, or are you truly evil?

If you have this bloodlust, what do you do when some woman gets her period (sorry, I couldn't resist that one...saw it posted somewhere regarding Bella from twilight)?

What are your chances for ever 'mating' and having normal kids?  Would you pass this on to your kids or would they also have to be 'chosen' (as Nick said about being chosen few).  Vampires are stereotypically HOT lovers, but no one ever talks about biological kids of vampires.

Do either of you think that a psychic vampire exists and if so are they the same, similar, or different than you?

Have either of you 'turned' someone?  If you can turn someone, doesn't that contradict the idea of being chosen?

"
I'm really, genuinely interested in your thoughts and input.  While I'm sure that some people will disagree with each other, healthy debate is fine, just please answer civilly (sorry I have to include that, but some people can really ruin the fun...).  Oh, and please, DO NOT come on here trying to 'save' people.  That will deter people from helping me with my research...I will block you as a user.

I'll post more questions, but I think that this is a good start.
Thanks ahead of time!
***I wanted to add that this is meant to be a refuge of sorts.  Healty debate is good, and not everyone is going to disagree.   People will experience different things.  Some may come with questions and simply be lost and confused, some may really need to be here.  Some just want to safely discuss vampires.  In any case, keep it civil.  Net trolls, evangelists, pricks/dicks/bricks (lol...), and other people just wanting ro cause trouble will be blocked and deleted.  Anonymous users will be blocked and asked to use member name.
If you simply take on the form of a vampire character (as such in Masquerade or other RPG's), you are welcome here as well, but please understand that there is a difference between a game and how people live life outside of the game (a shame that I even had to post that, I know)...please keep that in mind when posting and don't skate the line between knowledge and idiocy.

What, exactly, makes YOU a vampire, vampire-like being, or scholar on the subject (again, not a knock even though it sounds like it...jst curious)?

    - I think that is rather obvious, but the details are those that truly can't be posted for all to see. I've tried to word it correctly in the previous posts of the other blog if you'd like to look there. There are also many other widely asked questions there.

    How 'old' are you, really?

    -Sixteen, really =]

Are you just the balance to the 'light' side of things, or are you truly evil?

-I am a neutral individual. Being Wiccan, I tend to treat others kindly in hopes of that being returned, threefold. =]

If you have this bloodlust, what do you do when some woman gets her period (sorry, I couldn't resist that one...saw it posted somewhere regarding Bella from twilight)?

    - I actually laughed at this one. Not in a rude way, but in a refreshing, 'oh this is a nice, easy question' way. As many know, menstrual blood is very different from the velvety liquid in your veins. The scent and consistency are practically nauseating compared to that of normal blood. I'm surprised that Edward person isn't repulsed. I assure you that no vampire in attracted to the period.

What are your chances for ever 'mating' and having normal kids?  Would you pass this on to your kids or would they also have to be 'chosen' (as Nick said about being chosen few).  Vampires are stereotypically HOT lovers, but no one ever talks about biological kids of vampires.

-'Chosen' is a very wrong term actually. The better one is 'lucky.' Those vampires who can have a child and it make it through the first year are very lucky. We do have the rapid heal and whatnot, but the children have a hard time coping with the side effects of vampirism.

Do either of you think that a psychic vampire exists and if so are they the same, similar, or different than you?

    - Oh they do. Psychic vampires are similar in different ways, if that makes any sense. They suck energy, not blood. Other than that, I don't know much on the subject. Sorry.

Have either of you 'turned' someone?  If you can turn someone, doesn't that contradict the idea of being chosen?

    - Oh no, not at all. You aren't chosen to increase population. It's hard to say why, honestly. Most are chosen because of the lack of born vampire children able to survive. Turning someone risks everything that's been worked at to keep us relatively secret. Sure, we can talk to you about some thing, but overall, we haven't melted a drop off the iceberg. Think of it as population control.

I hope I was able to help in some way. Thank you for the invitation here, Angel.

