We talked about Hyundai entering the GSDBUY  mobile phone market a while back and amongst their line-up of possible models was a watch-phone.  It’s now looking like Hyundai will be launching the MB-901, which was on display along with other likely release candidates at Mobile World Congress, during the second quarter of this year.

The watch face is a touchscreen measuring 22×30mm, while the body is 16mm thick and the wholesale watch cell phone    thing weighs 58 grams.  The watch-phone naturally utilises Bluetooth and includes a headset in the box, however you will be able to speak directly into the watch if you’re feeling starved of attention.  Laughably Hyundai claim it has ‘video-playback’ and it currently appears to only use GPRS for data.

Perhaps the one thing which may save the MB-910 is its potential price, just £200 SIM-free!  While not cheap, it’s considerably more reasonable than the rumoured price of LG’s GD910, which will have to rely on its more attractive looks to stand out.  However, since we can only see the watch-phone as a toy, why spend five times more than needed on it? http://www.sourcinggate.com/watch-phone-c-4_184.html

Cell phones come in many forms, and at the just-closing 2009 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), we were even treated to one that’s worn on your wrist in watch form.

Megan Miller from Popular Science calls the LG Watch Phone “the hottest item on the [2009 CES] floor” and likens the device to a James Bond-like gadget. See a CECT  com video of the device here.

Miller says the LG Watch Phone can make phone calls and users can hear the person on the other end through its “fantastic speaker”.

She even says the watch phone has a Webcam with videoconferencing capabilities and is stereo Bluetooth compatible for short-range wireless communications (i.e. a wireless headset).

CNET says the LG Watch coolest cell Phone also is a music player, has a camera and is wrapped in a touch screen interface protected by tempered glass.

CNET says the screen measures 1.43 inches diagonally and says, according to LG, that “texting will be done in a similar manner with a virtual T9 (predictive text) keypad”.

“The LG Watch Phone will be available in Europe later [in 2009], but pricing is not yet known. [LG] has no plans to bring it to the U.S. just yet. It’ll be available in a range of colors from black and silver to blue, red and even pink. It’ll have quad-band GSM and 3G [speed],” according to MP4 watches .
