John 16 : 13
"However when He, The Spirit of truth, has come,
He will guide you into all truth;
for He will not speak on His own authority,
but whatever He hears He will speak;
An He will tell you of things to come."
Good Morning.
When Jesus left the earth, He said to His disciples that it was to their advantage that He leaves.(John 16:7) He said that once He has left the earth that another will come in His place, one who is called the Helper.
Jesus had a limitation during His time on earth. Jesus came in the physical form and as such was limited as to what He was able to do and achieve. Jesus could only be in one place at one time, due to the physical body limitations.
When Jesus died He sent the Holy Spirit to the earth, which then came upon the disciples in the book of Acts chapter 2. The Holy Spirit comes and lives within each one of us upon our acceptance of Jesus as Lord of our lives and through the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit becomes our inner guide, to lead us into truth, to guide us and to steer us.
The Holy Spirit is also there to give instruction and knowledge to us, to give us understanding of God's word and to warn us of things to come. In John 16:25 Jesus says that up until this time He had spoken in parables so that they could understand, but soon He would no longer speak in parables, but would speak plainly about the Father. Before we have the Holy Spirit within us, we are unable to comprehend and fully understand the word of God which is why we needed the parables. Once the Holy Spirit comes into us, he interprets and reveals the truth to us, and gives us the full spiritual understanding of His Word.
An unsaved person does not posses the Holy Spirit to interpret the word for them and so they are never able to fully understand spiritual things. When you talk to the unsaved about heavenly things, you have to speak to them in parables for them to be able to understand even the small things that you take for granted.
The Holy Spirit is there to also warn you and enlighten you of things to come. How often do you have that little voice in your head that pre warns you of something, often something little, and then you ignore the voice, only to find out that you should have listened to the voice. This is not only in big spiritual matters but in small everyday matters as well, even to something like you go to the shop, a voice in your head tells you to buy milk, you dispel the voice knowing that you had enoughh milk at home. When you get home you find that the kids drank all the milk, and now you have to go back to the shop for more. (Parable)
Train yourself to listen to, and obey the inner voice that Jesus granted to us through the Holy Spirit. Do this in all things big and small and as you listen more to the Holy Spirit, you will grow in wisdom and understanding.
God Bless
His Love For Us