I am glad you made it.  I ave been talking to some off board because of the drama, and you have been spoken highly of.  Of course, my idea of vampire differs somewhat in some ways to what you said, but that is why I am even asking.
Can I ask more questions of you based on your answers?  Obviously, leave out what you need to (I understand that part).

Everyone (or most everyone) claims secrecy.  Why does it need to be a secret, or at least your understanding of why?  It is a serious question, not a 'call out' to try to disprove (I stated that because it kinda reads that way...I have my own secrets and would probably be offended by this question in most cases).

Were you a born vampire, or when did you become one/get turned....were you turned?

Why do you think children of vampires have such a hard time with the side affects and why do you think that some survive very well (I have my own ideas on this since I am a mom, but I want to know yours).  Do you think that if a vampire impregnated a regular human being that the child would have an easier time adjusting?

As a vampire do you notice sharper senses?  Keener smell (for all things, not just blood), hearing, sight, etc?

I have read that some can be both psychic and sanguinarian?  What do you think?

Do you believe that some are are chosen? Do you have to be chosen?  What happens to those who find a way to turn themselves?  ( I personally take issue wit chosen....I am thinking chosen in the same sense as the difference between catholics and protestants (for catholics, all can be saved, and for protestants, you have to be chosen to be saved, and it was predetermined....).

That is all for now, but I will have more!
Thanks so much for heading this way!

-It's more or less the fact that the world, in general, doesn't like change. We're a very big jump from just being a myth. It'll split the world. Most will hate us, others will hunt us down to force us to bite them. It's a benefit to both societies if we stay hidden.

Were you a born vampire, or when did you become one/get turned....were you turned?
-I was one of the younger kids bred into this lifestyle. I'm not a born vampire, but was turned at a young age.

Why do you think children of vampires have such a hard time with the side affects and why do you think that some survive very well (I have my own ideas on this since I am a mom, but I want to know yours).  Do you think that if a vampire impregnated a regular human being that the child would have an easier time adjusting?
-I don't think a hybrid has an easier of a time that a born. It's the fact that a young body already has to adjust so much and the still human part of us can't cope with all that on top of vampiric tendencies. Once a child matures and gains the basics of life, it's easier then to adjust to life as a vampire. It's the same concept with older people. Their bodies are so used to being a certain way that they can't adjust at all. Young children are the best candidates.

As a vampire do you notice sharper senses?  Keener smell (for all things, not just blood), hearing, sight, etc?
-I can't really notice from the two sides of life. As for me compared to the humans around me, yes a big difference. I'm a beast at hide-n-go-seek in the dark, haha. Eyesight flourishes in the night. We can pick up on heat and human electrical charge. Smell is more of a learned thing. You have the ability, but you have to push yourself to learn to differenciate between things. Hearing is the same thing. It's almost like learning to swim. You have the natural ability for it, but you have to train yourself and whatnot.

I have read that some can be both psychic and sanguinarian?  What do you think?
-Honestly, with our world, it wouldn't surprise me.

-Unfortunately, it's somewhat like that. By 'law,' you are chosen when your are conceived, but after birth your health condition and overall actions and personality as a child are the deciding factors. You do have the rogue vampires though that just go around biting the hell out of people.. =/

You're welcome to contact me off here, if you'd like. I enjoy talking to everyone with an interest, no matter what the topic.

The other thing with water and vampires is that we cannot cross moving water.

Wow, with the moving water!  So what happens if you are in public transportation and it goes to cross a river?  Is it just something tat you cannot do willingly?  I have heard that a few times before.  So I guess if you fish, that narrows your choices, eh?
  • Angel~of~the~Light said on May 26, 2009....
I wanted to point out that several cultures relate the moving water thing to vampire-like creatures.  Is there a particular reason for that?
  • xHayleyHazard said on May 26, 2009....
More or less on foot. I have no idea why, but then again there isn't much reason to me either xD. I can go on bridges & stuff and with the flow of water, just cnoont cross on foot.
I honestly have no idea, but do you know the 'myths' that go with the other cultures?

Everyone (or most everyone) claims secrecy.  Why does it need to be a secret, or at least your understanding of why?  It is a serious question, not a 'call out' to try to disprove (I stated that because it kinda reads that way...I have my own secrets and would probably be offended by this question in most cases).

