Now i know i said in my last post that i would be doing a bit of a past, present and future type of thing. So i guess its only fair that you get a bit of an idea where i am from.
I have put these 2 videos up,as they describe it pretty well without me having to say anything, really. One is set to the music of the song 'Cats in the cradle' this video was released in 1992,and became an advert for the trouble in Belfast at the time. The other? well the other speaks for itself,I think.A case of been there, seen that, got the t shirt - far too many times. Its amazing how living and growing up in an environment like that, changes your perception on life -even as a child

It was an amazing period of hystory in Ireland then.  I kind of think it stems back to the Irish constantly wanting to be self determined... bred into every soul there.

Cats in the Cradle made me cry as it always has.  I actually remember that video - it was meant to be shown on channels in the UK too but it got pulled.  Why?  It was the poignant video of it's time and certainly made people think.  It changed opionons too.  It was proven that it actually worked to a certain degree.  No words needed for the first video. . .

Commando Lucy lol!  That names gonna stick now hun ;-)

It was certainly a culture shock for me. Coming from a London Irish family some of whom refused to talk to me ever again when I joined the British Army. My first tour was a real eye opener. Both videos really bought back some memories. And your right they do sum up how bad things could get.

I often think of my cousin, Lisa's wedding when I see and read things about the IRA.  Lisa and her fiance were in Northern Ireland doing their 'tour of duty' when their best man (and best friend) was killed by an IRA train bomb, 10 days before the wedding.  It was a sad moment when the vicar spoke of "those who should be with us".
