... in the merry merry month of May...

We took a walk at a place called Lincoln Park on Saturday afternoon.  It was a nice sunny day, and we, well, I, wanted to see if there were any baby ducks at the pond.  I also had a chance to try out the camera in my new cell phone.

It was the night of the high school prom, and the park is a popular place for the prom goers to get their pictures taken by mom, dad, grandma, and whoever else wants to tag along.  It tickled me so much to see these kids, who will be in jeans soon after the dance, all dressed up.  The girls were all manicured and pedicured and made up and hair sprayed to within an inch of their lives, all stepping gingerly on high heels, with their prom dresses hiked up around their knees.  They looked like pretty little satin jewels.  If you look closely behind the fountains you can see a couple of them.

Just a couple of pics of some of the flowers blooming at the park.  I love pansies.  They look so unassuming with their happy little faces.

And if you'll indulge me, just one more.  I've always been fascinated by this tree.  It's very very old and shows the scars of a hard life.

mimi- Nice walk and good pics with the cell phone. I was amazed at how your pic of the pond looks so much like the river running through my home town, ducks and all.

Beautiful pics MMM!!!  What a great park to be able to go to.  It looks like spring has arrived in your neck of the woods.  I like looking at very old trees too, the way they twist and curve to adapt to the world around them.

Fantastic pictures, especially for a phone!  Beautiful flowers, very vivid colors!  It looks like you've got a beautiful park to walk in at least, that must be so refreshing.  That tree does look interesting though, I bet it'd be interesting to know what things it's "seen" in it's long life time.

CDub -- I love the pink tulips too, and the way they were all leaning in the same direction, toward the sun.

beyond -- The pond's got ducks, and Canadian geese.  The people who live nearby have duck doody on their sidewalks.  ;)  I also was very surprised at the quality of the pics.  Especially considering who the photographer is.

uni -- Thanks.  I consider that high praise, as I know what a good photographer you are.  :)  The tree is just huge, and very weathered looking.

Hege -- The park's about a quarter mile from my house.  I ought to go there more often.  There's an outdoor concert venue there.  It's a lot of fun in the summer.

paperdoll -- when I was writing this post and putting the pics up, it reminded me of the posts skald used to do of her everyday life.    I miss skald.

Ed!  [waving wildly]  For God's sake, man, where have you been?!

Zaraida -- Thank you!  It was a sunny day so was a good day for a walk in the park.  :)
