Yesterday, my boyfriend sent a text message asking if he could buy eggplants.
I told him, "okay, I can cook them for you tomorrow." And he replied, "Yippee!"

He was trying to find out what I would say. I love cooking for him. He is such
an appreciative audience. He watches me while I prepare in the kitchen and
tries to lend a hand if necessary.

Tonight, I cooked at their house, not only for him but for his entire family. But
it turned out, it was only his mom and dad who were eating for dinner. There
were only two things in the menu: sauteed mushrooms and battered eggplants.

I chopped a whole head of garlic and two onions and sauteed them in olive oil,
added the mushrooms, and seasoned them with a flavor mix, pepper, wine and
a little sugar. Oh yes, soy sauce...No salt...

Next, I sliced the eggplants thickly, dipped them in egg and coated them with
seasoned flour. Then I fried them until golden brown. For the dip, I choped
more garlic and mixed it in the mayonnaise, and seasoned the mixture with
salt, sugar, and pepper.

The maid the prepared some sliced pork thing with sesame seeds and sauce.

My boyfriend ate with gusto and his parents liked the food, too. His father
said he liked the eggplants but that the mushroom was little salty for his
taste. My bf just ate.

He said he was so full and happy. He thanked me and said "I love you" many
times throughout the night, until we finally parted for the night.

It feels so good to be able to prepare meals for him. He loves my cooking and
I love to cook for him and serve him. It's so good to have bonded with him
over our home-cooked meal.

As a punishment, please drink a bottle of Tequila with two plates of Sizzling SISIG ! :-)
  • mr_right14 said on Sep 16, 2006....
    A bottle of tequilla?
    Oh its a pleasure!

But having two plates of sisig...oh come on!
Even the smell of it, I can't stand it.
    Can almost die through it.
Having migraine attacks that I wanna bang my head on the walls.
    as in Bang! Bang! Bang!
Even taking a med that is 500mg.
It doesn't work once migraine had already attacked.
You may just have it as prevention.

The best solution for this is accupuncture.
I had that for one session.
Its not a cure but just a temporary cure and lessens the proneness of attacks.
    *sigh*

I am a good cook. Whenever i entered the kitchen , I always get hurt . Once i slip & cut my last toe off by the fridge door, Another time, while cutting some fruits, the table's leg just gave way and crash onto the same missing toe. gosh ! that toe of mine must be bad karma being brought forward to this life. I had a successful time in the kitchen tho, when my son was 4, he was so hungry, everyone's asleep, so I had to make something for him. so, told my son that he need to help. oh very excited for a 4 year old feeling wanted in the kitchen. NOrmally, we never allow them in. End result meal was very satisfying & no accident. Best of all, my son said, "Mum, you are the best cook in the world" And it's just pouring hot water into the noodle cup meal.
  • anime28 said on Sep 21, 2006....
correction from me. first line. I am not a good cook.
  • Susmaryosep said on Sep 22, 2006....
    Anime28,
don't worry you will learn, and will be good in time! I cooked when I was working alone in Manila, and now can cook a reasonable meal. It's theraupitic too!
But I have seen a girl who actually can't cook, and can't wash the dishes after eating... She actually slid her hand over the sharp end of the knife while washing it, cutting her fingers........... :-)
  • anime28 said on Sep 22, 2006....
u are right, susmaryosep. I am getting better in my cooking now. I now can bake bday cakes for loved ones, and make cup cake for my darling to eat before school, cookies etc.... tks for yr support.