Well I feel Hayley did a great job answering all those questions for sure  : )  I will provide you with my little bit of input because we are all different no matter who or what we are…

Starting off I have to say those are some well put together questions, Some questions in general are hard to answer without giving away secrets, but I’ve never been the one to follow the rules to the letter…  The only thing I will not talk about is detailed rituals and things that can put a common person in danger. As you walk a dark path you learn and gain knowledge if you are a true seeker, those that do things for show can inadvertently call forth things that could hurt them or really effect there family life, and I have enough on my own shoulders to deal with in my own life so vampire rituals and invoking vampire beings is something I will not post about or provide to anyone…

I feel secrecy and the classification of the word fiction are necessary when it comes to dealing with vampirism think of the impact that it could have on the world if people could just out right prove vampires are really real, that would be like knowing or finding hardcore proof that GOD is real or even knowing GODS real name if he has one. That’s why people have faith, the really do not know if GOD is real, they just read and follow what other people have written, Well compare that to vampirism, look at the dark history of it… and all the lore,… There are vampire cults that worship and carry a dark faith… but they do it in secret. The thing I find funny is Christians that speak in tongues  and lay hands, they can do that in the open and call it godly and its considered ok or a bit weird, but try and say something about vampirism, or just the word cult out in public see how many dirty looks you get.

I think I’m going to answer one question at a time because I’m a little pressed for time at the min..

I would like to start by saying that I am here because I think that James, Hayley, and Angelcould possibly bring me one step closer to thet truth about theway I am. I would apreciate knowledge about the hereditary aspect of vampirism.

My theoryon it is that it has its place in myth as well as in genetical science. I think that my DNA is somehow mixed with vampiric blood and certain genes flow through my veins, but I am here to ask not to put forth my point of view really.

I have more questions but not enough time, so Ill leave the rest for later.
  • Angel~of~the~Light said on May 26, 2009....
Thanks for joining us.  I will leave the answering to James and Hayley.  I have my opinion on it, but I think they can answer in better form than that.  My short opinion is that I think it is possible for that to happen, and that through the way DNA and traits work, some will be dominant and some will be recessive.  Beyond that, I haven't got a clue.

By chance did you happen to try any of the other stuff that I suggested? I’m just curious… ? As far as the hereditary aspect of vampirism that all pretty much falls on you to research your family tree and find out if anything sticks out. Find the odd person or people in your line if any and then concentrate on finding the facts out about them. As you go you can put the piece together sort of like your own person puzzle. If you don’t really find anything… you can always go a completely different route, think reincarnation,.. You might want to start out on that path and learn about it… Me personally I’m almost afraid to learn about mine if you believe in that sort of thing, I know how I am now and how I got to this point in my life, but to go back and look at another… I’m not sure if I could personally handle that. But in your case you are looking for answers, I would save the study of reincarnation as a last step, in your quest, to learn of your own past lives is an art form in itself, when it comes to being new to a ritual style setting, if you are new to the topic. There are people out there that can look into other peoples past lives but the good ones are hard to find, or charge money… I’ve ran into a few crazy ones that just tell you what you want to hear. So it is better to read, learn, and research the topic yourself, along with the steps towards how to look into yourself. You know you, will not lie to yourself that’s why I say take the time to learn it, if you truly can’t find the answers you are seeking… Considered this to be another step down the path to your current goal.

    James...

Do you think that maybe readings like runes or tarot cards can help?  If so, are there any particular books that might be good on the subject?  I know I had a tarot reading once that was pretty accurate to several years into the future, as well as the past.  Just wondering if this could be one course (not like someone can go, Hey pop, you related to any vampires?).  I have heard from fellow moms that there are several geneology sites that can be helpful, but I don't know what they are (since I can't read the language of my family...Italian).
  • james2009 said on May 27, 2009....

Were you a born vampire, or when did you become one/get turned....were you turned?

