Just finished talking to Dad.  He's doing pretty good.  Still trying to keep busy so he doesn't have to think.

I asked him to provide a name and contact info so that I can keep tabs on him.  He wasn't able to think of anyone right off of the top of his head, but I can wait until he's ready to do it.

Then we got silly for a few minutes and talked about possible epitaphs.  I think I've come up with a winner for me.

"Buried upside down so that you can kiss my ass!" LOL

Okay, maybe not.  But it does have a certain charm, doesn't it?

I also considered "No more having to fight for the covers"

What would yours to be?

Have you ever seen a memorable epitaph?

Tobi-Lee was and always will be Tobi-Lee... simple yet really... I want to be known and remembered for being myself above everything else.

I'm glad you are dealing with this with your dad, it matters.

I'm gonna have to think on this. Maybe provide a serious one and a hilarious one :-P

There is one of my niece's headstone.  "I Love You More".  Whenever anyone she loved told her they loved her, that is what she would say.  It's very fitting.

I think this one would be pretty fitting for me...

Lu - nice, simple works.  Yes, I've asked him to leave me out of his will.  I don't need the stress of fighting with my sibs.

    silver - take your time.

CW - I think it's very fitting for you :)

Heh, my FIL and his buddies all talk about being buried upside down so that people can kiss their ass, so to speak.  Me personally, for today, for an epitaph, maybe:

'No, I Won't Come Back and Help You'

'I Died So I Didn't Have To Listen To You Anymore'

sucks to be the living dead

especially when peops like secretlife speak about burning - visualize it -- plan for it

i'm sorry your father is dying alone unique - one of the things i hate about modern times
  • Lucytorial said on May 09, 2009....
Andora, her father is not dying alone. Maybe you should read a little more.  Her fathers wife just passed away.

It sucks to have foot in mouth doesn't it.

Trav I couldn't help myself....  the shit that dribbles from mouth almighty up there is clueless more than she will ever truly know.

Sorry Andora but you are a dope sometimes, a real dope.

U-nee-k......cremation here for me. No urn to keep my ashes though..
I would like to go back to nature, that's all.....
I imagine my ashes being simply left on the sand, on some beach...the waves will come and will take them away.....

Andora.....yes, Secret is planning to be cremated too. So what? What this choice has to do with being a living dead?

I want to be kept in a mausoleum, with all my pets, my family, my slaves (if I ever have them) interred together so that the British Museum can find me and reassemble me and keep me behind glass thousands of years from now.  :D

    No?  Too late for that?

Fine...  Cremation please.  But keep me in an urn on the mantle piece above the fireplace.

    Inscription?

    "Rub me for good luck"

Figure that's a pretty cheap way to keep the urn polished.

Group answer - thank you all for your thoughts ....... except andora.  Really!  You ought to try reading the blog before you comment. :(  The really sad part of this whole exersize is that in the end, someone may conveniently overlook our wishes and do whatever they want with our remains.
  • travelr712 said on May 10, 2009....
i guess that's why i really don't care uni, cause i'm not gonna be able to affect their choices anyway, and i don't expect i'll care what happens to my meat puppet after i move out. hell, it's always stuffy headed, hungry, tired, too cold, too hot, and has a nasty pinched nerve in the lower back. it's really a pain in the ass to tell you the truth. if it weren't for needing it to type witty and insightful comments to you, i'd prolly chuck it already! :-P
  • Lucytorial said on May 10, 2009....
Uni ~ If its in your will then it must be done.... you can tie it all up in that one thing being done before any of an estate is released... expensive lawyers I know but still it can be done.
  • uniquely-ironic said on May 10, 2009....
trav - oh come on!  If you pick the right person you stand a chance of having one last word!

Lu - I'm not sure anything I have to say is worth the price of an overly zealous lawyer.
  • travelr712 said on May 10, 2009....
guess i never thought about it like that uni
  • uniquely-ironic said on May 10, 2009....
trav - that's the beauty of an epitaph, no one can contradict it without looking like a jerk.  No one can critisize you because you're already gone.
