Oh, where are you, dream job of mine?!? Here I am, a talented young person in the prime in my life, and I am nowhere! Stuck in a bottomless pit of unemployment, misery, and poverty!! I have experience in a crappy office environment, where I could make a decent living, but I can't take working in a stuffy building with uptight people anymore! I'm searching for a publishing job, but as of yet, no dice. It's frustrating to go into an interview and have the employer compliment you, and then A) not hear from them again, or B) get offered a demeaning position. I'm not above hardwork. I know I must earn my way to the top. I just want a fair shot! Unfortunately, companies are looking for someone who has had internships or some kind of previous experience. How am I to get an internship when most of the companies I would considering interning for only seek college students? I graduated long ago! Am I to forge school documents? I can't afford an internship right now anyway. I need to be paid...pronto!! I interviewed earlier this week with a newspaper that offered me a job, but the salary was so insulting I had to bite my tongue from laughing in the guy's face! My last job was horrendous, but at least they paid well. Life sucks sometimes!! Party time this weekend; back to searching for work next week.

Pink Elephant, hi there, A question - 'cos i can't quite believe one of the things you've said. Interns - they don't get Paid???!!! I thought an internship was like a junior or training position - short contract with a job opp if suited. Don't medical interns get paid? Here in NZ., we don't seem to have any advertised internships in the job market. I guess they're waht we call "work experience" whihc is an unpaid day ... week. But an intern can be ont he jobe for longer, right? - But - NOT PAID? Sheese! Please advise!

I understand your fiscal worries, but looking at it from the potential employers perspective is a worthwhile mental exercise. Recently I "started over" as well, going back to school and now working an unpaid internship (part time). It's just plain hard work starting over but keep at it and keep working and it will pay off. [i]Party time this weekend; back to searching for work next week.[i/] This may be part of your problem. :-)

Tappa...some interns are paid a minimal stipend, but most aren't. Kelly...had a big family wedding this weekend; am definitely not the type to party all the time while overlooking my financial crisis! Thanks for the kind words!