Well this question is really personal to me, This is how I started down my dark path… So for the most part I’m not going to say a-lot about this question, I’m not avoiding it, it just takes me to a very weak point in my life that I really have a hard time talking about. I will say this much, people die every day and life goes on like nothing has happened,… We mourn our loved ones that have pasted before us, but then we are selves must move forward in life but keeping their memory with us always,… For some of us that wish to die that end up facing death choose life after all. Why? In case you don’t know they fear the unknowing.  For the unlucky few they end up with a choice.  You know, things still come to me in dreams, more like a nightmares,…  that’s why I don’t not sleep well or sleep as little as possible… People that do these things for show anger me, Try turning out your bedroom lights and being in a dark room, and keeping your eyes open and then watch as a great darkness moves in all around you, you will see it because it is darker than any true darkness that you have ever seen before.  So what do I do,  I close my eyes hoping I do not see the same thing and when I do I still see it, it’s like my eyes were never shut to start...   I cannot sleep or sleep well, The things in the night will call you always no matter how hard you try to ignore them, but when you answer nothing is there that is some of the games they play . I can eat and eat all the time but I always want.. But guess what as you grow in strength so does the torment.   What happens if you have a family down the road, have to work full time pay bills, work days because you can’t find a night job, try finding a partner that you really like that will except you,  for who you really are or what you have done, all things that no one asks, all the normal questions… try to adapt to that…

For those of us that do not fully submit, pay the most because we want to still have a part way normal life.

    James….

I have gone to a past life reading... she was very trustworthy, and she was accurate in all cases, but she never really could read me properly even as a child. Due to illegitimate children and many cultures, my geneology is a dead end for sure.

I sometimes feel conections with a world unlike this one, I have been told by friends with "gifts" that they sense that I carry something inside me.

also if any of this helps, I am sensitive to peoples energy, and can sometimes see and comunicate (although in a limited way) with the dead.

Does any of this sound like it could carry vampirism in it?

honestly, I think I just need to meet a vampire, and read their energy.
  • Miz3rycordia said on May 27, 2009....
Also on a another note, James made an intresting comment... the darkness when you open your eyes and hope for light is usually the darkest, and darkness is something you cant hide from, unless you are out in the open... but then you face the original thing that made you dark. or atleast that is how I relate to that. Living a normal life sometimes seems like a nice idea, but too far off from reality.
  • Angel~of~the~Light said on May 28, 2009....
James...I'd have to be in your room at night! I got chills reading and imagining that.  I hope that you do or have found someone that accepts you for you.  I can imagine what talking about it the first time must be like.

mis...geneology is not a dead end, just much more difficlut for people like you and me.  And the illigetimate children...my grandfather traced his roots back enough to find out that a great something was the illegitimate daughter of a Russian czar, and my mom was adopted from Italy.  It is possile, but barriers are greater.  Starting in the early 1800's US census was required of every person.  It takes some research, but you can usually find out some interesting things.  Sux about the reader not being able to read the parts that you really wanted.  Maybe you were putting up some sort of block, maybe without even knowing this.  A good friend of mine explained that that sometimes happens (she's also a reader).
My guess...if you are here with these types of concerns, maybe there is something to it....'something' that led you to seek these things out.

    James,
I just re-read your post.  How do you adapt (if you can reveal)?  Was it harder to adapt to the 'dark' side or the light side?  It seems that a lot of this torments/tormented you.  Would you say that you are more drawn to or away from it now as compared to when this was new to you?

I didn't forget to look those up for you.  I just have been busy this week.  My husband was home this weekend, so it was nice to spend some time together as a family, and through the week, I have been spring cleaning.
James-do you think you can post your reading list again, or wuld you mind if I did and added some books to it?
For anyone who lives in the Pittsburgh area...University of Pittsburgh actually offers a class called Vampire: Blood and Empire, and occassionally offers it online.  It goes over the lore (I think...I kee missing the sign-up date).

The notion of vampirism has existed for millennia; cultures such as the Mesopotamians, Hebrews, Ancient Greeks, and Romans had tales of demons and spirits which are considered precursors to modern vampires.

