  i'm glad you found this year's calligraphy beautiful.
  but psst. here's a confession i need to tell you.
  just between the two of us, you hear?
  i cross-checked the meaning of the calligraphy with experts on ancient carapace markings...
  and it appears there's been a terrible mistake.
  there are calligraphic equivalent of typo errors, if you will.
  the message doesn't simply mean "happy birthday gingersoul."
  the elements mean something else.
  
  ok let me try to clarify the true meanings of each of the nine elements again, row by row from left to right:
  
  
  
  * top row, 1st (from left) is an unidentified female alien stranded in texas, fighting a snake that's about to bite her.
  * top row, 2nd, is the apt complex where she lives, that also houses, unknown to everyone, a hidden snake den. (see the baby snakes slithering on the ground floor?)
  * top row, 3rd, is a cobra that mimics a duck, a cute-looking but treacherous duck.
  
  * middle row, 1st, is a trident spear for fighting snakes. a gift from kruuyai. (notice her unmistakable crooked trademark.)
  * middle row, 2nd, is an interplanetary spacecraft that can be a sanctuary in case of snake attack.
  * middle row, 3rd, is a magic wine glass that can trap snakes. notice that there's one already inside, trying to escape.
  
  * bottom row, 1st, is a actually a map of europe. how so? why is it there? don't ask me. lol
  * bottom row, 2nd, is an asian warrior ready to do battle with snakes. don't mind the 3rd appendage. it's not venomous.
  * bottom row, 3rd, is a snake hiding among the cactus plants. there's a dog barking at the snake.
  
  so you see, my friend, there seems to be an entire cryptic message embedded into that happy birthday calligraphy. i'll have to research further.
  
  oh, and thanks about the YT clip.
  my favorite irish group singing my favorite beatle song.
  with andrea corr's quaint accent. rrowwwrrr... lol

  he told me bottom row, 1st, isn't very clear whether it represents a map of europe...

  ginger:  That's funny.  Officially, I "live" here (in Turkey), but so far this year, I've spent 7 weeks in Turkey and 12 weeks outside... mostly in Italy at Damanhur.  But I visited another amazing community (Tamera in Portugal) on this last trip, and I'm planning four more visits there before the end of this year.  So, I wonder if I'll ever get to know Turkey as well as I'd like to.  But, I'm having fun, and that's what it's all about, isn't it?  Hope you're having fun, too... and take it easy on the snakes.  ;-)

  ginger:  Right you are... I was letting the numbers game get to me big time about a year ago... I blame it on Prague..lol.  I didn't know that Portugal was one of your dream places.  Have you been there yet?  It's lovely.   Let's see.. in Tamera (are you already familiar with them?) I was taking their Horse Course... self awareness through developing a peaceful relationship with a horse... learning to ride without a saddle or a bit... blindfolded, no less!  For my trips back, I'm projecting a Spiritual Course, possibly a Vision Quest, an Eros Course, and a Work Camp at the Bodega where the Love School is run.  Sound intriguing?  Incidentally... or should I say co-incidentally, I blogged about Tamera once before in a post called "Living With Rats and Snakes."

  ginger: Lucky you!  You've been spared the need to counterbalance... the Spiritual Course has been cancelled, because the teacher was invited to speak at a conference.  lol.  I don't think I can top that video from Italy, but I am waiting for a CD in the mail from the Horse Course teacher with the 100 best photos from the class (they did all the photographing so we wouldn't have to worry about it).  So, whenever that arrives, I'll send you one or two.  I can't wait to see them myself.