    *********Ancient Beliefs*******

Tales of supernatural beings consuming the blood or flesh of the living have been found in nearly every culture around the world for many centuries.[60] Today we would associate these entities with vampires, but in ancient times, the term vampire did not exist; blood drinking and similar activities were attributed to demons or spirits who would eat flesh and drink blood; even the devil was considered synonymous with the vampire.[61] Almost every nation has associated blood drinking with some kind of revenant or demon, or in some cases a deity. In India, for example, tales of vetalas, ghoul-like beings that inhabit corpses, have been compiled in the Baital Pachisi; a prominent story in the Kathasaritsagara tells of King Vikramāditya and his nightly quests to capture an elusive one.[62] Pishacha, the returned spirits of evil-doers or those who died insane, also bear vampiric attributes.[63] The Ancient Indian goddess Kali, with fangs and a garland of corpses or skulls, was also intimately linked with the drinking of blood.[64] In Egypt, the goddess Sekhmet drank blood.

The Persians were one of the first civilizations to have tales of blood-drinking demons: creatures attempting to drink blood from men were depicted on excavated pottery shards.[65] Ancient Babylonia had tales of the mythical Lilitu,[66] synonymous with and giving rise to Lilith (Hebrew לילית) and her daughters the Lilu from Hebrew demonology. Lilitu was considered a demon and was often depicted as subsisting on the blood of babies. However, the Jewish counterparts were said to feast on both men and women, as well as newborns.[66]

Ancient Greek and Roman mythology described the Empusae,[67] Lamia,[68] and the striges. Over time the first two terms became general words to describe witches and demons respectively. Empusa was the daughter of the goddess Hecate and was described as a demonic, bronze-footed creature. She feasted on blood by transforming into a young woman and seduced men as they slept before drinking their blood.[67] Lamia preyed on young children in their beds at night, sucking their blood, as did the gelloudes or Gello.[68] Like Lamia, the striges feasted on children, but also preyed on young men. They were described as having the bodies of crows or birds in general, and were later incorporated into Roman mythology as strix, a kind of nocturnal bird that fed on human flesh and blood.[69]

    *********Non European Beliefs**********

    Africa

Various regions of Africa have folkloric tales of beings with vampiric abilities: in West Africa the Ashanti people tell of the iron-toothed and tree-dwelling asanbosam,[76] and the Ewe people of the adze, which can take the form of a firefly and hunts children.[77] The eastern Cape region has the impundulu, which can take the form of a large taloned bird and can summon thunder and lightning, and the Betsileo people of Madagascar tell of the ramanga, an outlaw or living vampire who drinks the blood and eats the nail clippings of nobles

    The Americas

The Loogaroo is an example of how a vampire belief can result from a combination of beliefs, here a mixture of French and African Vodu or voodoo. The term Loogaroo possibly comes from the French loup-garou (meaning "werewolf") and is common in the culture of Mauritius. However, the stories of the Loogaroo are widespread through the Caribbean Islands and Louisiana in the United States.[79] Similar female monsters are the Soucouyant of Trinidad, and the Tunda and Patasola of Colombian folklore, while the Mapuche of southern Chile have the bloodsucking snake known as the Peuchen.[80] Aloe vera hung backwards behind or near a door was thought to ward off vampiric beings in South American superstition.[36]Aztec mythology described tales of the Cihuateteo, skeletal-faced spirits of those who died in childbirth who stole children and entered into sexual liaisons with the living, driving them mad.[30]

During the late 18th and 19th centuries the belief in vampires was widespread in parts of New England, particularly in Rhode Island and Eastern Connecticut. There are many documented cases of families disinterring loved ones and removing their hearts in the belief that the deceased was a vampire who was responsible for sickness and death in the family, although the term "vampire" was never actually used to describe the deceased. The deadly disease tuberculosis, or "consumption" as it was known at the time, was believed to be caused by nightly visitations on the part of a dead family member who had died of consumption themselves.[81] The most famous, and most recently recorded, case of suspected vampirism is that of nineteen-year-old Mercy Brown, who died in Exeter, Rhode Island in 1892. Her father, assisted by the family physician, removed her from her tomb two months after her death, cut out her heart and burned it to ashes

    Asia

Rooted in older folklore, the modern belief in vampires spread throughout Asia with tales of ghoulish entities from the mainland, to vampiric beings from the islands of Southeast Asia. India also developed other vampiric legends. The Bhūta or Prét is the soul of a man who died an untimely death. It wanders around animating dead bodies at night, attacking the living much like a ghoul.[83] In northern India, there is the BrahmarākŞhasa, a vampire-like creature with a head encircled by intestines and a skull from which it drank blood. Although vampires have appeared in Japanese Cinema since the late 1950s, the folklore behind it is western in origin.[84] However, the Nukekubi is a being whose head and neck detach from its body to fly about seeking human prey at night.[85]

Legends of female vampire-like beings who can detach parts of their upper body also occur in the Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia. There are two main vampire-like creatures in the Philippines: the Tagalog mandurugo ("blood-sucker") and the Visayan manananggal ("self-segmenter"). The mandurugo is a variety of the aswang that takes the form of an attractive girl by day, and develops wings and a long, hollow, thread-like tongue by night. The tongue is used to suck up blood from a sleeping victim. The manananggal is described as being an older, beautiful woman capable of severing its upper torso in order to fly into the night with huge bat-like wings and prey on unsuspecting, sleeping pregnant women in their homes. They use an elongated proboscis-like tongue to suck fetuses from these pregnant women. They also prefer to eat entrails (specifically the heart and the liver) and the phlegm of sick people.[86]

The Malaysian Penanggalan may be either a beautiful old or young woman who obtained her beauty through the active use of black magic or other unnatural means, and is most commonly described in local folklore to be dark or demonic in nature. She is able to detach her fanged head which flies around in the night looking for blood, typically from pregnant women.[87] Malaysians would hang jeruju (thistles) around the doors and windows of houses, hoping the Penanggalan would not enter for fear of catching its intestines on the thorns.[88] The Leyak is a similar being from Balinese folklore.[89] A Kuntilanak or Matianak in Indonesia,[90] or Pontianak or Langsuir in Malaysia,[91] is a woman who died during childbirth and became undead, seeking revenge and terrorizing villages. She appeared as an attractive woman with long black hair that covered a hole in the back of her neck, with which she sucked the blood of children. Filling the hole with her hair would drive her off. Corpses had their mouths filled with glass beads, eggs under each armpit, and needles in their palms to prevent them from becoming langsuir.[92]

Jiang Shi (traditional Chinese: 僵屍 or 殭屍; simplified Chinese: 僵尸; pinyin: jiāngshī; literally "stiff corpse"), sometimes called "Chinese vampires" by Westerners, are reanimated corpses that hop around, killing living creatures to absorb life essence () from their victims. They are said to be created when a person's soul (魄 ) fails to leave the deceased's body.[93] One unusual feature of this vampire is its greenish-white furry skin, perhaps derived from fungus or mould growing on corpses.[94]

Hi Angel, I followed you all here from the ancient symbol page that I found today, as well as this web site, actually. Obviously, your comments and the other posters here on your new page truly interest me. I hope that I may join you all for some respectful Q and A's. Like you Angel, I am doing research on vampires, (I am writing a fictional book series,) and I as well enjoy religious studies, I am a Christian. Ok, I know I just opened up a can of worms here; so what is a Christian doing writing about vampires/ witches/ demons/ etc.? Ok, simple answer to rationalize the contradiction --my writing is fictional. Obviously, I have gotten some slack about it from friends, but that has not stopped me. May I join you kind folks? Karen

Hi Karen.  If you followed the link from the other blog to this one, then I am sure you are aware of what we don't want this blog to turn into.  I will ask that you unblock your user name.  Some people claim 'anarchy' and post anonymously or create multiple user accounts.  Healthy debate is fine, and all kinds of questions are encouraged.  Please keep posts civil.  Sorry this welcome seems so grim, I just made a promise to have a different type of blog in order for certain members to come here.  Users have been blocked and deleted.
    That said....
I don't see the contradiction.  We persue what interests us.  What denomination are you? What do you hope to gain from posts here?  Anything stand out in particular?  What is your series called/about? Is your main character a vampire?  Bad guy or the likeable type?

Major typo!  I meant HATE to be in your room at night, not HAVE....

    Thank you Angel,

I am very diplomatic, I am here with a white flag in my hand.

I am a nondenominational Christian. My mother is an ex Christian, turned orthodox Jew as is her husband who is also a master Kabbalist and an ex Christian, ex Satanist, (I grew up with my dad.) Well, that is enough about my Heinz 57 variety background.

What I hope to gain here? Open conversation with out judgment. I have some questions for my research (some may sound silly,) but any knowledge is  appreciated.

Anything stand out in particular? Yes, the posters here are sincere and polite.

What is my series called? Good question- I need to figure that out. Creating hundreds of pages for three books is far easier than deciding on the titles and a synopsis for each book, go figure! Anyway- I am shooting for at least five books.

What is it about? Easy enough question, but tricky because I too need to be secretive on the internet. I promise you this-- my vampires will never sparkle like diamonds. Hahaha! I will give a relatable clue, its more like Anne Rice vampires meet Sookie Stackhouse and the Sopranos/ sort of, but not really. There is action, suspense, broken hearts, betrayal, lust, love, sex, humor, tested faith and loyalty, magic, wars, ancient gods, sacred order, royal bloodlines, and a whole lot of complicated craziness and, 'Oh sh-t,' moments.

Oh, the main character is a human female. The vampires are very complex/ philosophical, both good and bad. Are they likeable? I sure hope so, but I am biased for I love all my characters.

Questions: For the wiccans out there, sci-fi people, or anyone who can help. I need some terms or perhaps I need help to make some up, if there are not terms to describe what I seek. I asked a Wiccan friend but he did not know either.

So let us say, someone like a powerful sorcerer vampire can share his vampire abilities with a human he’s bonded with to protect her. (They can telecommunicate already.) He can be near or far, see through her eyes, make her fly and kick some a$%. However, she is of sound mind and fully present, just fighting with his powers and guidance. Well he would take over if he needed to. Any terminology? Energy transfer was the best I could do but that sounds too generic.

Next, what is the term for when one can move objects with out touching them? For example; like when you move your hand in the air so things move- you can shield- and kick some a$% with this force.

For those who have, or know of those who have tasted blood- I need a good description of its smell and taste. I have heard metallic taste but that does not tell me much I can relate to, as I do not eat metal. However, does it really taste like metal? Hmm well, there are things that taste far worse. Nevertheless, you don’t drink much, right? I read somewhere that it is only like a couple of tablespoons worth or else you get sick-- is that true?

    Thanks and cheers,

    Karen

Telekinesis to the second question. I'm still thinking about the others.
  • Neph said on May 30, 2009....
OK, to the question regarding the taste of blood. My initial thought would be to suggest that it tastes like something else smells. An old metal doorknob that you twist to open and close a door. An outside door with a weathered handle leaves a distinctive smell on your hand.
Do you, or have you ever dried and old spoon with a cloth and due to the age of the spoon and the lack of original coating it feels rough, almost on the verge of being rusty, but not?  Some people get a strange sensation doing this. A sensation likened to nails drawn across a blackboard or a spade dragged along the ground. Goose bumps & hairs stand up on your neck. Well if you smell the worn part of that spoon...

The description of a metallic taste is probably partly psychological because we know it contains iron.

I would have thought that everybody/thing (animal of course) has tasted at least their own blood at some point in their life.
  • Neph said on May 30, 2009....
    Energy transfer:

Psychic connection. Psychic link. Psychic control. Telepathic enhancement. Subliminal control. Subliminal supplement. Sensory fusion.

    Any mix of the above.

It is indeed difficult to find something that suits.
  • Angel~of~the~Light said on May 30, 2009....
Astral-sensory fusion?  Thought of the astral part because you said he could do it when not near her.

I am not a vampire, but I have tasted my own blood, as well as that from a steak.  The vamprire friend I mentioned in the other blog once prepared a meal for me (called me a wuss for wanting med. rare.....sor of a joke).  He told me that it tastes to him like my favorite food would taste to me if prepared perfectly and savored.  He said bittersweet (as in sweet, but bitter)....he described it as a bittersweet melting (bittersweet in both senses of the word).  Dunno other than that.  The sense I got when tasting my own blood was that it was 'sharp', like sharp that you apply to food.  I hope that helps some but I don't know if I am accurate.
  • N.Augustus said on May 31, 2009....

Thanks for the input, you guys are great. Telekinesis –hmm, I should have thought of that one. Astral sensory fusion now we are getting somewhere, and wow this is difficult to come to a term for it.

Now, ‘about the blood,’ yes I have tasted my own blood but it never tasted like much of anything to me. So, with that being said, and the wheels turning in my head, thinking of the times I have bitten my tongue-- I think it is slightly salty.

Excellent, now I have something to work with, (bitter/ sweet/ sharp/ metallic/ salty.) Thinking of a doorknob/ the smell of old tools was also very helpful as I just wrote a scene.

It is interesting how we each taste the blood differently. Well as long as I have the basic flavoring covered then that should be alright, because I have to write about how people taste differently, etc. etc. etc.. I will say this, now I am wondering if wine/ and coffee are more complex in taste than our blood? Well, thats some food for thought.

I had a question for the real vampires here. I have been doing research on vampires for a while. I have been trying to find information about your guys whereabouts and just trying to meet a real vampire. I met wunnabees and people that claim they are vampires but I have not met a real one. I am very educated in life I have a couple of degrees and have been searching for a way to extent life. I want to live longer so I can learn more. I have come to the conclusion that a normal human lifespan does not hold enough time to me to learn everything. If anyone has information on this subject let me know I would be happy to give them my email to email me personal information off topic. Thank you.

What, exactly, makes YOU a vampire, vampire-like being, or scholar on the subject (again, not a knock even though it sounds like it...jst curious)?

My husband and I gave up our human right and the rights of our children a long time ago. We chose to sacrifice a dreadful life for a new one, its as simple as that.

How 'old' are you, really? really....I was born in 1886.

Are you just the balance to the 'light' side of things, or are you truly evil?

We are not evil, another misunderstanding from the human race. We have learnt to live together with you, hiding our existence since the 1200's if I remember correctly.

If you have this bloodlust, what do you do when some woman gets her period (sorry, I couldn't resist that one...saw it posted somewhere regarding Bella from twilight)?  Another movie theory...this blood is impure, it will make us ill and put a slight damper on our soul.

What are your chances for ever 'mating' and having normal kids?  Would you pass this on to your kids or would they also have to be 'chosen' (as Nick said about being chosen few).  Vampires are stereotypically HOT lovers, but no one ever talks about biological kids of vampires.

My husband and I are married with children, of which though, were born beforehand.   You must remember, vampires come from ancient grounds and families. It is like being a heir to something. Just because we exist in this world, does not mean that we are young and fertile.  I have never heard of a baby being born, it gets passed through generations.

Do either of you think that a psychic vampire exists and if so are they the same, similar, or different than you?

Again its not that easy.  In my experience, vampires all have different abilities, we can sense another, sense evil or the unwanted souls, all of my children can sense and feel. Everyone is different in this world and its the same in our world.

Have either of you 'turned' someone?  If you can turn someone, doesn't that contradict the idea of being chosen?

You are not chosen.  For as long as I've lived, I do not know anyone who was chosen. You choose this life, its ones own choice, you must be tied to this person through blood or soul.

  • MichaelQ said on Aug 29, 2009....
If I want to choose this life how do I get turned?
  • Aquababy121 said on Oct 16, 2009....
email me at aquababy121@gmail.com i am a real vampire and i will turn you if you want
  • xHayleyHazard said on Oct 19, 2009....
Aquababy121, you are completely ridiculous. If you are actually a real vampire there is no way on Goddess's green Earth you would spontaneously decide to turn anyone over the internet. *claps* Good job.
